1966 Chevy Nova Gasser

Here is a recently built 1966 Chevy Nova Gasser. This is a current restoration that is 95% completed. The car has less than 500 miles on it since it was titled. There have been hundreds of man hours getting this Nova to its present state. The car gets a lot of attention every time it goes out. Here are some of the major features of this car –

  • 454 Chevy big block; bored .060 over
  • Corvette 427 closed chamber high performance heads; casting # 3873858, with new valves and mild port and polish
  • New Scat connecting rods with new Wiseco 10-1/2 to 1 compression pistons.
  • 427 forged steel crankshaft – internal assembly balanced
  • Classic Edelbrock TR2X dual quad high rise with 2new Holley 600 double pumper carbs and electric fuel pump.
  • New Comp solid lifter cam and valve springs with Harland Sharp roller rockers.
  • New electronic ignition and distributor
  • New Mcleod hydraulic throw-out bearing with new clutch and pressure plate.
  • Muncie M21  4-speed  tranny that was professionally rebuilt to M22 Rockcrusher specs including new gears and steel mid-plate.
  • New Lakewood scatter shield.
  • New custom driveshaft by Denny’s Driveshaft’s.
  • New oversized aluminum radiator with dual electric fans.
  • Specialty Cars (out of California) front straight axle kit with double tube axle and heavy duty springs.
  • Professionally narrowed Ford 9” rearend with rebuilt posi center section; 411 gears and new Moser axles.
  •  Competition Engineering back half kit with 4 link rear suspension – fully adjustable.
  • 6 point roll bar with removable side bars
  • New Prostar wheels both front and back.
  • Mickey Thompson front tires, 24 x 5 x 15”  -  back tires: 29 x 18.5 x 15”

The body has new front fenders, door skins, and quarter panels. The car is painted a Thunder Gray Metallic with clear coat. I have the original steel hood which needs cut and painted to clear the carbs. I do have 3/4 of a gallon of paint and 1/2 gallon of clear. The car has all the original chrome and glass which is not in mint shape. If you are looking for an Autorama trailer queen; this is probably not the car for you. However, if you are looking for a fun, fast car to drive to shows that gets a lot of attention; then this could be the car you have been looking for. The car needs a little more attention to get it complete; but all the hard and expensive work has been done. The car has a new Painless wiring harness that needs trimmed and tucked under the dash. There is no heater or wipers installed; but I have the necessary components. The car has never been raced on the street or at the track.

I have the original front fenders; they need work; but can be repaired and sold. I have the original radiator and a bunch of misc items. Also, I have a used set of .060 over 13 to 1 compression pistons and rods for this motor – everything goes with the car.

Thanks for looking.

The car is sold as is with no Warranty.

Chevrolet considering midsize crossover to slot between Traverse and Equinox

Mon, Jan 9 2017

Crossovers are the new hotness, and automakers are looking to cash in by offering a size and shape for every customer. With Chevrolet's debut of the new 2018 Traverse in Detroit, which grew ever so slightly compared to the first-generation model, there is now a midsize-crossover-sized hole between the three-row Traverse and the compact Equinox. When asked about that obvious space, a Chevrolet spokesperson told us the company is looking into the possibility of expanding its crossover lineup. It should be a relatively simple thing to do, since all it would take is reskinning and rechristening the GMC Acadia with a bow tie, and we all know how much GM loves platform sharing. Although they're now different sizes, the new Acadia and Traverse still use the same platform; the Acadia is now on a short-wheelbase version of the C1XX while the Traverse uses long-wheelbase C1XX parts. A short-wheelbase Chevy built on the C1XX likely would be differentiated visually from both the Acadia and the larger Traverse. It may seem like flooding the lineup with more and more models would cannibalize sales of existing ones, but Chevrolet said it would rather have customers stay within the brand rather than going to another automaker. There have been whispers that some form of the Blazer name (possibly TrailBlazer) may make a return on a midsizer, but if it does don't expect an old-school body-on-frame SUV like the old one. In the end, if Chevy builds it, customers will come. Related Video:

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV

Mon, Jul 20 2015

A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV
