1923 Studebaker " Red Baron" Roadster Pick Up Rat Rod on 2040-cars
Santa Rosa, California, United States
Make: Chevrolet
Drive Type: auto
Model: Other Pickups
Mileage: 0
Trim: 2 door roadster pick up
This my 1923 Studebaker roadster pick up that could be concidered a rat rod or traditional hot rod. The frame is a custom 2x4 square tube steel frame with a 14" Z in the rear with a suicide front end. The rear end is out of a 1970 Chevelle and is a 12 bolt posi with 373 gears and disc brakes, the suspension is coil springs with Curtis rods and pan hard bar. The front axle is a Supper bell 4" drop with mono leaf spring ford spindles and disc brakes with a Chevy car bolt pattern. The cab is a 1923 Studebaker that has had the back of it smoothed out to have the bed fit up close to it and showed its age of 90 years dings and pitting and it gives it character and I didn't want to take that away so I left them there during the paint prep portion of the project. The bed is a 1953 dodge that has been shortened by 20" and the tail gate welded shut. The bed has a couple dings here and there and a bullet hole that I left as it seemed appropriate since it is painted like the Red Baron! The bed has redwood floor with a trunk with a locking lid so there is a good amount of cargo space. The grill shell is a 1930 ford that has been trimmed to fit the new aluminum radiator. The engine is a pretty fresh SBC 350 with a th350 trans that run great, has 70 psi oil pressure and shifts smooth. Has a new starter, fuel pump, chrom alternator, and new carburetor. The headers are zoomies that I mounted up side down to give it a cool custom look. The body and bed where primed and then painted with Imron 333 industrial satin red and the doors are satin white and the iron crosses are painted on not a decal. The wind sheeld is lexan 3/16" thick, has a bench seat out of a jeep I believe but not sure. Has a B&M shifter, the wheels are Chevy rallies with salt flat hub caps. The gas tank is made from an old Coors keg and holds 15.5 gal. Electrical is pretty simple as it has brake lights running lights and ignition and start that's it....didn't have turn signals in 1923 so I just use hand signals. It is registered as a 1923 Studebaker and has a clear title. I'm sure I may be forgetting something so if you have questions please ask or call me at 707 888 2745 before you bid and remember that this is a rat rod not fancy show car.....I have a low reserve on the truck and the winning bidder needs to have a bank wire transfer 1000.00 deposit within 48 hrs of auction end and final payment in cash in person or wire transfer to the bank within 5 days of close of auction. Shipping is responsibility of the winning bidder but I can assist in getting the vehicle loaded with your shipper...and once again call if you have any questions or need to see other pictures before you bid...thank you Branden

Chevy Bolt EV, Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Ridgeline take 2017 NACTOY prizes
Mon, Jan 9 2017Every year the 2017 North American International Auto Show kicks off with the North American Car of the Year Awards. We say "awards" after all those mentions of our home continent because it's not just cars. This year, in fact, the awards spread out to three separate honors: Car, Truck, and Utility. And without further ado, here are the winners. The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is the Car of the Year, the Honda Ridgeline is the Truck of the Year, and the Chrysler Pacifica is the Utility of the Year. Honda's win is perhaps the biggest surprise, upsetting favorite the Ford F Super Duty for the win. The second-generation Ridgeline rides on a unibody platform and is offered in front- or all-wheel-drive, which is unconventional for a pickup. But the layout also offers a cargo bed with an in-floor trunk and solid fuel economy figures of 19 city, 26 highway in its most-efficient form. The Chevy Bolt EV, however, was probably the easiest winner to predict. Its 238-mile range and sub-$30,000 starting price after tax credits make it a breakthrough in the landscape of electric vehicles. With the Chrysler Pacifica available in a plug-in hybrid form, this year's award illustrates the industry's shift towards efficiency and electrification. And with Ford's recent announcement on future EVs, it might not be long will it be until we see a hybrid truck on the award stage as well.Related Video:

Teslarati's Electric Jen talks about purchasing a Model S, being assured by both Tesla employees and the map of planned Supercharger sites that one would be built along an important route for her. With the construction being pushed back, it made visiting family tricky. "As if owning such a grand car isn't embarrassing enough, asking for a ride to drop off and pick up said car because you can't make it home without charging really made me feel awkward," she says. "You see, one single charging location can mean the world to some people," Jen adds. Read the whole article at Teslarati. Tesla once had considered creating mobile range extender trailers for the Model S. Elon Musk touched upon the abandoned idea during his visit to Paris. While Tesla ultimately dismissed the concept, Nomadic Power has taken the opportunity to hitch their product onto the Tesla brand. "We are delighted, that Tesla Motors' CEO Elon Musk is thinking about a concept like ours for even more extending the range of the Tesla models," says Nomadic Power's CEO Manfred Baumgaertner. He adds, "This confirms our approach to build a long distance mobility provider for all electric vehicles on the market." If you say so, Baumgaertner. When the batteries have degraded to the point that they're no longer suitable for use on the road, they still have a significant capacity that can be used for other purposes. Still useful for stationary storage, they can be used to support charging sites in order to allow for faster charging. The stationary batteries can charge slowly at the site, but then offer up the juice in a hurry when it's needed for a vehicle. Read more from Renault.
Chevy Colorado gets box delete option designed for upfitters
Fri, Mar 6 2015The Colorado, which marks the return of Chevrolet to the midsize truck segment, is receiving critical praise, and now it's time for the pickup to get to work. At the National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN, Chevy is unveiling a box delete option package for the model that allows businesses to custom tailor the Colorado to their needs. The choice to remove the bed is exclusively available on the Colorado Work Truck trim in the rear-wheel drive, extended cab model with a 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 and six-speed automatic gearbox, and Chevy claims this is the only option of its type in the segment. Beyond the obvious loss of the rear, these trucks feature eight mounting points on the frame for upfitters to install any necessary modifications. They also get the Z82 trailering package and a locking differential. The versions with the box delete package carry a payload rating of 2,200 pounds an a gross vehicle weight rating of 6,001 pounds. "It's ideal for utility companies requiring service bodies, as well as landscapers and other businesses needing the utility of a flatbed," Ed Peper, US Vice President for General Motors Fleet and Commerical, said in the option's announcement. Further options with the package are limited to choosing a repositioned fuel filler for the upfitter to install and deleting the rear seat for extra interior capacity. The box delete becomes available in mid-April, and buyers get a $300 credit off the price of the Colorado when it's selected. Colorado 'Box Delete' Expands Options for Businesses Chevrolet package offers unique midsize pickup platform for alternative uses 2015-03-04 INDIANAPOLIS – With a box delete option, business owners and fleet managers can have it their way when it comes to customizing the back end of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. Chevrolet today announced availability of the package in mid-April. It is on display this week at the annual National Truck Equipment Association Work Truck Show in Indianapolis. It is the only such option offered in the midsize truck segment. "With the segment-leading efficiency and maneuverable size, the Colorado makes a great, flexible choice for urban businesses and fleets to make the most of a midsize truck," said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, GM Fleet & Commercial.
