1983 Monte Carlo SS numbers matchting 5.0 litre L69 and turbo 350, original paint, original interior, loaded with options, 86132 original miles. This car is in exceptional condition, runs and drives great and everything works A/C, radio and cassette player, clock, windows and locks, trunk release, etc. the only non stock items on car are aftermarket front springs and custom rear springs which lowered car about 1-2 inches from stock height, and exhaust tips. The engine has been completly gone through bored .030 new pistons, brass freeze plugs, crank polished, clevite 77 bearings, full three angle valve job and resurfaced heads, still has original special performance cam and aluminum intake, new carb, dist, starter, water pump, fuel pump, alt, egr, O2 sensor, belts, hoses, plug wires, radiator, heater core, AC delco battery. The front brakes are new with turned rotors, new wheel bearings and seals. New rear brake shoes with turned drums, tires have aprox 5-6000 miles still have excellent tread. This car is a great example of the limited production 83 SS most have been modified beyond return or repainted or just gone. The only issues this car has there is a small dink in rear trunk as illustrated with dime, there are a couple of road chips in paint on leading edge of front fender but to small for camera to pick up but under close inspection you can see them. The carb needs minor float adjustment once vehicle is warm it will start a little rich not enough to be an issue as far as performance so I have not botherd with it, and the kick down linkage has a small leak after sitting for more than a week it will leave a pea sized drop of trans fluid on floor, since trans just had service I did not want to drain fluid again to cure such a small issue. The car has always been garaged so there is no sun fading or damage never been in rain and only used for pleasure driving, all replacement parts used are American made GM or NAPA. I have factory service manual as well as build sheet original purchase paperwork from first owner, dealer literature and hand out. Please ask questions before bidding, auction winner is responsible for shipping, A 500.00 deposit is due at auctions close through PayPal and remaining balance due via cashiers check within seven days of auction close, I have clear title in hand, USA auction only, car can be stored here for a limited time while shipping is secured. Chevrolet considering midsize crossover to slot between Traverse and Equinox

Mon, Jan 9 2017

Crossovers are the new hotness, and automakers are looking to cash in by offering a size and shape for every customer. With Chevrolet's debut of the new 2018 Traverse in Detroit, which grew ever so slightly compared to the first-generation model, there is now a midsize-crossover-sized hole between the three-row Traverse and the compact Equinox. When asked about that obvious space, a Chevrolet spokesperson told us the company is looking into the possibility of expanding its crossover lineup. It should be a relatively simple thing to do, since all it would take is reskinning and rechristening the GMC Acadia with a bow tie, and we all know how much GM loves platform sharing. Although they're now different sizes, the new Acadia and Traverse still use the same platform; the Acadia is now on a short-wheelbase version of the C1XX while the Traverse uses long-wheelbase C1XX parts. A short-wheelbase Chevy built on the C1XX likely would be differentiated visually from both the Acadia and the larger Traverse. It may seem like flooding the lineup with more and more models would cannibalize sales of existing ones, but Chevrolet said it would rather have customers stay within the brand rather than going to another automaker. There have been whispers that some form of the Blazer name (possibly TrailBlazer) may make a return on a midsizer, but if it does don't expect an old-school body-on-frame SUV like the old one. In the end, if Chevy builds it, customers will come. Related Video:

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, hence  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950s and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with the American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
