You are bidding on a 72 Chevy Nova with 78,000 original miles.  A little back history on this car.  My father owned a auto body shop years ago and ordered his chevy parts from Strohl Chevrolet in Fogelsville PA.  The guy that would run parts out to the body shop bought brand new off the lot this 72 Nova.  It was always garage kept.  He then sold it to a relative who removed the original 307 and power glide transmission.  That guy tore the front end off and installed a 350 with a turbo 350.  He never completed this project and in turn sold it to the guy whom I bought it from.  The guy I got it from bought all kinds of parts to finish it and never got the chance.  It had been sitting in his yard for the past 12 years up on jack stands with covers over it.

I recently purchased this car and put the front end back on and made it drivable.  The transmission was rebuild and had zero miles on it. I drove the car less than one mile since it has been running.  It had B&M trick shift fluid in it that looked like the day it was put in.  The transmission is shifted on the column.  It tends to bind going through the gears.  The linkage might need a little tweeking.  The motor is a 350.  I was told it is a 4 bolt main block out of a 71 Nova SS.  Has steel heads with an edlebrock intake and a 700 Holley carb.  Does have a cam in it.  Sounds very healthy.

The car is solid.  The only issues with rust are around the passenger wheel well in that back.  This can be seen in the pictures.  There is a little rust on the driver side wheel well behind the mud flap.  A tree branch fell on the top of the drive side 1/4 and let a nice dent.  This can also be seen in the picture, as well as the dent on the door.  I was told the second owner was backing up into his garage prior to removing the original motor and trans and caught something with the door.  There was body work done to the driver side fender which now has primer on it.  The trunk floor is solid.  It is so original that there is still a factory window clip under the original mat.

The interior is in very great shape.  There is a rip on the passenger side seat bottom.  Someone did cut up the dash where the radio goes.  They also put speakers in the kick panels.  Other than those few things very original as far as interior goes.

I am selling this until the end of the month.  If the car does not sell I am keeping it and giving it the proper restoration it deserves.  I do have a clean and clear PA title that verifies and states that mileage of 79,001.  The car will need to be picked up from my residence.  Also included is a 12 bolt rear that I was told came from the same 71 SS Nova that the motor came from. Along with the 12 bolt the car had a disk brake upgrade from the 71 SS as well.  It will need an alignment.  There is also a set of tires and wheels that come with it.  The 2 corvette style rally's come with it, but they do not clear the front brakes.

If there are any questions please ask and I will do my best to have them answered before the auction ends.  Please understand I do NOT live on the computer and might not be able to respond in a few days.

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.

EcoCar2 is on the hunt for a better, cleaner Chevy Malibu [w/video]

Thu, Jun 12 2014

The students spent three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. Not far from the building where General Motors once invented the Chevy Volt, a dozen or so college students are standing on the blacktop alongside a test track, watching a professional driver push the limits of a plug-in hybrid car they've built that's far more radical. These students, from Colorado State University, have spent the past three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. At first glance, it still looks like a regular sedan. But under the hood, they've installed a hybrid powertrain that contains both hydrogen and electric power sources. Even by the standards of the Department of Energy competition they're participating in, it's an outlier. That's exactly what they had in mind. "We didn't want to come here and tell them how to build a better Volt," said Tom Bradley, faculty adviser for the Colorado State team. "They already know how to do that. We can tell them how to think about these possibilities in a whole new way." After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The Colorado State team was one of 15 that came to GM's Milford Proving Grounds last week for the final stretch of the EcoCar2 competition, which challenges regular college students who have no automotive experience to do nothing less than reinvent the American car. The teams have come from across North America, and include schools like Ohio State and Virginia Tech that have a long history of participating in similar competitions, and schools like the University of Washington and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University that are here for the first time. After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The teams have operated 24 hours a day for almost two weeks here at the Proving Grounds, running a gamut of tests that include a 310-point safety inspection, emissions and energy-consumption tests and road tests, in which professional GM drivers ensure they're road worthy. The winning team will be announced tonight in Washington D.C. Revolutionary cars, ordinary package While other green-car competitions encourage extreme designs, this one comes with a somewhat constraining twist: Yes, students must improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, but in the end, they still have to have a car that would appeal to mainstream customers. In practical terms, that means they must keep conveniences like air conditioning and trunk space.
