1975 Chevrolet Nova Coupe Pro Street W/nos Clean on 2040-cars
Burlington, Iowa, United States
If you're looking at this car, then you probably know as much as I do about it. The car was abandoned in a storage facility, and I ended up with it. I have a clear title in my name.
So Here's what I do know: Someone put a lot of money into this car. I washed the care and dusted it, it has not been detailed. Body: I can find absolutely no rust on this car. The undercarriage is very clean indicating it has not been driven in bad weather or winter since restoration. The interior looks to be original with the exception of the gauges and shifter. There is a small seam coming apart on driver's seat, about 2 inches long - shown in photos. Overall, very nice condition. Carpet and mats are in very good condition. The trunk is clean, no spare. The tires are all severely checked and all will need replacing, all hold air but leak. It appears that something was dropped on the hood and there is paint damage, shown in photos. Otherwise, paint is good, it isn't a super high-end paint job, but looks good and I think would look great with a professional buffing. Glass and chrome are both very strong. Mechanical: I have no idea what the engine is in this thing, nor how it was built. It is strong though! It obviously has a cam, lumpy idle, but streetable. The NOS system has gas in it, but I haven't hit the button, so can't tell you more than that. Auto Trans, no idea what one, has a B&M shifter. It has a full frame brace underneath and some traction bars. The engine does seem to have oil pressure on the low side, I'm not familiar with these cars, so not sure, but it sits at about 10psi hot idle, 45psi at 3,000 rpm - it still has the oil in it that I know has been in for at least 4 years, no idea if the gauge is accurate either. Does not smoke, starts easily and runs great, sounds good, no knocks, etc. That is about all I know. I would not plan to drive this car any distance until tires are replaced and oil and other service performed. I do know that someone put a lot of money into this car and has taken car of it. It will burn rubber as long as you have tire left on the rim, sounds great. I am listing this car with no reserve because I truly don't know much about it and cannot tell you absolutely its condition. Thanks for looking. |

GM natural gas-powered vans recalled due to possible leak
Wed, Sep 24 2014General Motors is recalling almost 3,200 of its compressed-natural-gas powered utility vans because of possible leaks. GM and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a notice last week saying that 3,196 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana CNG vans are on recall, though no accidents have been reported due to the possible issue. The recall is specifically for vans for model years ranging from 2011 to 2014. The recall stems from a potential leak from the compressed natural gas high-pressure regulator, and such a leak could cause a fire or explosion. GM will replace the vehicles' high-pressure regulator in order to fix the problem, will do it free of charge and is instructing owners to contact Chevrolet or GMC customer service to arrange for the parts replacement. Utility vehicle makers like General Motors have pushed for fleet sales of CNG-powered vans and trucks for the past few years and have touted them for their cheaper refueling costs relative to standard gasoline, not to mention the fact that natural gas can be readily sourced from throughout North America (thanks, fracking). According to CNGPrices.com, compressed natural gas sells for about $2.22 a gallon, on average, while the AAA is pegging the average price of gas at $3.34 a gallon. NHTSA has posted information on the recall here. Featured Gallery News Source: NHTSA via Reuters Green Chevrolet GM GMC Natural Gas Vehicles CNG gmc savana
GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
Leak reveals GM's 2017 heavy duty diesel trucks to get 910 lb-ft of torque [UPDATE]
Tue, Sep 27 2016UPDATE: Chevrolet officially announced specs for the 2017 Silverado HD and the rumors were true. The truck's new Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 puts out 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Chevrolet says the new motor produces 19 percent more torque and 12 percent more horsepower, while producing 35 percent fewer emissions. Overall, the new engine is a big improvement over the current motor, which generates 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque. According to Truck Trend, GM's newest heavy duty pickup trucks will pick up quite a bit more power and torque. The publication spotted a recent GM Powertrain ordering catalog that had the engine specs for the 2017 model year and managed to get some screenshots before the catalog was taken down, and they can be viewed here. The screenshots revealed that the 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 powering the Silverado and Sierra heavy duty models will boast 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. This is a substantial gain over the current models' 397 horsepower and 765 lb-ft of torque, and as Truck Trend points out, it exceeds the Ford Super Duty line's horsepower output of 440, but comes short of the 925 lb-ft rating. Truck Trend credits part of this output gain to the new intake system GM will introduce on the 2017 heavy duties. The intake gets 60 percent of its air from a scoop on the hood, with the other 40 percent coming from behind one of the front fenders. GM doesn't reveal horsepower figures in the press release about the scoop, but it does say the cooler air helps with maintaining the engine's output, and that the scoop does produce a ram-air affect, providing more air at speed. As we know, more air plus more fuel equals more power, but there's likely more to the power increase in this engine than only the intake.
