I built this altered wheelbase Nova in 2001. It was cloned after the Bill Thomas "Novel Nova" featured in the March 1966 issue of Hot Rod and Popular Hot Rodding Magazines. I now build all the period Funny Car and Gasser components and cars for Nickey Chicago. All old school, all the time.
-I've street driven this car since I've owned it and runs, goes, and shows great.
-This car has been featured in many, many magazines, most notably in the May, 2002 Hot Rod Magazine with a 6 page feature and 17 photos by Steve Magnante.
-Hot Rod Magazine also named it in its 2002 "Top 10", their annual "Best of the best". Not many cars get that honor.
-The car has the original style Nickey/Bill Thomas tubular subframe that was sold in their respective catalogs back in the mid 60s. It is identical to the original.
-The front axle is moved forward 3" just like they were built back in the day. The rear axle is a Strange Ford 9" with 3.90 gears and a Detroit locker, moved forward 8".
-The engine is a crate 502 built by hot rod legend and NHRA haul of famer Kenny Safford. Ken blueprinted the motor to run on 93 octane pump gas. With the Kinsler electronic fuel injection, Comp Cams hydraulic roller, roller tip rockers and matched ports Ken had no problem pulling 603 Horsepower at 5,800 rpm. This makes for a very strong street motor that is very dependable and has been absolutely trouble free. The car can sit in traffic and never gets hot. You can take it to get groceries, take a trip, or go down the 1/4 mile. I've made one full pass with the car and turned a 10.99 @ 123MPH on 8-1/2" slicks. You can go down the highway at 75 with one hand on the wheel and it drives like a dream. You would never guess it has a straight axle until you look underneath. This car set the standard on how we build all the Nickey straight axle cars now.
-The car is very roomy and comfortable inside. Custom built mini bucket seats and lots of legroom. I'm 6'-2" tall and the seat can still go back more.

First 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 Sells For One Million Dollars
Mon, Apr 14 2014NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick loves buying first-built Chevrolet models for charity. He paid $1 million to buy the first production 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible and $650,000 to get the first 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28. Hendrick's latest purchase happened at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach where he got into a bidding war to pay $1 million to get the first 2015 Corvette Z06. The bidding came quick with the car reaching $100,000 within 3 seconds and hitting $500,000 in about 35 seconds. The money from the sale was donated to the Karmanos Cancer Institute. GM is the latest automaker accused of diesel emissions cheating
Thu, May 25 2017Volkswagen and Ram need to make room on the diesel-emissions bench for General Motors. America's largest automaker was accused in a lawsuit on Thursday of rigging hundreds of thousands of diesel trucks with at least three so-called defeat devices to ensure that the trucks would meet federal and state emission standards, even if they generated more pollution in real-world driving. According to the complaint, on-road emissions testing conducted for the plaintiffs found that Duramax-equipped trucks produced NOx pollutants, comprised of nitrogen and oxygen atoms, two to five times higher than legally permitted, and "many times" higher than their gasoline counterparts. The proposed class-action lawsuit was filed in federal court in Detroit on behalf of people who own or lease more than 705,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks fitted with "Duramax" engines from 2011 to 2016 model years. The lawsuit seeks remedies including possible refunds or restitution for lost vehicle value, plus punitive damages. It adds to legal problems for Detroit-based GM, which has already paid about $2.5 billion in penalties and settlements over faulty ignition switches linked to 124 deaths. GM joins at least five automakers whose diesel emissions have been scrutinized by regulators or consumers. They include VW, which has admitted to cheating; Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler; Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Peugeot and Renault. GM spokesman Dan Flores called the claims "baseless," and said the trucks comply with US Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards and California's own tough standards. Shares of GM were down 69 cents, or 2.1 percent, at $32.50 in afternoon trading, after earlier falling to $31.93. The GM lawsuit was filed by several law firms, including Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, which helped reach multibillion-dollar settlements with VW on behalf of drivers and dealers. The case is Fenner et al v General Motors LLC et al, US District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, No. 17-11661. The named plaintiffs are Andrei Fenner of Mountain View, California and Joshua Herman of Sulphur, Louisiana. They said they would not have bought their respective 2011 Sierra and 2016 Silverado trucks, or would have paid less for them, had they known about the alleged rigging. Joseph Spak, an RBC Capital Markets analyst, in a research report said "negative publicity" from the lawsuit could drive buyers to trucks from Ford or even Fiat Chrysler's Ram.
GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories
Wed, 06 Feb 2013As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.
