A very nice start on this 1970 Nova with SS badging ..i'm guessing its not an original SS but there's no way to tell from my research.
This nova is going to be REAL NICE once you paint it YOUR color of choice and do the body work.. I have too many cars and projects and no time or money to finish any of them.. There's a lot here to tell/read about this car in no certain order-- PLEASE read and re-read it all before bidding or calling. Thanks. I have more pics if you want them, just message me..or request any certain part of the car. There'"s a lot to tell any SERIOUS buyer about this car so I've put most of it in the description. If you can, please come look at and drive the car. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE MECHANICS OF THE CAR-- ITS 43 YRS OLD... Call me please to discuss any other details and get pictures of any part of the car. THIS IS NOT... Not a numbers matching numbers car. First the bad if you want to call it that. I had some body work done on the car a couple of years ago. They basically took off all the chrome, the side moldings and so forth as you see in the pictures and filled the molding clip holes and fixed the driver door where someone had ran into it on purpose for whatever reason sitting in front of my house. They sanded, primed the hood and painted under the hood gloss black. All that's basically needed from this point on is body work and paint. id assume it needs taken down to the metal to see what's really going on with the car. Some basic cleaning and basic interior work.. I have new INTERIOR door panels and new carpet ..it will need a few more things no doubt. I HAVE A LOT OF THE STUFF TO FINISH THE CAR. It has some body filler in it in places as can be seen on closeup inspection. Around the quarters and places, some lower portions of the car as well. Rear half skin LOWER quarter panels were put on it many years ago over top the others it appears- you can see them in the trunk --don't have pictures of things yet. The car has some rust at the bottom edge of the passenger side of the rear corner of the window at the molding area.. This has always been a problem area with these old cars. you might have to remove the glass and sand blast the whole area around the channel or similar and repair, seal, then paint.. I had to do this with my 68 Chevy ll. I have no wheels for the car at this time - it is riding on my el Camino wheeels. I'm looking for wheels and tires to transport but you can bring your own if you come to drive it home --it will drive anywhere , doesnt overheat or any problems. of course i'm sure nobody would want to drive it across the country. The car has a complete and basically new FLOWMASTER exhaust system.. As you can see in the one picture it has the 3970010 block, 4 bolt main. Also, The rear Driver door window post needs welded where it comes out of the door. I always forget that for some reason even when I'm showing it in person. Call or email to discuss anything, BUT after 3 pm most days. 614 863 4279 PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE AND I WILL GET BACK WITH YOU. most of the description is in no certain order. It has less than 20 miles on the rebuild and engine. It has a turbo 400 with shift kit in it. It seems to have a small leak which i haven't had time to see whats going on maybe the shift lever seal or its too full or the pan gasket?? The guy at the shop says it has a manual valve body, but it shifts into all gears by itself. The steering column has been rebuilt out of two columns, but it has no indicator for some reason but there is one in the box in the trunk? (will have to ask him about this next time I go over) I have a low reserve on it but it will stay for now because of just the fact I purchased the car complete and running before i had it lowered, a new engine built and >>>> and just spent over 9000 most of it labor..sigh.. on the front end rebuild/refurbishment, NOT including the price of the engine and the engine work, over $3000... then also including installing the fresh engine, the wiring, and all you see in the pictures and more- Newer Edelbrock carb auto choke,(#1406 I believe), New ceramic coated type coated headers, New power steering pump & hoses, New rotors, small parts and pieces, etc. I believe this to be close to the original street driven miles.. of course you can never know because it has not been documented. The title is clear but it has not been put into my name, first because i have never really driven it but to the shop or second had an out of state inspection yet. The car has mostly just sat in and around the home property. I can send you a picture of the title if you wish. I called the title office. They said as long as the lien holder(s) have signed off on the title it is free and clear and it can be handed to the next buyer without me putting it in my name first. The first and second lien holders, which was the loan company he(previous buyer/owner) purchased it through have signed and it has been notarized. