I received this vehicle with approximately 36,000 miles on it, and it was used primarily for highway miles. It averages about 30 miles per gallon on fuel. I always used Purilator 1 oil filters and Mobil 1 10W30 oil, with filter changes and oil changes at the vehicle recommended times for service. The engine performs very well and does not use oil between service intervals. It has recently had new brakes, rotors and tires installed, they may have 10,000 miles on them now. The vehicle is equipped with a trailer hitch with a 1.25 inch receiver for light trailer usage and wired for a trailer light plug in. The windshield was hit with a lage clod in the lower riders corner, which left a circular crack, which you can see in the photos. The A/C pump recently locked up and a used A/C pump was installed with new idler pulleys and grooved drive belt. Unfortunately when freon was installed the pump kept cycling and did no cool, so I unplugged it so it would not continue to run and do further damage. There is only one key-less control and it has quit working, I installed a new battery but it still will not work. I have been informed that it may only need reprogramming. This vehicle has current inspection.
Overall the drive train is in very good running condition which will provide a lot of very economical and reliable transportation for a long time. This vehicle will sell for well below blue book personal sales price. If you are looking for an economical solid mechanical vehicle, this on is for you!

1956 Corvette SR-2 factory racer profiled
Mon, Jan 19 2015The Chevrolet Corvette has earned its place as America's sports car, capable of taking on the best the world can throw at it. Much of that winning reputation was earned with victories on the track. Now, there was a chance to own an early piece of the nameplate's motorsport history in the form of a 1956 Corvette SR-2 racer, but some deep pockets were necessary to get it, with an estimate of $6.885 million. The story behind the SR-2 is fascinating. In 1956, famous General Motors designer Harley Earl's son was racing in a Ferrari. Obviously, that wasn't going to work given his father's position within the automaker, and Harley and Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov got to work on a faster racecar. Three were made. This one was reportedly the first, and for 1957 it also received a fuel-injected V8 making a claimed 331 horsepower and four-speed manual gearbox, according to "Corvette Mike," the owner and seller. The SR-2 went on display in Scottsdale, AZ appropriately timed to coincide with the big Barrett-Jackson auction there that wrapped up this weekend. The car wasn't part of that event; instead marque specialist Mike Vietro sold the racer as a private treaty sale. Company spokesperson Troy Worrell told Autoblog both the bids and identities of the bidders will remain undisclosed. The video above goes into even deeper detail about this rare, finned Vette or check out the car's full description for even more info.
Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]
Fri, 25 Jan 2013The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?
