1969 Chevrolet Impala 427 Ss 1 Of 2,455 Produced on 2040-cars
Evans, Georgia, United States
For your consideration is my '69 Impala 427 SS Custom Coupe. This car was sold to the Volo Auto Museum by the family of the original owner in 2001. It was restored in the late 90's to its original glory. The original motor was blown sometime in the mid-late '70's and was dealer replaced. The 400 TH transmission and 12 bolt posi rear end are original to the car. Other than the car's short stint in Volo, IL, the car has been a southern car its entire life. It went from Alabama to Volo, IL to Vidalia, Georgia, finally ending up in Augusta, Georgia in my garage. I purchased it from the folks who got the car from Volo. This car is an overall nice driver. The paint is nice with a few touch ups. This is a nice, straight car, not a thrown together bondo bucket. It was refinished in its original Garnet Red with parchment formal vinyl top. There is no rust on this car anywhere. The top is nice, with no bubbling or soft spots. The stainless is nice. The bumpers are decent driver quality and have a good shine. The 15" Rallyes are wrapped in newer Goodyears. The glass and interior are nice. The seats and door panels were replaced in the late '90's and still look great. The car runs and drives great. It shifts through the gears very nicely. The power disc brakes definitely do their job. The car stops straight and true, with no pulling right or left. There are no fluid leaks. The air conditioner blows great, but needs a recharge. It has not been converted. Everything works on the car except for the clock. The car was ordered with the factory AM/FM radio that still sits in the bezel and it works great. Have you priced one of these? As I said, this is an overall nice driver. If you take it to nearly any show or cruise in, chances are better than not that you will be the only one there with a car like this, since there were only 2,455 built. The year 1969 was the last year for the Impala SS until 1994. All SS cars in '69 were 427 cars. My car is the real deal, not a tribute. Please call Andy at (706) 836-4410 with questions. I will be listing the car elsewhere, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Please...serious calls and bids only. Thanks for looking. As much as I'd love a '66 Impals 396 SS, I can't trade right now. Thanks On Jul-17-14 at 07:32:47 PDT, seller added the following information: For some reason when I clicked "enlarge picture when mouse goes over picture" (or whatever it says), it won't enlarge or zoom in. I tried to revise twice. The box "is clicked" but to no avail....If anyone would like a more detailed picture, shoot me an email, text or call me and I'll be glad to send whatever you'd like. The car looks much nicer in person, so please come and see and drive it if you are close. With only a few hours into the listing, I've already had a call inquiring about a "buy it now". My reserve is a little more than half of what others are asking for a true 69 SS car. Thanks On Jul-17-14 at 07:49:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I meant to also address a question that I got on the car regarding the "SS" logo and there not being an "Impala" script on the fenders like there is on another 69 SS that's offered on ebay. The other car is a "Sport Coupe" and mine is a "Custom Coupe". All Sport Coupes recieved the SS and the Impala badging on the fenders, where as all Custom Coupes received the SS badging only on the fenders. A combination of Sport Coupes, Custom Coupes and Convertibles accounted for the 2,455 units. Check some of the Impala sites and blogs and you'll find this info there as well. On Jul-18-14 at 09:43:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Several folks have asked for a picture of the VIN and/or cowl tag. I had one picture left, so I posted the cowl tag. I have a picture of the vin on the driver's side of the transmission and of the vin on the dash. If anyone wants pictures of those, send an email address or number to text picture to. I can only have 24 pictures in this add. |

2015 Chevrolet Trax
Thu, Dec 4 2014After the obligatory product presentation for the 2015 Trax, I caught up with Steve Majoros, Chevrolet's director of marketing for crossovers and cars, and asked him to elaborate on which markets his planners believe will be the hot starters for this tiny CUV. Without much hesitation, Majoros began to click off traditional sales havens for Subaru, namely, New England and the snowy bits of the East Coast, Colorado and the Pacific Northwest. That news might not surprise you, but it did me. Perhaps it's something as basic as the Trax's tall-hatchback looks, or the emphasis Chevrolet put on the urban driving cycle during my test in San Diego. But before my chat with Majoros, I'd considered this a crossover pointed at the Millennial city mouse more than his bumpkin cousin. But a closer look had me re-examining the granola cred of Chevy's smallest crossover. Having spent my fair share of time in New England and around New Englanders, I started by mentally listing the Trax's Subaru-like traits: practicality, thrift, all-weather ability and, well, just a dash of ugliness. (I suppose a hatchback needn't always be ugly to sell in Maine, or Boulder or Portland... but a 'distinctive' face doesn't seem to hurt.) After a day of driving through sunny San Diego and its surroundings, I can say that Trax makes an interesting case for itself against the standard bearers of the L.L. Bean set, but I'm less sure of its argument for young urbanites. The Trax looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. Chevy's has downsized its own, rather conservative crossover styling to fit the proportions of the subcompact Trax; to my eyes, it looks a lot like an Equinox whose suit shrunk in the wash. That's fine for offering a cohesive look for the Chevy family of crossovers, but it seems out of step with the rest of the segment. If the Trax's current competitive set were the cast of a high school-based TV show, the Kia Soul would play the lovable nerd, the Nissan Juke perhaps the outsider musician and the Subaru XV Crosstrek the athletic outdoorsy kid. Chevy may see the Trax as the hipster chick wearing intentionally ironic mom jeans, but to me the styling is a little too on the nose; more like an actual grownup trying to hang with the kids. These mom jeans are genuine. Per my earlier point, that quasi-conservative look may be just fast enough for staid New Englanders, but I have a hard time seeing the bluff, big-Bowtied front end playing in Bushwick or Wicker Park.
First 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 Sells For One Million Dollars
Mon, Apr 14 2014NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick loves buying first-built Chevrolet models for charity. He paid $1 million to buy the first production 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible and $650,000 to get the first 2014 Chevy Camaro Z/28. Hendrick's latest purchase happened at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach where he got into a bidding war to pay $1 million to get the first 2015 Corvette Z06. The bidding came quick with the car reaching $100,000 within 3 seconds and hitting $500,000 in about 35 seconds. The money from the sale was donated to the Karmanos Cancer Institute. Which of these five plug-ins should win the 2017 Green Car of the Year?
Tue, Nov 8 2016It's going to be a competitive race for the 2017 Green Car Of The Year. With a minivan in the running for the first time in ages, the five finalists announced by Green Car Journal today include five very different plug-in vehicles. As Ron Cogan, the editor and publisher of Green Car Journal, said in a statement, "electrification is now considered by most automakers an essential technology for current and future high-efficiency models." Let's check out the list: Toyota Prius Prime, the updated plug-in version of the world's best-selling hybrid. Chevy Bolt, GM's all-new entry into the long-range EV game. Chrysler Pacifica, a family hauler with the ability to go 30 miles on electric power. Kia Optima. The nomination is for the full line-up, but really the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are the green stars here. BMW 330e iPerformance, one of the automaker's many new plug-in hybrids that bring battery power to models outside the i sub-brand. Green Car Journal will announce the winners at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17th, along with some, "other green transportation announcements," whatever that means. Last year, the winner was the 2016 Chevy Volt, the first model to snatch up two wins. Which do you think should win this year?
