1971 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO
I am pleased to offer this exceptional 1971 Monte Carlo with a 350 cubic inch engine. This Monte Carlo came from the famous John Scotti Collection and let me tell you it is one awesome car. The color of this Monte Carlo is code 78 – Rosewood Metallic. As a lay person I would call it a steely walnut – simply gorgeous. The paint quality is show condition. There are no dings, dents, waviness or unsightly blemishes. The moldings are all mint condition. All of the chrome is excellent with only slight pitting on the front bumper. There is no evidence of any repair work or accident damage, simply mint original metal. I love the skirts and feel like this more personifies what the Monte Carlo is. Despite GM offering a 454 and SS option the Monte Carlo truly was intended to be a luxury offering for Chevrolet. The interior is original. The cloth shows a bit of repair where the sun beats down on it but one would never replace it. The dash is beautiful with clear gauges. The dash top (cover) is free of any cracks. The radio knobs are missing because someone stole them at a recent car show. I have ordered new ones so they will be included in the sale. Other special equipment includes a tilt wheel. Of course this Monte Carlo drives great and is so tight you will think you are in a new car. Whenever it is parked it draws a crowd and comments like – “the best I have ever seen” are often said. Things like the engine compartment, vinyl roof and trunk area are all beautifully kept. Please see pictures to get the full impact. This is an extreme high quality Monte Carlo and it could be shown in a Concours or any other kind of show it is that nice. Quality of course comes with a price but this Monte will not disappoint. As always if you have any questions do not hesitate to email or call. Please remember many of our cars are sold before the auction ends and we allow you to maintain ebay protection. Thanks for looking.

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels. As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

DETROIT (AP) - General Motors is recalling 370,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups from the 2014 model year to fix software that could cause the exhaust components to overheat and start a fire. The recall includes 303,000 trucks in the U.S. and 67,000 in Canada and Mexico. All of the trucks involved have 4.3-liter or 5.3-liter engines. GM said eight fires have been reported, but no injuries. One garage was damaged, the company said. All of the incidents occurred in cold weather. The company is asking customers not to leave their trucks idling unattended. GM dealers will reprogram the software for free. The company will inform owners starting Jan. 16. The major recall announcement, which came on Saturday, marred the Silverado's winning of the 2014 North American Truck of the Year Award at the Detroit Auto Show on Monday. Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
