1968 Chevy Nova Ii on 2040-cars
Wenonah, New Jersey, United States
PLEASE READ FIRST I'M SELLING MY 1968 CHEVY II NOVA. LET ME START OFF BY SAYING I DONT WANT TO SELL BUT NEED TOO BECAUSE I LOST MY JOB AND NEED TO PAY BILLS AND I WILL DESCRIBE THE CAR THE BEST I CAN TO HELP YOU. THIS IS A CALIFORNIA CAR. THE NOVA IS A 307 V8 ORIGINALLY. THE ENGINE NOW IN THE NOVA IS A 350 CI WITH HEI. THE YEAR OF MOTOR IS H-7-70 -( AUG. 7, 1970), THE BODY IS NICE. POWER STEERING, THE SHIFT IS ON THE COLUMN.THE REAR SHOCKS ARE STAGGERED. CLEAR MARYLAND TITLE. NEVER SWITCHED THE TITLE OVER. BUT WILL GIVE BILL OF SALE AND COPY OF MY BILL OF SALE FROM PREVIOUS OWNER THE NOVA WILL NEED NEW FRONT WHEEL WELLS RIGHT AND LEFT BECAUSE THEY WERE CUT OUT BY PREVIOUS OWNER, THEY ARE ABOUT $100.00 EACH. THE CAR STARTS UP AND RUNS BUT THE CARB NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED BECAUSE IT RUNNING LITTLE RICH AND CAR WILL NEED A NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH. BACK UP LIGHTS ARE ON THAT SAME CIRCUIT SO THE REVERSE LIGHTS DONT WORK WHEN PUT IN REVERSE. I DIDN’T WANT TO START THE CAR UNTIL THE EXHAUST WAS ON AND COMPLETED. SO I BYPASS THE SAFETY SWITCH TO FIRE IT UP AND STARTED RIGHT UP AFTER THE EXHAUST WAS FINSIHED.IT HAS ALL ORIGINAL BODY PARTS AND WINDOWS, ALL THE GLASS IS IN GREAT SHAPE NOT SCRATCHED UP. BACK WINDOWS WILL NEED TO BE LOOKED AT AS THEY GO DOWN BUT NEED HELP GOING UP. I BELIEVE IT JUST NEED THE FELT TRACKS REDONE. I INSTALLED NEW DRUMS ALL THE WAY AROUND BRAKE SHOES WERE IN GOOD SHAPE. I WAS TOLD BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER THAT THE CAR SAT IN THE GARAGE FOR 15 YEARS. THE CLOTH INTERIOR IS OLD, TEARS ON THE SEATS. THE SEAT FOAM IS STILL GOOD NOT DRY. IT HAS A SMALL HOLE IN THE HEAD LINER IN PICTURES. THE INTERIOR IS ORIGINAL DOWN TO THE CARPET. THE PREVIOUS OWNER PUT THE SPEAKERS FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR ON THE DOOR PANEL SO IT WILL NEED NEW DOOR PANELS IF YOU MOVE THEM. I INCLUDED A PHOTO OF THE INTERIOR WHEN THE WIRING WAS BEING INSTALLED. INTERIOR WILL BE BACK TOGETHER MINUS THE CLUSTER IF I CAN’T GET THE WIRING FIXED. THE FLOORS AND TRUNK ARE SOLID. BUT PREVIOUS OWNER DID SOME PATCHS TO TRUNK INCLUDED PHOTOS. PAINT HAS SOME BUBBLES IN IT AND SOME SCRATCHES. NEEDS NEW TRUNK PLUGS PUT IN BUT THEY COME WITH THE CAR AS THE CAR DOESNT HAVE ANY PLUGS IN IT NOW. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL GAS TANK. UNDERCOATING IS STILL ON CAR.THIS IS AN A/C CAR BUT NO A/C UNIT OR HEATER CORE AS THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOOK IT OUT BUT THE HEATER DUCT,WIRING, AND SWITCH ARE STILL THERE.. THE ROCKER PANELS AND DOOR JAMS ARE VERY SOLID. THE WHEELS ARE 14 INCH RALLY WHEELS AND THE TIRES ARE NEWER. THE CAR REAR END WILL NEED TO BE LOOKED AT AS THE WHEEL RUBS ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I BELIEVE IT’S A DIFFERENT REAR THAN WHAT THE CAR SHOULD HAVE. AS IT HAS SPRING PERCH WELD ON TOP. BUT THE CAR CAN STILL MOVE. ORIGINAL RADIATOR, 4 BBL QUAD. CARB. I PUT FRESH PLUGS IN ENGINE, CHANGED THE OIL,NEW OIL FILTER,TRANS FLUID,TRANS GASKET,OIL PAN, OIL PAN GASKET,POWERSTEERING FLUID,BELTS,TERMINALS AND EXHAUST. BOUGHT NEW WIPER SWITCH AS THE OLD BROKE. NO SMOKING, OR NOISE. NICE 99% ORIGINAL CAR. DOORS HINGES ARE NICE WITH NO PLAY WHEN LIFTING UP DOORS. TRANSMISSION IS 350 AUTOMATIC, BUT I BELIEVE THE CAR CAME WITH A POWERGLIDE FROM THE FACTORY. SO THE CAR WILL NEED NEW SHIFTER LINKAGE AS IT HITS THE NEW EXHAUST HEAD WHEN TRYING TO PUT INTO GEAR AND THE ONE ON THE CAR WAS WELDED BY PREVIOUS OWNER.LINKAGE PIECE I AM TALKING ABOUT IS THE PART THAT RUNS FROM THE TRANS TO THE COLUMN SHIFTER ROD (SEEN USED ONE FOR 18.00 ON HERE) ALL LIGHTS ARE WORKING BUT WHEN TURN ON THE TURN SIGNAL ALL SIX TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS GO OFF. I CALLED THE HARNESS COMPANY TODAY AND THEY SAID IT MIGHT BE A GROUND OR THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH. MY PLAN WAS TO GET IT BACK ON THE STREET AND JUST CRUISE. THE PAINT IS YEARS OLD. