Just in time for summer, put the power top down and cruise around town in this gorgeous 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle (Malibu) Convertible, entire car was restored about 3 years ago with new fire engine red paint, very nice professional job as you can tell by the pictures no waves or bondo, no rust, no orange peel, nice deep shine. All new bumpers and emblems were installed at that time. Complete interior was also replaced 3 years ago and still looks amazing with new carpet, new seats, new dash pad, new door panels front and rear, aftermarket radio was added with speakers but nothing was cut so could easily go back to original. All the gauges work with the exception of the clock. Lights, turn signals, wipers, horn, etc. all work as they should. Power Top was replaced 3 years ago as well and is in great shape and works perfectly it has 2 small spots about an inch long by the base where it meets the quarter panel where the stitching came slightly undone (pictured) could possibly be stitched back but I never worried about it since it doesn’t affect anything and isn’t noticeable I am just picky and like to mention anything I notice in my ads. Engine bay is nice and clean and it is equipped with a 350 that was rebuilt with about 4000 miles on it now. It runs extremely well just bump the key and it fires right up. A mild cam and holley aluminum intake were installed. True dual exhaust gives it that nice muscle car rumble and sound as you drive by. Transmission is a turbo 350 that was rebuilt at the time of the engine rebuild, it shifts extremely nice no slipping or hesitation. Rear is an 8.2 with 3:23 gears for nice highway cruising with the top down. Underneath is all original and is overall solid it has 2 small patches in the floor boards one behind the driver seat and one behind the passenger seat that was done correctly with metal welded on top of it but everything else is original. Trunk is in very nice shape with a spare and plenty of room for luggage on those road trips down the coast. All new brakes that stop on a dime and will put you through the windshield, no power steering but you wouldn’t notice as it steers extremely easy. Nice rallys with new tires gives it a smooth and trouble free ride. All the glass is in excellent shape no cracks. As you can tell by the pictures it is an extremely nice cruiser that you could have many trouble free years with and get thumbs up everywhere, excellent driver super dependable turn the key and enjoy doesn’t run hot at all. As with any 50 year old classic car it is sold AS-IS, where is with no warranty expressed or implied. I encourage and welcome local inspections as the car is as advertised. I have a clear Florida title for the new owner. Bid to win won’t find another one nicer for the money; any questions call Frank 863-381-3499 Thanks!

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

Recharge Wrap-up: Chevy Volt class action suit proposed, Tesla stock could outperform in 2015

Sat, Dec 27 2014

A class action suit has been proposed against General Motors for a steering problem in the Chevrolet Volt. The plaintiffs claim that a defect can cause the steering to freeze intermittently, and that General Motors either knows or should have known about the problem. The case, filed in New Jersey, also claims that defective parts are replaced with the same or similar parts, which are also defective. The plaintiffs say that claims for the 100-plus-member class exceed $5 million. Read more at Law360 or at BigClassAction. Tesla Motors stock (TSLA) has risen after weeks of losses. It gained 5.4 percent during the week ending December 19, when it closed at $219.29 per share. Since then, it rose slightly more, closing at $222.26 on December 24. Morgan Stanley lowered its target price on Tesla stock from $320 to $290, predicting lower sales on the upcoming Model III than expected before, but still called Tesla a good long-term investment. Analysts at CNBC predicted Tesla to be the best performing stock of 2015. Read more at ETF Daily News. Oslo- and New York-based architecture firm Snohetta has designed a zero-emissions house that also charges an electric car. The ZEB Pilot House, built in Larvik, Norway, uses a solar panel on the roof to power the house, which also provides enough excess energy to charge an EV. To make the most of energy most efficiently, the house uses smart technology to use as much energy as it can once it's harvested. This means one can turn on appliances like the washing machine remotely while the sun is at the optimum angle in the sky - perhaps during mid-day when the residents are at work. The house also uses organic materials and is designed to save as much energy as possible. Read more at Wired.

2015 Chevrolet Trax

Thu, Dec 4 2014

After the obligatory product presentation for the 2015 Trax, I caught up with Steve Majoros, Chevrolet's director of marketing for crossovers and cars, and asked him to elaborate on which markets his planners believe will be the hot starters for this tiny CUV. Without much hesitation, Majoros began to click off traditional sales havens for Subaru, namely, New England and the snowy bits of the East Coast, Colorado and the Pacific Northwest. That news might not surprise you, but it did me. Perhaps it's something as basic as the Trax's tall-hatchback looks, or the emphasis Chevrolet put on the urban driving cycle during my test in San Diego. But before my chat with Majoros, I'd considered this a crossover pointed at the Millennial city mouse more than his bumpkin cousin. But a closer look had me re-examining the granola cred of Chevy's smallest crossover. Having spent my fair share of time in New England and around New Englanders, I started by mentally listing the Trax's Subaru-like traits: practicality, thrift, all-weather ability and, well, just a dash of ugliness. (I suppose a hatchback needn't always be ugly to sell in Maine, or Boulder or Portland... but a 'distinctive' face doesn't seem to hurt.) After a day of driving through sunny San Diego and its surroundings, I can say that Trax makes an interesting case for itself against the standard bearers of the L.L. Bean set, but I'm less sure of its argument for young urbanites. The Trax looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. Chevy's has downsized its own, rather conservative crossover styling to fit the proportions of the subcompact Trax; to my eyes, it looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. That's fine for offering a cohesive look for the Chevy family of crossovers, but it seems out of step with the rest of the segment. If the Trax's current competitive set were the cast of a high school-based TV show, the Kia Soul would play the lovable nerd, the Nissan Juke perhaps the outsider musician and the Subaru XV Crosstrek the athletic outdoorsy kid. Chevy may see the Trax as the hipster chick wearing intentionally ironic mom jeans, but to me the styling is a little too on the nose; more like an actual grownup trying to hang with the kids. These mom jeans are genuine. Per my earlier point, that quasi-conservative look may be just fast enough for staid New Englanders, but I have a hard time seeing the bluff, big-Bowtied front end playing in Bushwick or Wicker Park.