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Although i didn't add the option for a BUY IT NOW or Make Offer, I think you can submit one to me via eBay messages or call? Everything from the firewall has been refurbished back to nearly original GM or rebuilt or replaced with new, at a cost of $9000!! yep, nine grand.. but that included two years of labor by the shop. The engine is an original late 69-early GM engine block, rebuilt with ALL NEW internal parts. original late 69 or early 70 GM block, original GM crank,(turned and so on), GM rods, GM heads(rebuilt) but the engine is NOT original to the car. It has a hydraulic Comp cam # 12-207-2/Grind # CS 255DEH-10, with a dual pattern; 421 intake, 451 exhaust. Duration @ .050 > 203 int, 212 ex. Basically the car needs no mechanical work, only body and paint work, and a little interior work and possibly some minor adjustments and tightening or such. A steel cowl hood. I think he used Sealed power pistons and rings? Not sure about what kind of bearings. But I know it was a major brand. Part of the upper firewall has been repaired because of some rust problems. It has front disc brakes and rear drum. One local guy said to put it the way he wanted it to almost new, he would put on new full rear quarter panels and possibly a driver door skin or door ..and depending on your needs and wants . The driver door had been purposely hit when sitting in front of my house!! I have no known enemies, so that was confusing to me.? There had been rear half skins put on the quarter panels and not the greatest job in my opinion-why do ppl do this?? I do not know any history about the car other than i'm sure it was used as a drag car for a time, and possibly stored inside because of the way it was when i received it back when purchased. It was blue when i purchased it with the green interior dyed black. It was originally Forest green with the custom green cloth interior(according to cowl tag)--the only green left in the car was the cloth rear bottom seat which I still have and also have a black rear bottom that goes with the car. I bought it off eBay out of Illinois in October 2006 complete and driveable but it had been turned into a drag car at one time and turned back into a street car with air shocks, traction bars and with another drive train- a newer maybe 87-93 350 with the center bolt valve covers and a twelve bolt from out of a Chevelle I was told at the time. It has a VILLAGE of SKOKIE vehicle license sticker in the windshield from 2004-05. It has frame connectors. It has been lowered by a shop about 3 years ago with new Hotchkis springs and rear lowering kit(blocks). A twelve bolt open rear end with 3:73 gears the shop told me.(they had it all apart and checked and so on) It had a new gas tank upon purchase. It had all newer steering parts and ball joints and so on upon purchase. I had it in the body shop a couple of years ago as you can see by the pictures and then it went straight to the shop across the street for the front end rebuild for about two years. Just got it back several weeks ago and its been sitting since. I have new interior door panels, carpet and a bumper jack for the car as well as other parts and pieces. The trunk is ok but has a few tiny rust through holes in it --you can use as is or replace trunk floor. This is the second listing... Thanks for looking ... call anytime and I'll get back to you. The Opel GT is the concept General Motors should build for the US
Sat, Feb 27 2016Now is the time. General Motors should double-down on performance cars and build the Opel GT concept that's set to debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show. Better yet, sell it in the United States as the Chevy GT. Consumers are showing a thirst for performance cars not seen in decades. Ford has them coming in waves, with everything from the F-150 Raptor to a hotted-up Fusion. FCA US is unrepentantly building loads of Hellcats. GM should respond. The General's cupboard is hardly bare. With the Corvette, Camaro, and Cadillac's V-Series, GM has more than enough to compete with its crosstown rivals and anything Europe or Japan can throw at it. But there's also an opportunity. There's not many front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat sports cars out there like the Opel GT concept. A Chevy GT that used that layout and captured some of the concept car's proportions and curves would ignite a different kind of passion in enthusiasts. It would be Miata-like. With Chevy branding, this sports car would be the everyday exotic. The concept has a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, which makes about 143 horsepower to motivate a structure that weighs less than 2,200 pounds. It can hit 60 miles per hour in less than eight seconds. All of those numbers are within the front-engined Miata's territory. This new Opel is inspired by two great mid-1960s concepts that helped put its design studio, and that of its sister brand, the British Vauxhall, on the map. (The GT concept is also technically a Vauxhall, as the brands are linked in GM's European strategy.) One of them, the '66 Vauxhall XVR remained a concept. The '65 Opel Experimental GT was on the road by 1968. That shows this is doable. There's precedent. The Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice shared a chassis with a modern GT during that trio's brief run. If GM ever makes this concept, Opel and Vauxhall should get their versions. But Chevy is the one that could make this car a global icon. Chevrolet GT. Make it happen. News & Analysis News: The potential return of the Ford Bronco is generating a ton of attention. Analysis: That's not news, per se. But when the Bronco6G.com fan site did a rendering of a next-generation Bronco, it almost broke the Internet. Everyone from Automotive News to Jalopnik picked up the illustrations. Our own post has drawn a lot of traffic and passionate responses. People are clamoring for the Bronco's return.
