1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Up for auction is a very nice '72 Monte Carlo with its original drivetrain. The odometer reads 22,000 and some change. I believe it has 122,000 do to its age and the fact that it is 42 years old. The car has one newer repaint with very solid original panels throughout. The bottom of the doors and door jams are perfect. All body lines are as good as when it came out of the factory. There aren't any dings, dent, or scratches anywhere on the paint. The floor boards are solid and have never been patched as the same for the frame. All the stainless on the car is in great condition. The bumpers have been replaced with new ones do to some staining and discoloration to the originals. The vinal top was replaced do to fading and shrinking in some areas. The interior is all original except for a new carpet and rear package tray. The front bench seat has one small rip on the pipe seam on the driver's side and a small tear on the shoulder part of the passenger side. The dash has one crack in its usual area toward the center speaker. All the guages are in funtional order except for the famous clock. Yes, the factory tachometer works. Sporting its original drive train, this car has the 402 cubic inch, big block V-8, with Turbo 400 automatic transmission, and a 12 bolt non-posi rear end. A previous owner has replaced the factory exhaust manifolds with a set of ceramic coated headers with complete exhaust to the rear tailpipes. Along with that, some of the A/C components have been removed, but are somewhat available if the new owner wants them with the car. (Not sure what posseses people to remove original equipment and never put it back in its place). The engine has been refreshed with new cam & lifters, seals, berrings, and gaskets. It runs excellent, does not smoke, or leak. Same for the transmission. It has been fully rebuilt with a mild shift kit. Shifts smoothly and promptly. Car has the original Rally Wheels with BF Goodrich radial T/A white letter tires. This is a turn key car that you can drive anywhere and for any length of time with no worries. It has a nice smooth ride on the road and is very responsive in every way. Not to forget to mention a real head turner on the road. The car will be sold to the winning bidder in as is/where is condition do the fact that it is 42 years old and does not come with a warranty because it is privately owned. A paypal deposit of $500 will be due within 24 hours from the end of the auction, with the balence do within 7 days from the end of the auction. Buyer will be fully responsible to pick up the vehicle, or arrainge for the vehicle to be picked up. I do suggest that if you wish to inspect or send someone to inspect the car before you bid, you may do so. I have described the car to the best of my knowledge and you won't be disappointed. The car looks great in the photos but satisfaction is rendered when you see it in person. I ask that you please respect my 100% feedback. If you do not have the funds or have to get permission to buy this type of vehicle, then please do not bid on my auction. Thank you for understanding and happy bidding!

5 reasons why GM is cutting jobs, closing plants in a healthy economy
Tue, Nov 27 2018DETROIT — Even though unemployment is low, the economy is growing and U.S. auto sales are near historic highs, General Motors is cutting thousands of jobs in a major restructuring aimed at generating cash to spend on innovation. It's the new reality for automakers that are faced with the present cost of designing gas-powered cars and trucks that appeal to buyers now while at the same time preparing for a future world of electric and autonomous vehicles. GM announced Monday that it will cut as many as 14,000 workers in North America and put five plants up for possible closure as it abandons many of its car models and restructures to focus more on autonomous and electric vehicles. The reductions could amount to as much as 8 percent of GM's global workforce of 180,000 employees. The cuts mark GM's first major downsizing since shedding thousands of jobs in the Great Recession. The company also said it will stop operating two additional factories outside North America by the end of next year. The move to make GM get leaner before the next downturn likely will be followed by Ford Motor Co., which also has struggled to keep one foot in the present and another in an ambiguous future of new mobility. Ford has been slower to react, but says it will lay off an unspecified number of white-collar workers as it exits much of the car market in favor of trucks and SUVs, some of them powered by batteries. Here's a rundown of the reasons behind the cuts: Coding, not combustion CEO Mary Barra said as cars and trucks become more complex, GM will need more computer coders but fewer engineers who work on internal combustion engines. "The vehicle has become much more software-oriented" with millions of lines of code, she said. "We still need many technical resources in the company." Shedding sedans The restructuring also reflects changing North American auto markets as manufacturers continue to shift away from cars toward SUVs and trucks. In October, almost 65 percent of new vehicles sold in the U.S. were trucks or SUVs. That figure was about 50 percent cars just five years ago. GM is shedding cars largely because it doesn't make money on them, Citi analyst Itay Michaeli wrote in a note to investors. "We estimate sedans operate at a significant loss, hence the need for classic restructuring," he wrote. The reduction includes about 8,000 white-collar employees, or 15 percent of GM's North American white-collar workforce. Some will take buyouts while others will be laid off.
