I am reposting this because the high bidder in my buy now/best offer ad had a family emergency and had to back out.  I have to move soon so I set a very low reserve.  Because I'm under a time deadline, I am asking for thousands less than other 2006 Impalas are going for--even the ones in terrible condition with over 150,000+ miles on them. My loss is your gain.  The "buy it now" price alone is $2,000 below its appraised value and $1,150 less than the best offer I got previously.  Please shoot me a message if you have questions or would like to make an offer.  I have advertised it locally and because I'm moving away, I won't be waiting for the highest offer that comes in, I will accept the first reasonable offer I receive so this deal won't last.

This 2006 Impala is in excellent mechanical condition.  It runs and drives like new and is fast and responsive yet is not a gas-guzzler.  I love this car and have maintained it meticulously but I have to move and I can't take it with me so I am highly motivated to sell and am open to all offers.  There are absolutely no issues with the chassis/frame, engine/power train, transmission, steering, brakes, fuel delivery, exhaust, cooling or electrical systems.  I've never missed a scheduled service.  I've taken care of it so it will take care of you.  I traded in my two previous Impalas and they had 210,000 miles (2005 Impala) on one and 260,000 miles (2006 Impala) on the other.  They still drove like they were brand new and both had their original engines and transmissions.  This Impala was my commuter car while I was in New York state and therefore the mileage is almost entirely all highway driving.  You will have no problem getting 250,000 miles plus out of it.

Color: Silver/Tan

--2006 Impala received highest rating possible (5/5 stars) for front impact driver and passenger safety.  In frontal offset crash testing, the 2006 Impala earned a "good" rating, which is the highest possible
--On-board
information center allows you to customize lock/unlock features, audible warnings (horn, chime) and after-shutdown headlight settings
--After-market window tint (darker backseat and rear windows)
--Remote keyless entry with remote trunk release
 --Power windows and locks
--Air conditioning and heat both work perfectly
--Cruise control
--CD player with 3.5mm input and window-integrated antenna
--Dual airbags
--Driver seat has lumbar support
--Has a ton of trunk space
--Comes with two extra tires and an extra steel wheel (in addition to the spare tire)

Cosmetic issues: there is a dent in the front passenger quarter-panel (see photos).  There is a small dent on the hood (see photos), a small dent in the rear passenger quarter panel (see photos).  There is a small (dime-size) cloth tear in one seat (see photos) and a small crack on the rear bumper (see photos).  I had the electric passenger mirror replaced with a new one but it has not been color-matched.  It has antenna mounts on the trunk which are visible in one of the pictures.  I was quoted $180 to fix the dents and $75 for painting the mirror.
Thanks for looking!

Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?

Sat, Sep 23 2017

If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below. First 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06s en route to owners [w/video]

Tue, Dec 2 2014

Pretty much right on schedule, Chevrolet has begun shipping the very first customer examples of its 650-horsepower, supercharged Corvette Z06. In fact, according to General Motors, the earliest Z06s could be in customer hands by the end of this week. "It has been an incredible opportunity to work on Chevy's most capable model," said Jeff Lamarche, manager of Chevy's Bowling Green Assembly plant. "It truly is an amazing car, and we're thrilled to get them into the hands of our eager customers." Prices for the Z06 start at $78,995 for the hardtop model, while the first-ever Z06 Convertible kicks off at $83,995. Take a look below for the official press release from Chevrolet, and while you're down there, we've slipped in a new video of Corvette Racing's Tommy Milner taking a hot lap of Road Atlanta in a Z06, complete with some Performance Data Recorder footage. First 2015 Corvette Z06s on Their Way to Customers Most capable model in Chevrolet's history now shipping from Bowling Green BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Chevrolet is now shipping the all-new 2015 Corvette Z06 coupe from Bowling Green Assembly and some early customers could receive the much-anticipated supercar later this week. "It has been an incredible opportunity to work on Chevy's most capable model," said Jeff Lamarche, plant manager of General Motors' Bowling Green Assembly plant, "It truly is an amazing car, and we're thrilled to get them into the hands of our eager customers." The new Corvette Z06 offers the most choice for customers in the model's history. It is the first Z06 to offer an available eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission and, thanks to a stronger aluminum frame, a removable roof panel. In addition, it is the first time since 1963 that the Z06 is available as a convertible – which will arrive in early 2015. The new LT4 supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine is SAE-certified at 650 horsepower (485 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft of torque (881 Nm) at 3,600 rpm – making the 2015 Corvette Z06 the most powerful production car ever from General Motors and one of the most powerful production cars available in the United States. To balance performance and efficiency, the LT4 leverages a trio of advanced technologies – direct injection, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and continuously variable valve timing –with a new, more efficient supercharger. The LT4 helps make the Corvette Z06 the most capable car in the brand's history.