Chevy shows much-improved 2014 Corvette interior in new video
Mon, 11 Feb 2013If you want a closer look at what went into designing and building the interior for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, we've got just the thing. General Motors has released a new video detailing the cabin's evolution from conception to execution, complete with commentary from Ryan Vaughn, performance car interior design manager with Chevrolet. The quick clip details how manufacturing, engineering and design within General Motors worked together from the first sketches to ensure no compromises had to be made later down the line. How novel.
With plenty of hides traced with contrast stitching and available real carbon fiber trim, the cabin looks to be a few hundred miles ahead of the C6. Given how readily critics derided the previous generation for its cabin, the C7 should make writers work a little harder to find something to complain about. Check out the video below for yourself.
Is this '47 Chevrolet a rat rod or a sports car?
Sun, May 22 2016These days there are plenty of vehicles that blur the conventional automotive class structures. For instance, was the Honda Crosstour a wagon or an SUV? And what exactly was the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet? Regardless, those line-blurring cars (or trucks) are out there, and though this one didn't roll off a production line, it's still quite the automotive head-scratcher. Hailing from Missouri, this epic creation is one part mad science experiment, one part 1947 Chevrolet pickup, and one part '95 Mercury Cougar. Add it all up and you get an awesome truck-sports-car hybrid, complete with an outrageous wing and a V8 to boot. And interestingly enough, it's up for sale . RELATED: Check out this Wild-Styled Lamborghini Rat Rod So how does it all come together? According to the listing, the Chevrolet truck cab (which had previously been chopped) was sanded down to bare metal and given a thorough shellacking of clear coat. It was then melded together with the front end of a 1995 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, and set low to the ground on Bilstein suspension drop spindles. Stance achieved. But instead of fielding an engine from either of those pickups, it pulls its heart from a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV—a big 5.3-liter V8 heart, that is. It comes backed-up to a GM Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Towards the rear however is where things get really interesting. A Copper Pearl coated tube frame chassis both attaches the rear independent suspension (a la Mercury Cougar) to the racy spoiler, as well as secures the rat rod's rear-mounted radiator, fan, and fuel tank. I'm not quite sure why, but it just looks glorious. RELATED: Reports Say Mid-Engine Corvette Will Arrive in 2018 Inside the vintage cab, the Chevrolet furthers its racing proclivities (it's said to have won burnout and auto-cross events) with a pair of harnessed racing seats, a drift brake, a detachable steering wheel, and a tachometer with oil and temperature gauges, but oddly no speedometer. The shifter is a crescent wrench. And its shift boot? That's a Crown Royal Purple bag. All in all, this grin-worthy Frankenstein creation tallies up bits and pieces from four different vehicles (five if you include the Camaro wheels), which make it truly a mash-up of epic proportions. Internet, what do you think? Related Video: This article by Zach Doell originally appeared on Boldride.
