This car was built in California and sold new in Hawaii. I bought it from the original owner in Hawaii (I was stationed there) and shipped it to Georgia. The car was rust proofed as a dealer option in Hawaii before sold and the original owner kept it garaged and only drove it on weekends. He had put 17,850 miles in it when I bought it. It now has 22,300 miles. I have kept it garaged since I bought it also. Even though this is an original non-restored matching numbers vehicle I have done the following repairs/maintenance/updates;

- A/C was converted to R134A in MAY13 (Compressor new also in MAY13)

- All around new shocks in MAY13

- New front calipers brake pads and brake fluid flush in JUN13

- New Edelbrock intake manifold and new Rochester 4BBL carburetor in JUL13.

- New heater core and hoses in JAN14

- New front end bushings and dampener JAN14

Things that are on my “to do” list (…maybe your to do list now ;)

*The windshield washer pump is not working. You can hear the motor engage but no water comes out. All the lines/tubing is there.

*The passenger side electric door lock is not working.

*There are a few scratches on the paint job. I covered them with paint touch up in order for them not to rust.

* There is a small 1/2 ” “stress” tear on the front bench seat upholstery around the power seat controls.

* It has a small oil leak from the engine rear main seal. It’s a 40 year old seal!

What else???? Let’s see... The tires have about 90% thread left. The spare matches the set and is never been used. (No, the tires are not 40 years old! Lol) The rims are the original steel 15 x 7 x 5.75 with the wire wheel, “Chevrolet Motor Division” original hub caps. The 8-track player works! As well as the AM/FM radio, all lights, turn signals, power windows and power seat. The interior is like new! From headliner to floors! Again, not restored or replaced but original. Never has been smoked in. It has the original matching numbers 350 CID V8 and Turbo 350 tranny. You probably will not find another 1974 Monte Carlo in such a good original condition and with such a desirable original color combination. (Most out there have red, blue, green or cream interiors!)

If you have any questions or want to see any specific pictures, please shoot me and email. The car is in Ft. Gordon, GA and I have the GA title in my name on hand. It will be your responsibility to pick it up or make arrangements to ship it.

Thank you for checking out the Monte. Good luck!

GM Recalling Another 2.7 Million Vehicles In Five Separate Campaigns

Thu, May 15 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles. The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles – some of them the same models – but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago. The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents. A further 112k Corvette models from the 2005-2007 model years are being called in for problems with their low-beam headlamps resulting from a flexing relay control circuit wire that's not meant to bend. GM says it is "aware of several hundred complaints" about this issue, but notes that there have been no reports of related accidents. In addition, over 19k examples of Cadillac CTS from the 2013 and 2014 model years are being recalled over windshield wipers that might not work after a jump start. Finally, GM is also bringing in 477 examples of its 2014 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe and GMC Sierra (though not the Yukon) to fix a problem with a tie rod in its steering rack. As ever, all recall repairs will be performed free of charge, and GM is now estimating that recall-related actions this quarter will result in an estimated $200-million charge against its second-quarter earnings. Read the full announcement from GM below for further details.

These are the 'Greenest' and 'Meanest' cars in 2015

Fri, Feb 6 2015

As has become tradition, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has come up with a ranking of what it refers to as the "greenest" cars of 2015, and, by way of contrast, a list of the so-called "meanest" cars, so those who value eco-friendliness over all else can choose which vehicles they should or should not consider buying. As you may expect, electric cars make up the majority of the greenest cars on the list, but, perhaps surprisingly to many, the Tesla Model S didn't make the cut. It's worth noting, too, that where the electricity an owner uses to charge their electric vehicle has a big impact on its overall environmental impact. "A car that is charged using electricity generated from natural gas or renewables is going to have significantly less impact on the environment than one charged on a coal-heavy grid," says ACEEE lead vehicle analyst Shruti Vaidyanathan. The ACEEE's list for 2015 looks very different than it did in 2014. It's an interesting collection, though – and we're sure this goes without saying, really – we'd recommend doing a bit more research into each vehicle and how it might fit into your daily life before making any purchase decisions. 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Convertible offers a few more views before reveal

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Over the weekend, Chevrolet released its first images of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Now, ahead of the droptop's official introduction tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show, the automaker has given us a few more shots of the softop C7 showing off the car's rump albeit from a high, strategically positioned angle.
From this angle, it's hard to get a sense for how long and flat the decklid really is, but we can easily see that, like the rest of the C7's design, the new convertible's decklid and tonneau cover are far more detailed than the current car. We also get a better look at the rear haunches sans brake vents, which have apparently been moved to underneath the car in order to accommodate the top's hard cover.
As for the overall styling of the C7 convertible, with the top erected, we get some idea of what a coupe design (as opposed to the Stingray's fastback shape) would look like on this car. The C5 Corvette most recently had a coupe model that did away with the large glass hatchback, and we recently reported on a low-cost "coupe" model potentially being added to the C7's repertoire.
