This 1978 Chevrolet Malibu Estate wagon was purchased from the original owner who was the proverbial little old lady.  This classy gal took great care of the car making sure not to drive during the winter months and keeping the seats and carpets covered.
The car currently has 30,146 original miles and is rust free.  The white color really shows off the wood grain which is in excellent condition,  The tan vinyl interior has 2 seats.  When the 2nd seat is up the cargo area has a designed to fit carpet.  The second seat can be lowered to provide lots of space.  The carpet is in excellent condition as well as the dash and door panels.  I did put in a new headliner so the interior is spic 'n span.  The car has ice cold factory air conditioning, factory tachometer and gauges, tilt, electric rear window with defogger.
Car has power steering, power disc brakes, tinted windows, luggage rack and rear window dust wing.  The car has a v-6 motor and automatic transmission.
Currently the car has 17 x 7 Torq Thrust wheels on front with 17 x 8 on the back.  Front rims have 235/45ZR17 Toyo tires and 275/40ZR17 Toyo tires on the rear.  Wheels were aligned when these were put on. The original spare has never been on the ground.  In fact, it probably still has the 1978 air!!!
Since the car was purchased from the original owner, I have the original window sticker and build sheet.  I also have the original bill of sale, copy of the first title, original rust proofing guarantee, owners manual, and other original documentation.    Also have all plates that were on the car since it was licensed.  Yes we are lucky this little gal saved everything!!!!!!!
The wagon was purchased from the original owner by my son.  When my son left for Florida, he gave the wagon to me.  I now have the restoration of my 1967 Chevelle
Super Sport done so have less time to drive the little wagon.
Buyer will be responsible for picking up car after payment has been made.  Selling in the continental US only. I reserve the right to discontinue this auction at any time.

GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.

GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?

Fri, Jul 21 2017

General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.

Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV

Mon, Jul 20 2015

A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV
