For auction is this 1959 chevrolet Viking 40 truck.  This is a 1 owner truck that has been kept in dry storage its entire life ! The truck has been out of service and stored in a closed machinery shed for many years so minor attention due to long term storage will be needed.

Vin number matches the title and and we have the original title issued in 1959 for this truck.

Vin number is 4B59K-128512

Truck has 2 speed rear end but cable on shifter lever is a little sticky and may need to be replaced due to age.

Mileage shows 89,959  but not sure if that is exact mileage.

This truck is in really great condition for its age and many people have commented on how solid and clean this truck is.  Windshield is in great condition and 1 side door glass is cracked but all other glass looks good.  Dash looks excellent and original ignition works great and so does starter button.

The engine was upgraded to a 292 chevy engine with low hours and it runs. Currently we have the engine running on a small tank with fresh gas and a new fuel filter and it fires right up and runs smooth.

The factory gas tank will need to be flushed out and The rochester carburetor needs to be cleaned but motor runs great.

Transmission shifts into gears and truck rolls good.  Most of the Tires are in great condition and a few have minor wear. All of them hold air and are ready to use.

Cab floors are very solid even under the floor mat because this truck was not exposed to the elements or snow or moisture so the cab is super solid.

Front fenders do have some small rust holes on the lower corners because of some gravel/dirt  that got trapped in that area.

Cab has a few small dings and hood has a few small dings but nothing major.  1 LH hood hinge has a few worn teeth on hinge.

Doors open and close nice and snug just like they were new.  Bottoms of doors have a few tiny rust holes on the lower inside corners.

Hoist moves up and down and grain box is in really great condition for the age.  Truck does not have working brakes at this time and will need some light brake servicing prior to using.  Pedal is not stuck but seals in master cylinder are probably in need of replacement due to sitting.

Mirror brackets need to be taken off and replaced with fresh mirrors.

Really nice original 1 owner 1959 Chevy !

This is a no reserve auction and auction will run out until the end and will not be ended early.

Payment and Pickup Terms:

We would like this truck to be picked up within 30 days of the auction end date but if it is not picked up within 30 days arrangements can be made to store longer.  Buyer is responsible for shipping and shipping arrangements however we know a great guy who hauls old trucks full time and charges approx 1.00 a mile anywhere in the United States and we will put the winning bidder in contact with him as soon as the auction is over.  Truck is located in Belle Fourche , sd 57717.

500.00 deposit is due through paypal within 48 hours of the auction end date and remainder of balance owed is due within 3 days after auction end date through paypal. If you do not use paypal we will accept a cashiers check for the balance.

Good luck on this no reserve auction of this great vintage truck !

Recharge Wrap-up: Indianapolis to switch 425 fleet vehicles to EVs, Chevy Corvette provides bat habitats

Tue, Nov 4 2014

Indianapolis will deploy 425 battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles as part of its municipal fleet by 2016. The fleet will include such cars as the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt and Ford Fusion Energi. The city will also reduce its overall fleet by 100 vehicles. In all, the revised group - called the "Freedom Fleet" - will save $8.7 million and 2.2 million gallons of gasoline over 10 years. Read more at Hybrid Cars. EVs with longer range would make vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid energy management systems more practical for the US. The idea of using EVs as energy storage for emergencies or times of high grid demand is currently being tested in Japan with Nissan's Leaf-to-Home system. The US is also interested in such capabilities, but the higher average energy use of American households would make larger batteries in EVs ideal for grid storage applications. The factory, when constructed, will have a capacity of producing batteries for 100,000 cars per year according to the Korean company. The plant will supply batteries for Chinese automakers such as SAIC and Qoros. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2015 and LG Chem expects revenue of more than $933 million by 2020. Read more in the press release below. General Motors is using adhesive used in the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to create habitat for threatened bat species. Artificial bat caves could help alleviate white-nose fungus that leads to diminished bat populations. Leftover adhesive is used to create stalactites in the artificial caves, allowing them more structure to hang from. GM has also provided Volt battery covers to create nesting habitats for bats, which eat harmful insects and help pollinate plants. See the videos and read more in the press release below. LG Chem officially breaks ground for China EV battery plant Seoul, Korea - Oct 30, 2014 – LG Chem, Korea's leading manufacturer of advanced batteries, held a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of electric-car battery plant in Nanjing, China, to meet growing demand in the world's biggest car market.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.

This 450-hp electric Lotus Evora is powered by Tesla and Chevrolet

Tue, May 9 2017

When someone mentions an electric Lotus, the first thing that comes to mind is the Tesla Roadster, the California-based automaker's first vehicle. That car started life as an Elise before being heavily massaged and adapted by Tesla's engineers. In a similar spirit, the people at Onpoint Dyno are close to finishing Blue Lightning, a track-ready all-electric Lotus Evora. Blue Lightning uses a Tesla drive unit and a Chevrolet Volt battery pack, both mounted in the middle in place of the Evora's 3.5-liter Toyota V6. It's putting down about 450 horsepower at the wheels. The car was built for time attack sessions, so power is fed through custom forged wheels and super sticky Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, the same ones found on the last Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. There is a custom digital instrument cluster in place of the Lotus gauges. There's also a regen paddle on the left side of the steering wheel. With a full charge, Blue Lighting should go about 120 miles. While the car runs under its own power, it's only about 90 percent complete. It has no power steering, no firewall in between the seats and the motor and battery pack, no A/C, and a large hole where the shift lever used to be. Other final touches include fine-tuning the brakes and suspension. There is also a custom rear bumper coming that should make it look more like the new Lotus Evora 400. Onpoint Dyno expects the car to hit the track in the next month or so. Related Video:
