I have this 1984 Monte Carlo SS for sale. It has a 5.0L 305Cu. In. V8 GAS OHV Naturally Aspirated engine coupled with a 3 speed 700R transmission. I have owned the car for approximately three years and have been slowly giving it the TLC it deserves. Since I have had it I have done following maintenance: rebuilt the transmission (shifts strong now), new 600 cfm carburetor, new radiator and thermostat, new water pump, downsized from a 292 camshaft to a 262 camshaft, fairly new battery as well. There are slightly wider tires on the rear than the front, and they are on Chevy Heartland rallies. There is very little rust on the body. The AC does not work but all the components are there and it pumps out nice heat. I am not sure what the actual mileage is, this car only has 5 digit mileage count instead of 6. It currently reads 33,00 + miles. For the past three years I have driven this car as my daily transportation. I have driven this car 3+ hours to Atlanta, GA, 5+ hours to Columbia, SC, and 6+ hours to Charleston, SC several times since I bought the car and I have full confidence that it will take me/you where you need to go. I have not raced this car. It runs a little rich, but it is road worthy and dependable. Although this is not a show car. I have seen very little of these cars in this good of shape. This car has a lot of potential for someone who wants to restore it or just ride it like it is...very cool car. I hate that I have to sell it, but I am making a career transition to organic farming and need a truck for hauling and everyday use. Thanks for your consideration.
This is an "AS IS/WHERE IS" Sale - no returns. Buyer handles all shipping costs. I reserve the right to close this solicitation early as this car is for sale locally also. Email me with any questions. Serious bidders only.

Chevy Trax engineer says GMC version possible
Mon, Dec 8 2014The Buick Encore is doing so well and its platform-mate the Chevrolet Trax has such good reviewer vibes going for it already, that a GMC version hasn't been ruled out. During the recent press launch, Automotive News asked lead engineer Al Manzor if the Trax could wear a GMC-branded suit, to which Manzor replied, "I think that is certainly possible." That's a long way from telling us anything about the probability of a GMC version of the Trax, and a legion of questions would need to be answered before it could happen. How would a GMC version be priced to leave room for the $26,465 GMC Terrain but not eat into sales of the $20,995 Trax or the $24,035 Encore? Or would that matter? Could it primarily be considered to encourage a new faction of The Yukon Set at the compact end, GMC buyers being famously committed to the marque? And of course, would there be a Denali version? It'll probably be a long while before we have any kind of answers, but if you want to see it happen, the door to your campaign of persuasion is at least ajar.

Recharge Wrap-Up: LAPD gets Zero MMX, Chevy's new inverter, Hyundai Tucson's new powertrains
Wed, Jul 16 2014Some police in Los Angeles will be riding Zero MMX electric motorcycles on duty. The LAPD is adding the fully electric police/military all-terrain bikes to its patrol fleet. According to Officer Steve Carbajal of the department's off-road unit, "It costs less than 50 cents to charge compared to using gallons of gas, maintenance is simple, and the community appreciates how quiet they are." The electric bikes, with their lack of noise and a headlight the rider can turn off, also have the benefit of stealth, giving the officers what Carbajal calls "an added tactical advantage." The MMX also has swappable batteries, is designed for quick ignition and has power reserve capabilities so the rider won't be caught with a dead battery while chasing down a perp. Read more at Ride Apart. Remember when it seemed like we'd never run out of oil, and giving your buddy five bucks for gas was actually a worthwhile gesture? Drivers of classic cars in Detroit were able to fill up their tanks at gas prices corresponding to their model year, thanks to a promotion by Hagerty Insurance for National Collector Car Appreciation Day on July 11. That meant prices from 21 to 90 cents a gallon, as the cars that showed up ranged from the years 1929 to 1989. That's about as affordable as charging your EV. Head over to Autoweek for more details and some photos from the event. The next-generation Chevrolet Volt will likely benefit from a new inverter being developed by General Motors. GM is about two-thirds of the way through the development of the new inverter, which should be ready in January 2016. The inverter, which has a peak output of 55 kilowatts a continuous output of 33 kilowatts, will be adaptable for use in other GM vehicles. Chevrolet is working to reduce the Volt's production costs by $10,000 per vehicle, which should make it more affordable, and the new inverter could help reach that goal should it make its way into the car. Read more at Green Car Reports. Hyundai is likely planning some interesting powertrain changes for the 2016 Tucson, says Green Car Reports. Plug-in hybrid? Maybe. Diesel? Probably not. "We are covering the waterfront on all alternative fuel strategies, from standard hybrid, to plug-in, battery-electric, and fuel cell," says Hyundai's US Chief Dave Zuchowski.
