1971 Chevrolet Nova Ss ~ Numbers Matching ~ True Ss ~ Super Sport ~ Running Cond on 2040-cars
Savannah, Georgia, United States
See the links for VIDEOS and EXTRA PICTURES BELOW There are things that I will assume of you if you are going to bid on this classic..... 1) You have more than passing interest and knowledge of this individual car and have educated yourself in its stats, information, value, and wide availability of parts 2) You realize that this in not an "everyday driver", it is a project. And even though it does run and drive it will need to be inspected and maintenance performed before it is safe for road use. 3) You have at least basic mechanical knowledge and are aware of the time, money, and energy it takes to restore a vehicle like this. 4) I expect you to contact me if you have any questions that were not answered by the ad by either email or phone (912-660-4694) 5) Last but not least I expect you to read the entire ad, look at all the photos, and watch the videos I have posted so that you have the best possible understanding of this car's condition. Thanks, and happy bidding! As a result of the interesting way I bought the car I was never able to get the keys or title, the lady had already moved from the address the recycling yard had on file. Georgia law allows you to buy, register, tag, and drive a vehicle with no title if it is a 1985 or earlier model year. Check with your state on applicable laws. Yes it is a true SS, the body color, top color, engine code, rear end (12 bolt), trim tag, catalyst sticker, VIN number, and door sticker all match. The transmission is not the original transmission, at some point a TH200 was swapped in where it should have a TH350. The trans is not "coded" and TH350's are easy to come by so it should be easy to swap in the correct part for 100% value. I have done only the most minimal work to it so that it starts, runs, and drives, I have left everything else the way I found it aside from vacuuming it out and putting some tires on it, leaving the choice of direction with the car up to the next owner. The car is very much original besides some small details like an electronic distributor. It has not been cut or hacked, or modified, or hot-rodded. It will need restoring to bring it back to its former glory, but mechanically speaking it is running and driving well enough to be loaded on a trailer or car carrier. Some time needs to be spent on making the brakes work better, and the wiring for the headlights and front turn signals needs to be sorted. I have taken the time to take as many pictures as possible (ebay has a terrible policy that only allows for 24 photos, see the rest of the photos at the link below) and have made a couple videos that can give you the best idea of its condition. MotorWeek's 80's GM muscle coupe roundup includes Regal GN and Monte Carlo SS
Thu, Jan 29 2015Even with just four brands in the family, General Motors still represents a performance powerhouse. Between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, The General can still deliver plenty of thrills. The 1980s, though, saw the brand go even crazier with performance. While the Camaro and Corvette were still around back in the day, GM had a number of other interesting performance offerings. The Bowtie was complemented by the long-deceased Monte Carlo SS, while the now-defunct Pontiac and Oldsmobile offered the Grand Prix and thumping 442, respectively. And Buick, which isn't short on performance with its Regal GS and Verano Turbo, offered a much more serious vehicle, in the form of the Grand National (not to mention the Darth Vader-spec GNX). MotorWeek, in its hugely entertaining retro flashbacks, looks back on these three long-lost GM performance icons, and it's just as good as you might expect. Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why
Sun, 27 Jan 2013Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
GM recalling 316k vehicles due to headlamp faults
Mon, Dec 1 2014General Motors has announced a recall covering 316,357 vehicles globally, due to the possibility of sporadic or permanent failure of the low-beam headlamps. 273,182 of these vehicles are in the United States, while the remaining affected units are in Canada, Mexico, and elsewhere. This recall includes the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse (pictured above), 2006-07 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT, 2006-07 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL, 2006-07 Buick Rainier, 2006-08 Saab 9-7X, and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender. In an email sent to Autoblog, General Motors explains that if the headlamp driver modules are not functioning correctly, "the low-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps could intermittently or permanently fail to illuminate." GM states that this problem does not affect things like high-beams, turn signals, marker lamps, or foglamps. As of this writing, GM states it "has not been able to confirm whether the HDMs in these vehicles caused any vehicle accidents." The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been notified, but the recall has not yet posted to the government agency's website. Scroll down to read the full details in GM's email. General Motors is recalling 273,182 Buick LaCrosse sedans and Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Saab and Isuzu midsize SUVs in the U.S. for possible intermittent or permanent loss of low beam headlamps. Affected models are: 2006-2009 Buick LaCrosse sedans; 2006-2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer and 2006 TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X and 2006-2008 Isuzu Ascender midsize SUVs. If the headlamp driver modules is not operating correctly, the low-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps could intermittently or permanently fail to illuminate. This condition does not affect the high-beam headlamps, marker lamps, turn signals, or fog lamps. GM has not been able to confirm whether the HDMs in these vehicles caused any vehicle accidents. The total population, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico and exports from North America is 316,357. The NHTSA was sent the Part 573 information for this recall on November 25. It has not yet posted to the NHTSA website.
