1965 Chevy Impala SS Convertible

My name is Kurt Bonner and thanks for giving the auction of my 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS your consideration.  I have, over the past several years offered just a few nice classics here on eBay for sale.  I have done so with great success.  For one, I have sold every single one while listed, either via auction or at my hometown dealership in Whitehall Michigan, during its auction process.  Secondly and most importantly, I have received a consistent 100% satisfaction score from my customers here on eBay, as is evident by my feedback score of 100%.  If nothing else, that lets you know my description tells it like it is.   This in and of itself, can be of utmost importance when purchasing anything, but more so when considering the purchase of a classic vehicle such as this Impala SS Convertible.  If after completing the description, you have questions, please feel free to contact me directly at a reasonable hour at 231 578-2887.  I will be happy to answer your questions.

As I mention above, I do own a small hometown style dealership in Whitehall Michigan.  The car was acquired from a terrifically hospitable husband and wife locally.  They owned the car for more than 25 years.  They simply didn’t drive it much.  Less than 150 miles in the last 10 years.  A number verified  by receipts I have.  The title I hold is actually dated May 1989, when the lien was paid and the new title was issued.    The car is, as stated, a 1965 Impala SS convertible.   That is a 283 V8 with an Automatic transmission.   The mileage is also stated to me as actual at 68787 has been verified by the plethora of receipts if have for the car.

As you might expect, around 1990 the car was restored.  It really was given a face lift that continued as it was driven over the next 4 or so years.  It was repainted in it’s original color, and received new trim, chrome and rubber as needed.  Four years following that the facelift, the Impala received a new NOS interior.  All of the aforementioned items remain on the car now and it still remains in beautiful condition.  The body and underside of the car are in great condition.   There is one chip in the paint on the top of the rear quarter panel.  For 25 years old paint, the car looks terrific.   I have left the car alone and remains in the condition I received the car in.   I have the car stored in my showroom and gets daily comments from local customers.  Mechanically, the car needed a new battery when I received it so one was installed.   All of the maintenance like oil changes, brakes, wheel cylinders, ect…, have been performed with receipts showing the dates for those items.  The tires were new in 2005 and have less than 150 miles on them since.   They are like new condition.  Upon purchasing, the car was driven 30 miles, with the top down to my dealerships showroom.  The car drives great.  Bid knowing you can drive it to your next cruise night without hesitation.

Just a few more details.  The convertible top was also replaced in the recent past (with glass rear window) and is controlled with the power button on the dash.  This operates just as it should both up and down.   It comes with a parade boot.  Boot looks good buy shows its age.  All the gauges appear to work as well as the factory in dash vacuum gauge.  Interior and exterior lights all work.  The SS retains the original 283 engine, air cleaner, exhaust manifolds, distributor, wiper washer bottle, owner’s manual, and brochures ect…that came with the car new.  Everything I have received, including the custom car cover, you will receive with your winning bid.  I encourage you to ask questions before the end of the auction.

I believe it goes without saying, but I better say, the Impala is a 1965.  With that, it is going to have it’s 50th birthday coming up very soon.  Therefore, the sale of this great car is as is.  I can’t offer you a warranty, but will tell you my description is right on.  Questions will be answered accurately and honestly.  If you bid based on that alone, you will not be dissatisfied with your ultimate purchase of this very fine 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible.    I do have contacts that in some cases can assist in the transportation of this Impala to you however, you, the buyers will ultimately responsible for the shipping cost and arrangements.  I am fair and easy to deal with.   Please have your finances in order and be prepared to submit a $1000.00 deposit, via paypal upon winning the auction with the balance to be paid in full no later than 7 days following the auction conclusion.  Payments preferred are cash in person or bank wire transfer.

Just a note.  I have this SS for sale locally at my dealership, so it is possible it may sell before the end of this auction.  I will accept offers here at our brick and mortar dealership.  If it sold early, I reserve the right to end the auction before in is completed.  Your offers will also be considered.  Many of these cars sell quickly I have found in completed auctions prior to this one.

Enjoy the auction and Good luck to you.

Kurt

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, hence  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950s and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with the American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.

Surprise! GM putting aluminum in next-gen pickups

Wed, Aug 5 2015

Last month, General Motors launched a series of ads touting the benefits of steel over aluminum – specifically, with regard to the Chevy Silverado versus the Ford F-150. (Kind of. We're not sure what a grizzly bear has to do with anything.) We took issue with the ads, with editor in chief Mike Austin saying they "reek of insecurity, and distract from the Silverado's strengths that could be used for positive advertising." But what bothers us more, is that yet another report surfaced claiming anti-aluminum GM will indeed use the weight-saving material in its next-generation fullsize trucks. On Tuesday, GM announced a $877-million investment for its truck plant in Flint, MI. But Reuters says that huge overhaul is because the trucks will use "substantially different equipment than the tools GM uses today." The report specifically states, "People familiar with the company's plans say GM's next-generation pickups and SUVs will make use of various materials, including aluminum and lightweight steel, to shed weight and gain fuel efficiency to meet tougher federal standards." The Silverado already uses a few aluminum components in the engine and hood, and if more widespread use will help GM build its best fullsize trucks ever, then that's great. Honestly, we have no reason to doubt that aluminum will be used in the next Silverado and GMC Sierra. We just hope GM remembers that nothing is ever truly deleted from the bowels of the Internet when it launches the subsequent "look how great aluminum is!" campaign. Chevy Bolt, GM's 200-mile EV, could debut in Detroit

Sat, Jan 10 2015

It's not news that General Motors is working on a $30,000 electric vehicle with a 200-mile range. Then-CEO Dan Akerson said as much back in 2013. What we've heard before is that this mystery EV will be based on the Chevrolet Sonic and will will arrive in 2017. So, if that's all correct, then it would make sense that confirmation of this plan would come at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, which is just around the corner. And lookee here... The Wall Street Journal is reporting that GM will unveil a concept Chevy Bolt at the Detroit show on Monday. That name sure makes sense, too, since GM registered that trademark back in August. According to the Journal, the rumored numbers – 200-mile range, $30,000 price – are still what's expected. Some new purported details are that the battery will come from LG Chem, which also makes the Volt's batteries, and that the Bolt will be a crossover that could be sold around the world. This all smacks of a preemptive strike against the Tesla Model 3, which is also due around 2017. Currently, GM sells the Spark EV in limited areas of the US, despite a lot of excitement for wider availability. To sell a 200-mile EV for $30,000 means that GM and LG Chem will likely have drastically reduced the cost of making a big plug-in vehicle battery. What this means for the new Volt and GM's future plans is something we're more than a little excited about to learn more of on Monday, the same day that we get to see the redesigned Chevy Volt for the first time. Well, aside from the CES teaser. Green Chevrolet Crossover Electric 2015 Detroit Auto Show Chevy Bolt bolt
