1971 Nova SS  Documented genuine. I can provide documents when necessary.  This car was purchased new here in this city in 1970 by a local drag racer as a driver. I have photos of the car when it was near new with the original owner. The car passed thru 3 or four owners including myself. It never saw the light of day for over 20 years as it was stored away. It has been painted twice in its life. The car still has all its original body panels with no panel replacements or patches. The trunk is like new and the underside was covered in tar dirt and undercoating until I cleaned most of it with solvent and painted it last year. No holes there either and no rust. The car was originally powered by a 270 Horse 350 and Turbo 350. I might still have the original CJD block but it was rusty. Last year I removed the front clip, subframe and rear suspension and replaced/ rebuilt everything. All Moog, Raybestos parts including a new F41 ps box. The original 12 bolt was overhauled and the 3.08 gears were replaced with 3.73. And it still has the original Eaton limited slip in it. New gas tank, straps and sending unit. New fuel lines, The F41 rear sway bar was rebushed and painted. I fabricated bolt on frame connectors and installed them. It has old school traction bars on it and it hooks good on the street. The wheels are the new style Cragar aluminum SS type with 215-70-15 tires and 255-70-15 tires on the rear. BFG.

The engine is a new GM Crate 454HO, dynoed at 458 HP, I installed the big block using all correct GM parts for a 1970 396 Nova. Including the rare L78 5 blade fan and the L78 Deep groove pulleys. New PS Pump and hoses, DG ps pulley. GM ps mounts etc. Correct shroud, rad support. It has a Lakewood bellhousing, new flywheel and 11 inch clutch. The trans is out of my stock of M22s. Not correct main case as it was split but the gears are correct. 26 spline input and 32 spline out. Correct GM BB 4 speed crossmember. BB Nova clutch bellcrank etc. Engine mounts are polyurethane. New delco booster and corvette master cylinder, new porp valve and lines. The driveshaft is a custom 3 inch DOM tube with GM 3R joints and yokes. Inline tube emerg brake cable set. Hooker super comp 2 1/8 coated headers and Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust with the transverse muffler. The shifter is a Hurst Super Shifter 3 with reverse lockout.  The ignition is MSD Pro billet distributor with melonized drive gear for the roller cam. MSD 6AL ignition. It is the limited edition box I special ordered with the serial number 1971. Aluminum water pump. Moroso 7 qt oil pan with sump extension. Guages are Auto Meter mounted on an aluminum plate that I fabricated to just slide under the front of the dash pad. They are liquid filled water temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure and volts. The fuel pressure is isolated type. Braided lines with AN fittings for the fuel system. Holley mechanical fuel pump with holley fuel pressure regulator. Carb is a new Holley 850 double pumper tuned for the engine, power valves etc.

The interior is original for the most part, the carpet and the rear package tray is new. The mylar strips on the door panels are peeling, that is normal.Drivers seat has a small spot about 3/16 in diameter that the vinyl stripped off, probably me with a tool in my rear pocket.

Original options on the GM docs for this car are.    SS, 350 L48 engine, Hydramatic 350, 12 bolt rear axle, 3.08  limited slip, softray glass, deluxe interior, deluxe exterior trims, vinyl roof, special wheel etc, special sport steering wheel four spoke, F41 suspension, console with floor shift, bucket seats, Burnt Orange paint / Black interior. Power disc brakes.

This car did not have power steering. I added it.

This is not a trailer queen. I have put around 300 miles on it. Just tooling around town. It has been in a couple of parades. The engine temp does not go over 190 degrees crawling in a parade in 100 degree weather. I had it to the nationals this year and it performed flawlessly up the highway and cruised at the nationals for hours. I do not baby it. The car hauls butt and hooks good. It is also the poster car for a local weekend car event called Modified Addiction. I do not want to sell it but I have too many cars. I have a 68 SS that I want to finish as well. If you want a fun car to drive around town and want to feel the old school adrenalin in your veins when you come on to it. This is the car. It is built strong to be reliable and fun. I tried to break it already. No go. There is no radio or stereo in this car. You could not hear it anyways. whats the point.

Recently I viewed over 12 Nova SS cars  68-74 at a major national car show. Out of all of them only 3 were genuine.   Although the owner will stand there and tell you that their car is real. Needless to say, I left some very disappointed people at this show. I know Nova and can spot a fake. All of you looking at Nova SS anywhere, beware of fakes and clones. If it is a Canadian car , the documents are available at GM Canada Vintage Vehicle Services. Phone them and you can have the package faxed to you within hours. I have my documents already. US cars no such luck unless you are fortunate to find the build sheet for the car as it is not that difficult to make the changes necessary to produce a fake. My price is not cheap. My car is real and undeniable proof is in my possession. Earlier today I watch Barrett Jackson, a red 1970 Nova SS Clone sold for $33,000. Not that nice either. My reserve is less.

