Up for sale is a 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Z34 with a rare 5-speed manual transmission (Getrag 284). The car has about 225k miles on it, but the engine has only 120k miles on it. The transmission is original. This car has been my daily driver for years. I don’t have enough time to dedicate to this car and I’d like to find it a new home. I’m looking for someone within the Z34 or wbody community to buy this car and keep it going for years to come.

The car overall condition is fair. It is a daily driver, but it could use some work (see “issues” below). I will also include various new parts I accumulated over the years that I never installed or never needed (such as a water pump and brake pads, although they are not needed).

Clear title. Cash buyer, in-person only. Car is located in Minneapolis MN.  Feel free to ask questions.

New Parts & Recent Work:

Brand new battery

Brand new ignition module

New starter

New rear struts

Newer rear brake lines, rotors, calipers, and pads

Timing belt (205k miles)

Clutch (155k miles)

Has NGK iridium plugs

Has cold air intake and cone filter

Issues:

-Shifting issues – it requires more force than usual to move the shifter to the left side to shift into 1st and 2nd. Each gear still works and there is no grinding. Both shifter linkage cables appear to be fine, so I assume it is an issue with the internal gear selector forks.

-Headlights (needs dimmer switch, which will be included but needs to be installed – in the meantime the high beams work)

-Parking brake (needs new cables and lever – have parts, just need to be installed)

-Needs new ABS sensors (I’ve been driving without them for years)

-Minor oil leak(s)

-Driver’s side door latch and lock (must remain unlocked in order to function properly – I have a replacement from a salvage yard that needs to be installed)

-Driver’s side power window (I have a new motor and regulator that need to be installed)

-A/C (not sure if it needs a Freon refill or a new compressor)

-Likely needs alignment

-Will need outer tie rods soon (have parts, just need to be installed)

-Trunk leaks small amount of water occasionally (have new weather stripping, just needs to be installed)

-Catalytic convertor rattles a bit, nothing significant.

-Head unit needs to be reinstalled (alpine CDA 7863 included)

-Rear speakers need to be reinstalled or aftermarket speakers with boxes can be hooked up to existing aftermarket wires)

-Rust forming over wheel wells and a couple other common areas

2016 Chevy Volt sneak peek at CES

Mon, Jan 5 2015

Here it is, folks – your first real glimpse at the 2016 Chevrolet Volt. The gasoline-electric sedan will officially debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week, but Chevy gave us a sneak peek of its redesigned Volt at a media event in Las Vegas late Sunday, as part of its CES festivities. There isn't a ton to see here, and sorry about the low quality video (and for us not standing front and center during the reveal). But we can clearly see the car's redesigned front fascia – something recently previewed at a fan event in Los Angeles. For another view, check out a high-res photo of the new Volt from our friends at The Verge, here. Chevy even tweeted a photo of the Volt's new nose on its official Volt Twitter account, which you can see below. The automaker didn't divulge any details about its new Volt, but we already know quite a bit. For starters, the Volt will use a new, 1.5-liter gasoline engine and won't require premium fuel. It'll have more EV range and a bigger battery, too. We'll have a whole mess of information when the 2016 Volt is fully revealed in Detroit in about one week's time. In the meantime, here are some more looks at the Volt, courtesy of the Twitterverse. We're so excited about #NextGenVolt we brought it out early at #CES2015! GM expected to debut two new crossovers at Detroit Auto Show

Thu, Dec 15 2016

Next month, General Motors is expected to debut two new crossovers at the North American International Auto Show. That's according to Automotive News and The Wall Street Journal, which reports that the successors to the aging Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain will finally make their debut. The two crossovers have been on sale since 2009 and 2010 respectively and are due for updates as the competition has newer models on the market. Both crossovers play in growing market segments where sales success is crucial for the respective brands. GM, and the automotive industry as a whole, has been shifting its focus towards crossovers in the last few years. The Traverse and the Terrain are some of the oldest SUVs on the market and are in dire need of an update. GMC's Acadia, the former corporate clone to the Traverse (and Buick Acadia), switched to a new platform in 2016. And the Terrain's platform-mate, the Chevrolet Equinox, was revealed a few months ago. Both the new Chevy and GMC models are expected to go on sale late in 2017 as 2018 models. Look for a follow up to the Traverse's sister, the Buick Enclave, to make an appearance soon. Fullsize GM SUVs have a problem that's making owners sick

Thu, Dec 31 2015

Some fullsize SUV owners are getting sick, thanks to a buffeting and vibration problem in 2015 model year examples of the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, Cadillac Escalade, and GMC Yukon. According to owners' complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue can vary from an annoying vibration inside the cabin to an experience so severe that it leads to dizziness and headaches. General Motors is aware of the complaints, but the fix isn't so simple. According to spokesperson Tom Wilkinson to Autoblog, the company "has been tracking this issue for a while." The problem has a fairly low incidence rate, but when it does occur the issue can be "uncomfortable and annoying for owners." There's no precise cause for the issue, Wilkinson claims, and in some cases, simply balancing the tires or changing the door seals can make it go away. However, not all of the fixes are so simple. AutoGuide dug deep into the problem and discovered a GM preliminary information bulletin that advised dealers to remove the headliner and to check the roof's bonds to the bows that go across the vehicle. However, that document included a note that the solution might not entirely eliminate things. According to AutoGuide, adding Dynamat insulation to the roof sometimes helped the problem. A GM spokesperson also told AutoGuide the company fixed the problem at the end of the 2015 model year, and didn't go into any more detail. This roof issue seems linked to some of the worst droning in these SUVs. According to one complaint from a 2015 Suburban owner to NHTSA: "Roof will not remain attached to the roof bows. This causes the buffeting similar to a window being down when all are up. The results span from annoying to painful." A 2015 Yukon owner claims to have another alleged cause for the problem in a NHTSA complaint from February 2015. This person brought their SUV to the dealer seven times over the course of four weeks for vibrations. The dealer replaced the driveshaft, suspension components, and more, but nothing worked. According to an engineer to the service adviser: "In an effort to prevent roll overs, they designed the frame and body mounts too stiff. There are 40 engineers working on issues, they have no solutions that work across the board." Wilkinson told Autoblog that GM is working with customers on an individual basis to rectify things. Since these are newer vehicles, dealers should also fix the problem under warranty.
