1975 Chevy Nova, Base model.  I bought this car in Virginia 5 yrs ago as a rolling chassis.  It has a amateur paint job that shines up very nice.  The color is hugger orange with white stripes.  It was painted about 8yrs ago from what the previous owner told me.  It has some flaws and is not a show car.  There is a few bubbles and paint chips.  The two worst spots are on top of the drivers front fender "paint chip that was touched up from the engine swap" and a bubble by the drivers side taillight.  "see pics".   Both door handles, marking light bezels, tail light bezels and door seals are new.The motor is a 2000 lq4 6.0 with around 100k miles. Estimated 450hp.  The  stock harness and pcm was reworked by street and sand in Arizona and I have the paper work for it.   I added a new gm hot cam "525 lift", valve springs,  timming chain, and pushrods at the time of the swap.  It also has a cold air intake, pacesetter 1 3/4 long tube headers and dual flowmaster 3" exhaust with and h pipe.  It sounds GREAT!  The transmission is a 4l80e with overdrive, it has transgo kit and new 3000 stall converter.  The rear end is a stock 10 bolt with eaton posi and 4:10 gears installed by the previous owner.  New Race star rims, fronts are 15x4 and rears 15x8 with new tires on both. "they have not been balanced, vibration at highway speeds"  The front end was rebuilt with poly bushings and the car does have sub frame connectors.  The heater is not hooked up.  The windshield wipers are not on the car, but I do have them and the motor works.  Inside has black interior the front drivers side seat is taped up so it could use new seat covers.  New carpet inside with a new b&m quicksilver shifter and newer Grand Prix center counsel with cup holders.  The dash is a 6 panel digital made by telitronix "have paper work"  with gps speedo, tach, oil psi, temp, volts and gas gauge.  The gas gauge sticks and work when it wants to.  I just track mileage, but I am pretty sure the sending unit in the tank is hanging up.  This a fun and very reliable cruiser that gets 14-17 mpg and  has never left me stranded. Runs around 2700 rpm at 70mph on the highway. I just don't drive it enough to keep it.  I can email a video of the car running if you email me.  I have listed everything I can think of, check my feedback.  I am a honest seller.  Car can be viewed almost any day.  Just send me a email.  $500 deposit within 48 hrs of sale.  Thanks

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers

Sun, Mar 29 2015

As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Recharge Wrap-up: NEDC's NOx problems, autonomous Chevy Volts

Mon, Dec 7 2015

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) found a significant difference in NOx emissions in Euro 6 diesel cars in NEDC and WLTC testing. While 88 percent of the cars tested met emissions standards for NEDC, NOx emissions averaged five times higher under WLTC, with only 27 percent of vehicles under the limit. WLTC is considered to be a more realistic driving cycle, using hot starts and factoring a higher top speed as well as harder and more frequent accelerations than the NEDC. Employees will be able to use a carsharing app to reserve a car, which will then drive itself to the set destination. The project will allow GM to collect important data and experience to help the company more quickly develop autonomous driving technology. The lithium-ion batteries used to power the EV were recycled from other Renault EVs. With the electric Trafic, Carwatt – a company that converts vehicles to use electric power – aims to demonstrate the "circular economy" of batteries, which can provide more value through a longer lifecycle. Read more in the press release below. Carwatt presents a unique automotive application for second-life batteries from electric vehicles. On the sidelines of the COP21 summit, in the Solutions Gallery running from 2 to 9 December 2015 in Le Bourget near Paris, Carwatt and its partners —Renault, Paris City Council, BPI France, the Ales Ecole des Mines Engineering School, and the Bobigny Business Campus — are showing a very special electric Renault Trafic. This prototype vehicle, the only one of kind in the world, is powered by second-life lithium-ion batteries recycled from Renault electric cars. Circular economy at work with electric vehicles When, over time, the batteries of a Renault electric vehicle fall the performance threshold specified for their initial automotive power duty (around 75% of initial capacity), they can still provide valuable service in "second-life" applications before end-of-life disposal at a recycling centre. Experiments are already under way on power storage applications, for example.

GM veteran Bryan Nesbitt tapped to head Buick design

Sat, Jun 6 2015

In 2007, he was appointed vice president of design for North America and was later briefly general manager of Cadillac in 2009-2010. Nesbitt took over as the vice president of GM's international operations design in China in 2011. This shuffle also moves Ken Parkinson, currently styling boss for Chevrolet trucks, to China as design vice president there.
