Here you have up for auction is a rare 1996 Impala SS sedan in the lowest production color in 1996, Dark Grey Green Metallic. I have the original window sticker, original spare, and also all records (including the buyers order and payment books) from when this car was new up until I began to restomod it.This car started off as a high mileage project that I bought from the original owner 5 years ago. My intentions were to make it what it should have been from the factory and I have spent over $10k on parts alone for this magnificent car. Over the years, I have had some issues with both my personal life and with the car and I will mention them below. Nothing major happened to the overall condition of the car, but there are some issues that need to be corrected. First, I want to mention that the car is NOT RUNNING and that the motor and wiring harness are all that are left to be done to this car. EVERYTHING ELSE ON THIS CAR HAS BEEN EITHER UPGRADED OR REPLACED. The list includes the following:
Drivetrain:
-Rebuilt posi-rear end with 3.73 gears installed
-Rebuilt transmission with Transgo shift kit installed for stage II (that is normal shifts under normal throttle and crisp/fim shift at 100% throttle).
-B&M Holeshot 3000 9.5 Torque Converter (matched up to the camshaft and rear end).
-Extra capacity transmission oil pan (still new in the box).
-External transmission cooler (brand new in the box).
Performance:
-Edelbrock LT4 top end kit (LT4 Heads, LT4 Intake, 58mm Throttle Body) with Comp Cams 07-503-8 camshaft (Full dyno test of this combo here: http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tech/0912phr_lt1_block_and_cams/viewall.html).
-Comp Cams 1.6 ratio roller rockers.
-Trickflow hardened pushrods.
-Ford Racing 30 lb. injectors (cleaned and rebuilt with new o-rings and screens).
-MSD Ignition upgrades (6AL Ignition box and Ignition coil).
-TB coolant bypass delete.
-Billet EGR/air pump delete.
-K&N Cold air intake
-Clear Image Gen II Tri-Y custom headers with ceramachrome coating inside and out ($1500).
-Clear Image Hi-flow matching catalytic converters ($300).
-Custom X-pipe.
-Dynomax Ultra Flow SS Mufflers (Highest flowing on the market) with resonators for "sleeper" effect.
Brakes/Suspension:
-Stainless steel brake lines (Brand new in the box).
-Brake bolt metering upgrade kit (Changes proportioning valve from 90/10 front/rear to 65/35 front rear for better stopping power, also brand new).
-Hotchkis lowering springs (lowered car 1").
-Bilstein sport shocks
-Boxed upper and lower rear control arms (Lower rears are extended 3/4" to center the wheels in the wheel well).
-1 7/8" upgraded front and rear sway bars.
-Hotchkis engine bay brace (extremely rare and still new in the box).
Miscellaneous:
-LED Chevrolet Bowtie grill emblem (Extremely rare and brand new and worth almost $200 alone!).
-Impala SS emblems from 60's era cars (Rare and brand new in box).
-20" Chrome staggered rims and tires (20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear) with Nitto Invo tires (255/35/20 and 295/35/20. Tires alone were almost $1300).
-Various other parts and upgrades that I cannot remember right now.
Interior:
100% Stock and easily a 12 on a scale of 10. The ONLY issues with the interior are two worn radio buttons, and a worn cruise control stalk button.
Paint:
Paint is about a 7/8 out of 10. There are a few blemishes that arent noticeble, but there is absolutely no rust anywhere on this car. It has been a Central Alabama car about 90% of its life and the rest of the time it has been in the Georgia area. Overall, the body on this car is about a 7 out of 10 (I only say seven because its got some minor issues mentioned below).
As you can see, I was very passionate about this car and wanted everything to be done correctly with the best available components. Unfortuntely I just dont have the time anymore to finish what will be an AMAZING vehicle once completed.
Now on to the bad. There is about $1000 worth of vadalism that was done to the car back in 2010. Some teenagers got into the car and cut all the seatbelts, ripped out the lid to the center console, stole the pull handles from the driver and passenger door, broke the rear view mirror, stole some knobs from the dash, cut some wires under the hood (part of the headlight harness and the main wiring harness but I have the replacements to either splice into the original or replace completely). Also, they ripped off the flying deer emblems from the sides and stole one of the Impala SS 1/4 panel stickers. THE BODY OF THE CAR AND THE MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE INTERIOR WERE NOT DAMAGED. Like I mentioned earlier, this components can be had for less than a $1000 (actually less than that but im giving a worse case scenario). Also, the original motor is still in the car but needs a rebuild. I wanted to do a 383 stroker and actually built all the components on the car to support a 383, however if you read the article above, you can see that just a mild 377 build with the heads/cam above will yield about 450 HP to the wheels (over 500 hp at the crank). Or the engine can be replaced with a good used motor for about $1500.
Overall, this car would easily fetch $17-20K if it were in perfect condition. I can assure you that this car will not require much to get it to 100%. As you can see above, the money spent on parts alone for this car are over $10k. The Body alone is worth easily $7-8k. I have extensive picture documentation of everything that was done to the car mentioned above and will be happy to send them to whomever is interested. I will also answer all questions about this car including where it came from and what it has been since I purchased it 5 years ago. This would be great for someone who has a motor that is ready for a car or that is looking for a super clean and super rare 1996 Impala for not a lot of money. This car would easily put the newer $40k muscle cars to shame (Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, Chargers, etc) for about half the cost and the value of these cars just keeps going higher and higher. Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have. Good luck and happy bidding.

Best 3rd Row SUVs of 2024
Wed, Oct 19 2022If you plan on using a vehicle's third row a lot, let us at least make the suggestion that a minivan would be a smarter bet than anything you're going to see on this list of best three-row SUVs. Their third rows are bigger, more comfortable and easier to get to. The kids will definitely be happier. Here are our two top choices. OK, now that that's out of the way, we totally get why minivans are totally depressing and that if the kids want to be happier, they can buy their own darn vehicle. You're buying, you're driving, you're being seen in it and you'd rather have a three-row SUV. Fair enough. Luckily, there are more choices than ever and they're really good. The best do a particularly good job of being family friendly without looking like a drab transportation appliance, although really, you can't go wrong with any of the mainstream three-row SUVs. Now, some of the luxury choices are a bit suspect, including those that are otherwise very appealing but have cramped third-row seats (the Genesis GV80 comes to mind). We're focusing on three-row SUVs here, so having a usable third row is a must.  In this list, we have broken things down into four sub-categories: Best Three-Row Crossover |  Best Full-size Three-Row SUV Best Luxury Three-Row SUV |  Best Flagship Luxury Three-Row SUV Note that we define crossovers as SUVs since most buyers use the terms interchangeably, but acknowledge that "crossover" is literally a vehicle with a car-like unibody structure as opposed to the truck-like, body-on-frame construction that traditionally has defined "SUV." In other words, we consider all crossovers SUVs, but not all SUVs are crossovers (specifically those in the full-size segment and some in the flagship luxury segment). Best Three-Row Crossover SUVs of 2024 2024 Honda Pilot Why it stands out: Exceptional storage and cargo space; unique second-row functionality; refined ride; versatile and capable TrailSport; advanced AWDCould be better: Subpar acceleration with lackadaisical transmission and engine response; so-so driver assistance tech Read our full 2024 Honda Pilot Review The Honda Pilot was completely redesigned for 2023. It maintains its predecessor's family friendly packaging and overall focus, but it has injected a welcome sense of style (especially in the TrailSport pictured above) that makes it stand out much better from the big crossover crowd.
First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild
Tue, 12 Feb 2013This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.
