1931 Chevrolet Chopped Hot Rod/rat Rod/classic/custom Cover Truck Traditional on 2040-cars
Austin, Texas, United States
This 1931 Chevy pickup named "THE RUSTY SHERIFF" is chopped a total of 8 inches. It's themed after an old rusty sheriffs truck with a sheriff's badge from 1931 welded right to the front from the western series Hopalong Cassidy. It's built on a 2x3 Square Tube chassis, 13" Z'ed in rear and 7" up front. Front end is a 4" drop tube axle, Chevy spindles, with late 70(caprice, impala) rotors calipers and pads. It has a transverse spring up front for a total of 5" of drop. Steering is traditional style with a 1950 Dodge truck gear box. Motor is a fresh build, bored 30 over with a GM 1182 forged crank X rods and Speedpro forged flat top pistons. Comp Cam 272, 471 lift-very streetable. It has a Wieand high-rise intake with a Eldebrock 650 carb, Accell billet distributor. TH350 Tranny with a shift kit, alto clutches and corvette servo with a 1900 to 2500 stall converter. Rear end is from a 70 El Camino with 308 gears. Truck has a basic alarm with shock sensor for those car shows out of town and your ride has to sit outside in that shady hotel parking lot. Clean title as a 1976 Chevy Vega from the Doner car, where it all began. Black carpet floor, with gorilla style furr over tranny tunnel and on the roof. Seating is a black metal flake custom made bench style seat. Painted black dash with speedometer (cable not installed) below dash are the gauges for the oil pressure/Temp/voltage.... Ignition toggle mounted on dash along with a switch that controls high and low beams, and another switch that controls Taillights and dash lights. Small horn button controls Ahhooga horn mounted under the bed of the truck. Gas tank is a vintage FireStone keg that hold 15.5 gallons. Truck weighs just under 2k pounds with me in it. It doesnt take much for this thing to get after it. Awesome gas mileage too. Bed of the truck has a solid built metal frame structure with a wooden board over that and on top of that are fence pickets cut to size then treated to look like a vintage wooden bed. Gold metal flake steering wheel (detachable for security) and matching gold flaked shift knob. The tallest part of the truck stands 48 inches, Its mean, low, loud and fast. Comfort is sacrificed for style. I have driven this truck hundreds of miles to and from shows with out an issue every time. I trust this truck to drive anywhere. Im 6'0 tall and 215lbs and fit in here just fine. Sit in it like a Go-Kart, drive with both feet and hold on, cause this one books it down the highway. Low maintenance on a truck like this with everything out in the open, fluid changes are a breeze. 15 inch steel wheels wrapped in Coker bias ply wide whites. I went with bias ply tires because i like the nostalgic look of them. but if you have never driven a car with bias plys, it takes some getting use to. (they follow any pattern in the road) Truck has been on the Cover and Featured in the #64 July issue of OL' SKOOL RODZ still on the shelves in some stores. Was used on the tv series HGTV'd to lead the cast to the set of the show in the intro. Was also used in multiple Discover channel Outlaw Garage episodes with Jesse James when he was with Austin Speed Shop. Small write up in RAT ROD MAGAZINE and other local mags. Used in LUCKY 13 BRAND photo shoot, the list goes on. Multiple show winner and complete attention getter.
Please ask any other questions you may have. I love this truck, and a lot of love when into it, its simple yet extreme and feel its tastefully done, built right, and not built with crap from the kitchen and front yard, like so many others out there built to look like trash. Happy bidding. MOST CURRENT PHOTOS HAVE VENT HOLES IN VISOR WITH GOLD STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE PLENTY OF OTHER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS, JUST MESSAGE ME WITH ANY OTHER QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE! On Sep-04-14 at 19:56:01 PDT, seller added the following information: I HAVE POSTED 3 VIDEOS OF THE TRUCK AND FOR SOME REASON THEY DO NOT SHOW UP ON THE MOBILE APP... PLEASE USE A DESKTOP COMPUTER TO SEE THE VIDEOS, OR MESSAGE ME AND I CAN SEND YOU LINKS! |

GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?
Fri, Jul 21 2017General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.

General Motors Recall List
Wed, Oct 22 2014It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. We used the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall list to compile a snapshot of all the GM vehicles recalled in the last two months. NHTSA also provides a search engine that allows owners to search for recalls on their vehicle. An automotive company must do everything in their power to notify its customers when a recall is issued on a vehicle. If you own any of the following vehicles and you have questions regarding your car, you can contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Buick at 1-800-521-7300 and Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. Or check out General Motor's recall site. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov. Here's a brief summery of the other vehicles currently under recall: July 26 – 414,333 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V447000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. Problem: In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position. Consequence: If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Solution: Dealers will replace the height adjuster shoulder bolts, free of charge. July 14 – 16,939 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V341000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured October 18, 2010, to June 2, 2011. Problem: In the affected vehicles, vibrations from the drive shaft may cause the vehicle's roll over sensor to command the roof rail air bags to deploy. Consequence: If the roof rail air bags deploy unexpectedly, there is an increased risk of crash and injury to the occupants.
