Up for sale is a 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS. This is a 100% True VIN #166375 Verified V-8 Impala. Not a Clone. Hate to sell this car but unfortunately as of the end of last month I no longer have the space to store it.

I have owned this car myself for the past 5 years. It was previously owned by a good friend of mine who owned it for 16 years. I know for a fact that this car has been garaged for at least over the past 20 years.

This Impala SS is rare & was built at the Doraville, Georgia Plant (VIN #D). I've been told that it is an optioned "Luxury Super Sport which means it was "Special Ordered" with with Wood Grain trim (A $200 option on the SS) however I am not sure on how I can confirm that. It does have Power Steering & Power Brakes, as well.

The car is painted Flat Black. This is not the cheap primer imitation look commonly seen on some Rat Rods & Classics. It is an actual Flat Black finish on it. Very durable. No rust on the body whatsoever.

Please note that these are seat covers that are on the front bucket seats and rear bench of the car. They were installed by my friends over at S&G's Upholstery about 3 years ago. I really like the way they go with the interior. The "Cowl Tag Decoder" shows that this car was equipped with the Black Vinyl SS Interior.

This Car originally came with a 327 SBC & then was swapped out for a SBC 350 for more Torque & Horsepower. Only Synthetic oil used in every oil change on this car. Engine does not smoke, knock or ping. Original Harrison Radiator with Shroud, Radiator does not leak. Newer Battery, Alternator & Master Cylinder,  she runs really strong & starts right up. Exhaust sounds really, really nice. I am thinking of adding a YouTube video of the car over the weekend.

Transmission is a HydraMatic TH350-C. This version of the TH350 is also heavily sought after. It very hard to find because of its short production run. It is stamped with the Authentic "MX2".

Car also has rear air adjustable Hijacker shocks for if you wish to lower it, just take the air out until you reach the desired height.

Car has 14x7 Cragar wheels with BF Goodrich Tires. Cd player will not be included in auction, car will however come with the Stock side skirts (Also finished in Flat Black).

Only suggestions I would have for this car is to get an high performance intake manifold and a 4bbl Carburetor. I did not do this due to emissions restrictions out here and the car passes just fine as it is now. I didn't want to risk tweaking anything.

What you see is what you get, the car is being sold as is. It is also being sold locally so please note, I have the right to end bidding at any time if the car is sold here in town.

THE WINNING BIDDER IS REQUIRED TO SEND A DEPOSIT OF $500 IMMEDIATELY AT THE CLOSE OF BIDDING (NO EXCEPTIONS). BIDDERS WITH A ZERO TO 3 FEEDBACK SCORE ARE REQUIRED TO CONTACT ME FIRST BEFORE BIDDING (NO EXCEPTIONS). FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THESE TERMS WILL RESULT IN YOUR BIDS BEING CANCELLED AND EBAY BEING CONTACTED.

See my Feedback. it is 100% so bid with confidence. Serious Inquiries only, please.

You will not find another Impala as clean as this one for this low of a reserve.

BEST WISHES AND HAPPY BIDDING!

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.

GM finds steering flaw, decides it doesn't warrant a recall

Tue, Apr 14 2015

Guess what? General Motors is back in the spotlight for not recalling something. This time, though, not only does the company have an argument against a recall campaign, but its position is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to The New York Times, over 50 owners of GM vehicles have reported instances of stuck or seized steering after driving long distances without moving the wheel. One owner complained to NHTSA that the "locked" steering of their 2013 Buick Verano caused a collision with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Along with the 2013 to 2014 model year Verano sedans, Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu sedans are also affected. Considering the popularity of those models, GM needs to have a reason for not issuing a recall, right? "Based on a very low rate of occurrence – ranging from less than one half to less than two incidents per thousand vehicles – and the fact that the condition is remedied when the wheel is turned, GM determined this was not a safety issue," spokesman Alan Adler told The Times. The company has, however, issued a technical service bulletin for owners that complain of the problem. The fix is nothing more than a software update that is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles from new. NHTSA cited GM's actions, along with descriptions of the problems from customers, in its decision not to issue a recall, with spokeswoman Catherine Howden saying, "the symptoms described would be a brief, perceptible change in steering feel that has little to no effect on the driver's ability to safely steer the vehicle." "When terms like 'notchy,' 'stick,' 'slip' or 'feel' are used, it does not indicate a meaningful increase in steering effort," Howden told The Times via email. What do you think? Is GM in the wrong here? Should there be a recall, or is the issue so limited as to not warrant one? Have your say in Comments.
