1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 5.0l on 2040-cars
Mineral Point, Wisconsin, United States
I have for auction my 1970 307 V8 Chevelle Malibu. It has had a recent tune up that involved replacing the spark plugs, new radiator, oil change and cleaning and sealing of the gas tank, and seems to be good runner. This car has also had new coil springs put on in the back and was lowered 2 inches. This car was a hard top that someone cut the top off of due to roof damage. So it currently does not have a roof. Whoever chopped the top did what I would call a good job, as they left plenty of metal to put a new roof on, and a new roof is a fairly easy to find part that is also not overly expensive. This would be a really cool father son project. Also, you could chop it further and make a really cool custom. I planned to make a custom removable roof, but have too many other projects. This car was also a four door that was converted into a two door; the driver's side door is also fixed/ welded shut so I would call it a straight up one door. This was done by a previous owner some years ago for structural soundness, and it appears the car is straight and sound. It appears that all of the doors could be made operable. As for rust, the body panels have been patched in and primed, they definitely need finish work to be perfect but look pretty good. The frame and floors have the usual surface rust underneath but seem solid enough. There is rust through in the trunk. This car really turns heads and gets lots of thumbs up, and has been driven it throughout the midwest. Price reflects that I consider this a project car. Sold as is, and drive home at your risk please. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required by the winning bidder within 24 hours of auction closing. Remaining payment by paypal or cash in person. If you are a serious buyer and have questions I can be reached at 608 553-3412 weekday evenings before 10 PM central time, or on weekends.
Please read this description before bidding, and PLEASE do not bid unless you intend to buy. Thanks for looking. |

Corvette Stolen In Detroit Returned To Owner After 33 Years
Wed, Jun 25 2014A Detroit man had his stolen Corvette returned 33 years after it disappeared while parked on one of Detroit's main drags, according to ABC 7. The last time George Talley saw his 1979 Corvette was on a July day in 1981, when it disappeared from its parking spot on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit. He had given up hope of ever seeing his car again, until a phone call from AAA brought his sporty ride home. Authorities had come across a Corvette with a questionable VIN in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. When they ran the number Talley's stolen car report came up. The car is still in pretty good shape and only has 47,000 miles on the odometer. Talley wasn't sure how he could get the car back home, but General Motors stepped in and agreed to cover the cost of bringing the 'Vette home. Talley has always had a passion for Detroit-made muscle cars. "I've always liked Corvettes. It was attractive. The ladies like 'em," Talley told ABC 7.
Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
Driving McLaren's Sports Car and 'The Best Corvette' at the M1 Concourse | AutoblogVR
Wed, Apr 12 2017There's nothing better than a track day. Great cars on a great track are always great fun. Recently, we had the opportunity to check out the new M1 Concourse in Pontiac, MI, with two of the coolest cars in the game; a McLaren 570S and a Corvette Grand Sport. Driving the 570S was Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore, and he didn't hold back. Getting behind the wheel of the McLaren, Greg explains that although this is McLaren's idea of a sports car, "it's all relative." Topping out at 204 miles per hour with 562 horsepower, there's no two ways about it: this thing is a monster. While the 570S was fantastic, we had another sports car we wanted to drive and editor-in-chief Mike Austin was just the man for the job. Enter the Corvette Grand Sport. Mike pushed all 460 horses of the 'Vette to the limit and came away impressed with the car, even calling it "the best Corvette." Comparing it to its more powerful sibling, the Z06, Mike goes so far as to say the Z06 has too much power, while the Grand Sport seems to be the third bear's bowl of porridge in the Corvette family... It's just right. We captured all the action of the day with 360° cameras so you can feel like you're right there in the car sitting shotgun with us! You can check out the McLaren and Corvette laps above, but the best way to view them is through the AutoblogVR app, where you can watch the videos on your VR headset or in a nice swivel-y office chair so you can take in the sights all around you. Each month, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll be posting them here on Autoblog, but for the best experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play. Be sure to try it with a cardboard viewer, too!