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN CALIFORNIA ALL IT'S LIFE AND WAS TOLD IT CAME TO EAST COAST IN OCTOBER 2013. I HAVE COPY OF CALIFORNIA TITLE. THIS CAR IS SOLD AS IS. THIS IS A COMPLETE CAR. FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE BRAND NEW (INSTALLED IN THE LAST WEEK OR TWO): -BRAKE DRUM -SHOCKS -SPRINGS -WIRING HARNESS (AMERICAN AUTOWIRE CLASSIC UPDATE SERIES) -WATER PUMP, VALVE COVER GASKETS -OIL PAN & GASKET -TRANS GASKET -EXHAUST (NEW EXHAUST IS THE FOLLOWING, FULL LENGTH FLOWTECH HEADERS, DYNOMAX PIPE, THRUSH TURBO MUFFLER, DYNOMAX PIPES AND DUMPED BEFORE THE REAR) -ALL FLUIDS MINUS REAR, AND BRAKE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~SO LITTLE RECAP~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SO THE CAR IS ALL GOOD MINUS THE RUBBING ISSUE, THE WIPER SWITCH WHICH IS BOUGHT BUT NOT INSTALLED, NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH, TURN SIGNAL PROBLEM, SHIFTER LINKAGE. I WILL TRY TO FIX THE ISSUE IF I CAN, BUT IF I CAN’T I WILL LEAVE THE CLUSTER OUT SO THE NEW OWNER CAN WORK ON IT. WILL NEED RADIO HOOKED UP AFTER CLUSTER IS INSTALLED
THE CAR WILL COME WITH ALL WIRING HARNESS PAPERS, EXTRA WIRINGS AND CONNECTORS, DOOR ARM REST, NEW GLOVE BOX, TRUNK PLUGS, OLD HARNESS, AND REPAIR MANUAL. Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle
Sun, Aug 21 2022The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world. Race Recap: 2013 Indianapolis 500 better than Bollywood; all the emotion, none of the music [spoilers]
Mon, 27 May 2013If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
But this year's race delivered more than anyone expected, from the 250,000 fans to the commentators to the IndyCar series itself and, finally, to the guy who hopped through a two-mile window on Lap 197 to take the lead and keep it until the end.
Junkyard Gem: 1988 Chevrolet Spectrum Sport Coupe
Wed, Aug 23 2023Before General Motors created the Geo brand for cars built or designed by its overseas partners, the Chevrolet Division put its badges on U.S.-market versions of the Toyota Corolla Sprinter, the Suzuki Cultus and the Isuzu Gemini. Those cars were known as the Nova, the Sprint and the Spectrum, and all became Geos starting with the 1989 model year. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of the last Chevy Spectrums ever sold, found in a Denver self-service yard a few months ago. Midway through 1988, the Chevrolet Spectrum abruptly became the Geo Spectrum and was assigned to the 1989 model year. This car was built in May 1988, making it one of the very last of the pre-Geo Spectrums. The Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum was available as a four-door sedan and as a three-door hatchback, from the 1985 through 1989 model years. For 1988 only, a Spectrum Sport Coupe package, featuring some trim upgrades and these rad decals, could be had on the hatchback. This car was essentially identical to its Isuzu-badged counterpart, the I-Mark. In 1988, the MSRP for the cheapest possible Chevy Spectrum hatchback (the stripped-down Spectrum Express) was $6,495, while its somewhat better-equipped I-Mark twin started at $7,439 (that's $17,128 and $19,617 in 2023 dollars). Meanwhile, the base Hyundai Excel hatchback listed at $5,295 and the Yugo GV cost a hilarious $4,199 ($13,963 and $10,941 in today's money). Power came from this 1.5-liter SOHC four-cylinder, rated at 70 horsepower. A turbocharged version with 110 horsepower was available as well. You could get an automatic transmission in the Spectrum, but this car has the base five-speed manual. This car didn't get the optional air conditioning, but at least it has the traditional Isuzu HVAC control icons featuring blow-dried hair and high-heeled dominatrix boots. Just over 170,000 miles on the odometer. Someone installed a pretty good (for the 1980s) Blaupunkt Charlotte CR148 cassette deck in the dash. This was a necessity if you wanted to enjoy full appreciation of the music of the era. The Spectrum is special! It's as slick as city rain. "I didn't spend a lot of money but with my Spectrum it looks like I did." Joe Isuzu mocked Toyota salesmen when pitching the I-Mark. As was nearly always the case during the 1980s, the JDM ads for the same car were much more fun. They should have recreated this commercial with Spectrums.