The mileage stated is the original mileage. Not rolled over again. The woodgrain steering wheel is off of my 68. I will be reinstalling the original sport steering wheel back on this car.

Any questions or want to talk on the phone send me a message.

GM seeks national mandate for zero-emissions cars

Fri, Oct 26 2018

DETROIT — General Motors says it will ask the federal government for one national gas mileage standard, including a requirement that a percentage of auto companies' sales be zero-emissions vehicles. Mark Reuss, GM's executive vice president of product development, said the company will propose that a certain percentage of nationwide sales be made up of vehicles that run on electricity or hydrogen fuel cells. GM says a nationwide program modeled on such a requirement in California could result in 7 million electric vehicles, or EVs, on U.S. roads by 2030. California wants 15.4 percent of vehicle sales by 2025 to be EVs or other zero emission vehicles. Nine other states, including Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, have adopted those requirements. In January, California Governor Jerry Brown set a target of 5 million zero-emission vehicles in California by 2030. The Trump administration criticizes California's ZEV mandate, saying it requires automakers to spend tens of billions of dollars developing vehicles that most consumers do not want, only to sell them at a loss. Reuss told reporters that governments and industries in Asia and Europe "are working together to enact policies now to hasten the shift to an all-electric future. It's very simple: America has the opportunity to lead in the technologies of the future." A national mandate also would create jobs and reduce fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and "make EVs more affordable," Reuss added. GM, the nation's largest automaker, will spell out the request Friday in written comments on a Trump administration proposal to roll back Obama-era fuel economy and emissions standards, freezing them at 2020 levels instead of gradually making them tougher. Under a regulation finalized by the Environmental Protection Agency at the end of the Obama administration, the fleet of new automobiles would have to get 36 miles per gallon by 2025, 10 mpg higher than the current requirement. But the Trump administration's preferred plan is to freeze the standards starting in 2021. Administration officials say waiving the tougher fuel efficiency requirements would make vehicles more affordable, which would get safer cars into consumer hands more quickly. GM on Thursday said it doesn't support the freeze, but wants flexibility to deal with consumers' shift from cars to less-efficient SUVs and trucks.

Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?

Sun, Jul 9 2023

The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric.  Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands.  If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla.  Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor.  Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have:  Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.

What if the mid-engine Corvette is really a Cadillac?

Tue, Jun 28 2016

Call me crazy, but I'm not convinced the mid-engine Corvette is the next Corvette. The rumor is strong, yes. And, contrary to some of the comments on our site, Car and Driver - leader of the mid-engine Corvette speculation brigade - has a pretty good record predicting future models. But it's another comment that got me thinking: or maybe it's a Cadillac. There is clearly something mid-engine going on at GM, and I think it makes sense for the car to be a Cadillac. First off, check out how sweet the 2002 Cadillac Cien concept car still looks in the photo above. Second, there are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. There are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. The C7 is relatively young in Corvette years, starting production almost three years ago as a 2014 model. Showing a 2019 model at the 2018 North American International Auto Show would kill sales of a strong-selling car before its time. Not to mention it would only mean a short run for the Grand Sport, which was the best-selling version of the previous generation. More stuff doesn't add up. Mid-engine cars are, in general, more expensive. Moving the Vette upmarket leaves a void that the Camaro does not fill. There's not much overlap between Camaro and Corvette customers. Corvette owners are older and enjoy features like a big trunk that holds golf clubs. Mid-engine means less trunk space and alienating a happy, loyal buyer. Also, more than 60 years of history. The Corvette is an icon along the likes of the Porsche 911 and Ford Mustang. I'm not sure the car-buying public wants a Corvette that abandons all previous conventions. And big changes bring uncertainty - I don't think GM would make such a risky bet. Chevrolet could build a mid-engine ZR1, you might say, and keep the other Corvettes front-engine. Yes they could, and it would cost a ton of money. And they still need to fund development of that front-engine car. I highly doubt the corporate accountants would go for that. But a Cadillac? Totally. Cadillac is in the middle of a brand repositioning. GM is throwing money at this effort. A mid-engine halo car is the just the splash the brand needs to shake off the ghosts of Fleetwoods past. And it's already in Cadillac President Johan De Nysschen's playbook. He was in charge of Audi's North America arm when the R8 came out. A Caddy sports car priced above $100,000 isn't that unreasonable when you can already price a CTS-V in that range.
