This Monte Carlo SS is not factory...and not a racetrack car...an awesome street cruiser that got a lot of thumbs up during the Woodward dream cruise..a real head Turner!..but seriously...great running aftermarket custom built 400 SBC bored 30 over which makes it a 406 high perf. cam, edelbrock Victor jr aluminum heads,Holley Carb and runs great NO overheating..NO oil leaks, msd distributor all aluminum big quart radiator, headers big tube pipes to edelbrock mufflers(as pictiured)....it sounds great and steady idles nicely with a tough rumble that is unique! The car is rare that it is a 5 speed manual high performance tremec T5 transmission that shifts smooth from start to finish..all gears and clutch in perfect working order! the metal work to the interior floor with a short shifter and Hurst handle grip...really awesome and unique for a Monte Carlo SS...you wont find one produced factory...they are all automatics! the rear axle posi traction I was told is 3:73 gear ratio! The previous owner fueled the car exclusively with Shell premium. high octane which I have continued to do as his routine,,,,,,,,, oil changes done with the premium high performance brand Royal Purple...over 100$ oil change! The brakes are in perfect working order and system is upgraded no grinding or issues! I have 2 sets of wheels & tires...the stock wheels and tires with 90% tread on raised white lettered BF GOODRICH performance tires(over 500$)and a set of weld racing chrome wheels with Mickey Thompson tires(cost 1400$) BOTH TIRE SETS ARE ALMOST BRAND NEW! if you are interested in car without weld non factory wheels and tires let me know? ...the front as shown are drag strip style wheels and tires(very cool)! the car is 27 years old and considering that its in great shape over all...it has 3 small spots on the body that have been treated for rust (as pictured)but overall not a rust bucket and worthy and deserving of a paint job and minor bodywork to be near perfect...all body lines match up nicly...no accident body damages.. just small minor issues in some areas(27 YEAR OLD CAR)! The interior is a lil rough most in part to the carpet..the seats are not torn or ripped nor heavily stains, the headliner is nice(as pictured)! I had Sun-Pro gauges installed 5inch shift light tachometer(lights up blue...very cool)you can calibrate the idle as well as set your shifting light! and a trio including oil pressure, voltage and temperature! All wired professionaly directly to the lights and also linked to the dimmer which is nice to be able to control brightness and in perfect working order! I have a clean clear green Michigan title! there are no current issues I drive the vehicle daily for the last three weeks and there have been no issues whatsoever besides a lot of money spent on premium fuel and the fact that I will miss it!LOL....The car currently reads 81,659 but mileage will not be actual at time of this auction ending as I will be driving it shortly...This car is really fun and ready to impress...mustangs,camaro's and vettes are to frequent..own a true classic Chevy muscle car and leave most cars on the road in the dust...this car could and would be a great show or race car...or just a weekend warrior...it has the potential to be anything you want all the heavy duty high performance parts needed are in place****** PLEASE BE PREPARED TO MAKE AND CONTACT ME FOR PAYMENT UPON VEHICLE PICK-UP WITHIN 3 DAYS AT ENDING OF AUCTION!!!!!!! GM recalls select Chevy Cruze, Sonic and Buick Verano models over airbag issue
Wed, 14 Nov 2012General Motors is recalling certain 2012 Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic models due to a defect in the driver's airbag system. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbag has a shorting bar which may contact two internal terminals. If that happens during a crash, the supplemental restraint may not deploy, increasing the risk of driver injury. The recall includes a total of 2,949 units.
GM will contact owners and replace the steering wheel airbag coil at no cost. At this point, it's unclear when the recall will begin, though owners may contact the automaker at 1-800-521-7300 for more information. You may also take a closer look at the full NHTSA notice below.
2013 Chevy COPO Camaro announced with two new engines and manual option
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Chevrolet is following up the 2012 COPO Camaro with another limited run of the drag-strip-ready production car for 2013. Ditching the superchargers, the 2013 COPO Camaro can only be equipped with one of three naturally aspirated V8 engines, and other new features include the option of a manual transmission, new front springs, some minor styling changes and a lower starting price of $86,000. All cars are designed to abide by the rules of the NHRA's Stock Eliminator or Super Stock classifications, depending on in which series buyers wish to enter their Chevrolet Camaro.
Returning for 2013 is the 427-cubic-inch V8 producing 425 horsepower, but the new engines include a 325-hp 350-CID V8 and a 375-hp 396-CID V8. Buyers can select to purchase all three engines, and each will be matched with the sequence number of that car; the track-only COPO cars will not have vehicle identification numbers and can't be registered for street use.
Chevrolet is also offering unique enthusiast-specific options such as a COPO Build Book and the opportunity for owners to help assemble their car's engine at the Chevrolet Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI.
Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain
Sat, Aug 9 2014Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S.
