Manufactured in Fremont (March, 3rd Week, 1965)

The Malibu was purchased from Bob Coyle Chevrolet, 117 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA and the original owner took delivery on 3/23/65.  The car is being offered for sale for the first time in its garaged life.  The car was never a hand me down, never seen a high school parking or mistreated in anyway.

The car went under a repaint in 1983.  Madeira Maroon paint surface is crazed on the hood, top and truck.   Besides being 30-years old, the crazing is due to the original paint not being removed but sanded, primed and repainted with lacquer.

No body corrosion outside of the standard spots associated with the Chevelle Malibu, which is along the lip of the sheet metal under the truck where a rubber strip lays on top to give a finished appearance to the bumper application.  Moisture and dirt tended to gather between the metal and rubber and set up corrosion.

This car is a 100% California clean find.  The car has been parked in a garage in Santa Clara County since the year 2000.  It has been brought back to life beginning in June 2013.

The following is the work that has been completed.

Rebuilt Carburetor

New Fuel Pump and Filter

New Fuel Tank and fuel level sending unit

New Water Pump

Cooling System Flushed and Coolant Replaced

New Heater Hoses and Upper & Lower Radiator Hoses

New Front and Rear Brake Cylinders (four wheel drum brakes)

New Master Brake Cylinder

New radial Uni-Royal Tiger Paw whitewall tires

Frigette AC Unit blows cold (evacuated & recharged with new R134a refrigerant)

There are no tears in the upholstery and the headliner is perfect.  Doors and windows open and close easily.  The driver side roll up window needs adjustment in the door to prevent minor sagging.  This car does not exhibit ever having been in an accident.  The original owners said they got bumped in the teacher’s parking lot on two occasions in the side fender panels.  These events are not detectable on the body.  The car is straight, the sheet metal is in great shape and the bumpers are perfect with out dents or even crooked.

The engine long block has never been opened.  The car received regular maintenance, starts easily and runs smoothly.  The Powerglide transmission shifts appropriately and smoothly.  It handles like a car built in the mid-60’s but it runs true and straight on the freeway with zero pull to left or right.  With the new brake cylinders the manual brakes operate smoothly and evenly when stopping.

The original 1965 Chevrolet Owner Protection Plan with the Protect-O-Plate comes with the car.  The original working AM pushbutton radio is with the car and stored carefully in the truck.

This automobile is a blank sheet of white paper to become whatever the 2nd titled owner desires the car to become.  It is a rare find.

Can Fernando Alonso win Indy? Here's why and why maybe not

Sat, May 27 2017

SPEEDWAY, IN – The month of May has been a joy ride for Fernando Alonso at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The two-time Formula 1 champion came to Indy having never turned left in a race car without also turning right. But he acquired such a feel for Indy's 2 1/2 -mile rectangle during a month of practice and qualifying that he's considered a strong contender to win the 101st Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, rookie or not. "You're not trying to bring somebody on who has very little experience driving very high-performance cars," said 2003 Indy 500 winner Gil deFerran, who this month has helped Alonso learn the nuances that make the speedway such a tough place to conquer. "I suppose it would be a little bit different if you were dealing with a younger, much less experienced person." Driving a McLaren Honda from the potent Andretti Autosport team, Alonso was consistently near the top of the speed charts in practice, he qualified fifth fastest at 231.300 mph, and he handled runs in heavy traffic like a driver who'd done it many times before. But those were the prelims. The race is another creature. "The car felt the best (it has) in the last two weeks. I was making some moves, taking some different lines. I am extremely happy." Other drivers say the speedway looks different on race day when the crowd, expected to top 300,000, fills the grandstands and makes an already narrow track seem even tighter. The three-wide rolling start is something Alonso has never experienced, and he will see the green flag from the middle of the second row between Takuma Sato and J.R. Hildebrand. And the space he'll be given by his competitors in the first 180 laps may disappear In the last 20 when it's every driver for themselves. Can a rookie like Alonso win this race? Absolutely, as Andretti driver Alexander Rossi showed last year when his team used a fuel-mileage strategy to win in his first taste of Indy. We're talking about Fernando Alonso here, who easily could show his rookie stripes to the rest of the field most of the day. His best lap in Friday's final practice, 226.608, was fifth fastest in the field and, more important, he said the car felt comfortable in heavy traffic. "The car felt the best (it has) in the last two weeks," Alonso said. "I was making some moves, taking some different lines.

Two More Recalls Push GM Total To 4.8 Million In A Month

Mon, Mar 31 2014

General Motors announced two more recalls late Friday, bringing to 4.8 million the number of cars, trucks and SUVs the automaker has called back for repairs in the past month. The string of recalls, topped by an ignition switch problem in compact cars now linked to 13 crash deaths, has embarrassed the company and sidetracked its new CEO, who started work just over two months ago. GM has admitted knowing about the switch problem a decade ago, yet it didn't recall any cars until February. The recall delay has brought two congressional investigations and probes by the Justice Department and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Late Friday night, GM announced it would recall 490,000 late-model pickup trucks and SUVs because transmission oil cooling lines weren't secured properly in their fittings. Transmission oil can leak from a fitting and hit hot surfaces, causing fires, the company said in a statement. GM said it knows of three fires and no injuries. The recall affects Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks from the 2014 model year, as well as 2015 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe SUVs and the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs. All have six-speed automatic transmissions. The Silverado is GM's top-selling vehicle and an important profit center for the company. The GMC Sierra also is among GM's top sellers. Dealers will inspect the transmission oil cooling line fittings and make sure they're securely seated, at no cost to owners. Also Friday night, GM announced the recall of 172,000 Chevrolet Cruze compact cars because the right front axle shaft can fracture and separate while being driven. The recall affects cars from the 2013 and 2014 model years equipped with 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engines. If a shaft fractures, the wheels would lose power without warning and the cars would coast to a stop. GM says it has warranty reports of several dozen shaft fractures. It is not aware of any crashes or injuries. Dealers will replace the shafts free of charge. The recall allows dealers to resume selling affected Cruzes. GM issued a stop sale order on the cars Thursday night. The recall also covers about 2,500 replacement shafts used to fix manual transmission Cruzes that were recalled last September. In all, GM has recalled 4.8 million vehicles since last month, two million more than the company sold last year in the U.S.

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.
