Up for sale 1966 Chevy Nova Hardtop

2 years ago I had this car shipped from Denver CO to NJ. I purchased from a project car dealer in Denver who got it from an estate of an insurance adjuster. The car was in storage for DECADES, but more importantly never in the NJ salt. When the car got here I opened the driver’s door and the dealer sticker in the door said New Mexico. So this car has been dry and salt free its entire life.

The car is extremely complete, but not running. It is an original 6 cylinder 3 on the tree car. My plan was to create a L79 tribute out of it. To do so I purchased a correct 66/67 327 nova block currently .030 needs to go to .040 , 327 steel crank, rods, NOS oil pan, pick up tube, and oil pump, fuelie heads, L79 intake, 585 carb, pulleys, M20 Muncie, and 12 bolt housing. These all go with the car, not parting out.

The bad news. The car has a sunroof. They did cut 1 front to back brace and the skin. I have a complete roof from a post car that will fix this problem. There was also damage to the passenger rear quarter behind the wheel well. To fix it, someone back in the dark ages, took a 4 door quarter, cut out the quarter on this car, and welded and bondo-ed the quarter. Yes it looks rough. I have an excellent used panel, and a NOS quarter to fix this. I also have a used trunk pan, if the surface scale on the one the car is too ugly for you. The front fenders are shot, but I have a pair of excellent original take offs that go with the car. The grill has a slight smirk (bend upward) on the passenger side, but I have a replacement grill also. The package tray was hacked for speakers, but I have a replacement original section for that.

The car is original Aztec bronze with fawn interior with 1 really old and poor repaint in more of a Madeira Maroon.

With the car being a 6 cylinder, you know it is not bent, because the 6 did not have that much power. I have for the 6 cylinder a reman carb, reman dist, new fuel pump, reman alternator, and starter, and a new gas tank. In case you wanted to run the 6 until you build the 327. The floors and rockers and glass area are all ROCK solid, no rust. I did replace the original windshield and my glass installer said he has never, EVER seen a window channel on a Nova in the area that clean, even 20 years ago when he started doing them.

Clear NJ title in my hand, in my name.

The car is expensive, and I only will take cash. Everybody has very valuable opinions but I do not care to hear them.  I have 1 photo of the car, if you want to see the car, you can set an appointment, I am not a photo studio for picture collectors.

GM recalling 686k Lambda-platform models for hatch repair

Fri, Jul 10 2015

General Motors is recalling 686,287 units of its Lambda platform crossovers. On models equipped with a power rear hatch the system can potentially fail. This campaign includes the 2008-2012 Buick Enclave, 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse, 2007-2012 GMC Acadia, and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook. According to GM's documents to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), dirt can get into a portion of the strut that holds up the hatch and cause the part to prematurely fail. There's a redundancy in place called the Prop Rod Recovery system that's designed to shut the liftgate if there's a malfunction. However, if the breakdown happens too quickly after the hatch is opened the prop rod might not work the way it's supposed to. If someone were in the way of the falling liftgate, they could be hurt. For the repair, dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit to prevent the hatch from closing so quickly. They'll also check the operation of the system afterward. The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall. CONSEQUENCE: If the open liftgate unexpectedly falls, it may strike a person, increasing their risk of injury. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit so that the motor will prevent the rapid closing of the lift gate, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