No, Cadillac is not killing its flagship CT6 sedan
Sat, Jul 22 2017Mark Twain never actually said that reports of his death had been greatly exaggerated. But if the Cadillac CT6 could talk, those are the exact words it would use. Speaking to Jalopnik, Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen confirmed, emphatically, "There is absolutely no plan, at all, to cancel the CT6." In fact, says de Nysschen, the CT6 will soon be the beneficiary of significant investment. "The [CT6] forms a very important part of our product strategy going forward for the brand. The car also has a very major contribution to make to the shaping of brand perceptions, and the transformational process that Cadillac is undergoing." For instance, expect the CT6 to spearhead General Motors' most advanced forays into self-driving automobile technology. Interestingly, though, the Cadillac ATS and CTS sedans probably won't live past their current generations as the automaker 're-balances its sedan portfolio.' Replacement models are "in development" right now, says de Nysschen, which will "much more clearly separate the market position, both in terms of target customer demographics, in terms of market segments and in terms of price points between these three sedan lineups." So, that's confirmation that the Cadillac CT6 is going to stick around for a while. But what of other models cited by Reuters to potentially be killed, like the Buick LaCrosse and Chevy Impala and Volt? Read our take on that here, but suffice it to say that we don't think they're in danger, either. GM is the latest automaker accused of diesel emissions cheating
Thu, May 25 2017Volkswagen and Ram need to make room on the diesel-emissions bench for General Motors. America's largest automaker was accused in a lawsuit on Thursday of rigging hundreds of thousands of diesel trucks with at least three so-called defeat devices to ensure that the trucks would meet federal and state emission standards, even if they generated more pollution in real-world driving. According to the complaint, on-road emissions testing conducted for the plaintiffs found that Duramax-equipped trucks produced NOx pollutants, comprised of nitrogen and oxygen atoms, two to five times higher than legally permitted, and "many times" higher than their gasoline counterparts. The proposed class-action lawsuit was filed in federal court in Detroit on behalf of people who own or lease more than 705,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks fitted with "Duramax" engines from 2011 to 2016 model years. The lawsuit seeks remedies including possible refunds or restitution for lost vehicle value, plus punitive damages. It adds to legal problems for Detroit-based GM, which has already paid about $2.5 billion in penalties and settlements over faulty ignition switches linked to 124 deaths. GM joins at least five automakers whose diesel emissions have been scrutinized by regulators or consumers. They include VW, which has admitted to cheating; Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler; Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Peugeot and Renault. GM spokesman Dan Flores called the claims "baseless," and said the trucks comply with US Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards and California's own tough standards. Shares of GM were down 69 cents, or 2.1 percent, at $32.50 in afternoon trading, after earlier falling to $31.93. The GM lawsuit was filed by several law firms, including Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, which helped reach multibillion-dollar settlements with VW on behalf of drivers and dealers. The case is Fenner et al v General Motors LLC et al, US District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, No. 17-11661. The named plaintiffs are Andrei Fenner of Mountain View, California and Joshua Herman of Sulphur, Louisiana. They said they would not have bought their respective 2011 Sierra and 2016 Silverado trucks, or would have paid less for them, had they known about the alleged rigging. Joseph Spak, an RBC Capital Markets analyst, in a research report said "negative publicity" from the lawsuit could drive buyers to trucks from Ford or even Fiat Chrysler's Ram.
