It breaks my heart to list my baby for sale - over 6yrs and $90K cash poured into this Impala.  I find it hard to know where to start the list of upgrades and inevitably I am going to forget something...  Here goes:

Full repaint Yellow over White LEATHER w/matching Yellow piping (not Vinyl boys and girls, tucked and rolled leather seats and panels) with matching new white top and new white carpet.  Completely wrapped frame; welded, ground and painted.  All new suspension components including, but not limited to, AirRide Technologies bags and compressors.  Custom suspension reworked, installed and calibrated by Ground Pounders Customs of Mentor OH - absolutely no expense spared.  20" Custom off-set, Intro Polished/Matte Aluminum Wheels w/Nitto Tires (less than 200 miles).  Completely overhauled 327; bored/stroked - professionally built and tested by Ken Matthews of Hutter Racing Engines, Chardon OH.  ALL new components, again nothing spared.  Built Turbo 350 Automatic Transmission w/4:10 Rear End.  Custom, dual yoke drive shaft.  Full Length, polished headers and complete polished custom exhaust.  Full March billet serpentine drive system complete with A/C (not hooked up).  Too much chrome and polished under-hood to detail...  Be Cool Polished radiator / overflow.  New updated steering rack w/ease power steering.  Total over the top, audio system installed by Auto Sound and Security and Brian Morris, Willoughby OH.  Custom gelcoat fiberglass trunk enclosure, floating amp rack (all new JL Audio Amps, Subs, Components, etc).  LED Lighting thru-out the trunk, engine bay an interior.  Custom CNC machined, billet component kick panels with floating billet tweeter pod - wrapped in white.  Custom gelcoat A-Pillar tweeter pod, hidden JL Audio custom stealth enclosure IN the rear seat (yes, actually in the rear seat cavity itself - installed to increase low frequency while driving).  Alpine Head Unit with dedicated iPod interface.  Custom Dakota Digital Gauge Cluster with Matching Dakota Digital PSI display for air suspension settings.  Custom Plexi/Billet floating battery tray w/matching Billet cover for the Optima Yellow Top.  All Top of the line interconnects and hard connections where used - no expense spared.

This car was originally built as a four speed and has since been converted to an auto - I have the clutch pedal assembly which will be included.  In addition, this car was also equipped with Factory A/C and Cruise Control (very rare).  I have the majority of the cruise components along with the original rear skirts (also all included, but not installed).

This car has real presence.  It looks AMAZING and drives like a dream!  The air ride is fast.  For a huge beast, this baby moves.  The engine purrs smooth and the exhaust note is SICK.  When emptied out totally, this car literally is 1" off the ground (just touched the flanges on the headers!)  6 switches; Front/Back and Four Corners.  It draws MAJOR attention wherever it goes.  I have been approached by video producers, athlete agents, exotic auto brokers and the like.  I have never had the car listed for sale, it has never been in a video or shown at a car show - I am far too picky and protective to have ANYONE else touch it.  Frankly, I don't like people even looking at it.  It resides in my garage, under a cover 365 days a year.

Alas, I feel it is time for someone else to enjoy the fruits of my labor.  As I recently mentioned to a friend when he asked if I was going to take the car to Good Guys, "this car deserves to be with someone who will love it, drive it and show it - not keep it covered in the garage and hope no one looks at it".  That is the reason for listing it - I don't need to sell it for another car project nor am I interested in some fire sale or anyone contacting me help me sell it (I've got that covered).  Contact me if you are serious about a perfect, turn-key, american pop-culture icon like this one.  There is only one 64 Impala SS Drop Top.  No solicitors, dead beat 0 Feedback bidders or tire kickers - email is best - audiporscheman@yahoo.com or text 440.479.0019

I can arrange GLOBAL SHIPPING - but will spend no time on specifics until after the car is paid for (I have a good idea based on research for costs associated to the different areas of the globe).  Wire Transfer, Cash or Cashiers Check ONLY - No, you can't finance it and I probably am not interested in your trade so please don't ask.  I hold Clean OH title (TMU).

I must give props to my boy, Phil of Phil Snyder Photography for snapping the pics of the 6 this past fall - if you need more pictures please drop me a line, I'll be happy to help.

8 cars we're most looking forward to driving in 2015

Mon, Jan 5 2015

Now that 2014 is officially in the books, it's time to look ahead. And following our list of the cars we liked best last year, we're now setting our sights at the hot new metal that's coming our way in 2015. Some of these, we've already seen. And some are still set to debut during the 2015 auto show season. But these are the machines that keep us going – the things on the horizon that we're particularly stoked to drive, and drive hard. Jeep Renegade Not the Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Not the Ford Mustang GT350. Not the new John Cooper Works Mini. Nope, I'm looking forward to the adorable, trail-rated Jeep Renegade. And that's because I really, really, really like our long-term Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I do not, however, care too much for the Cherokee's looks, and I really don't like its $38,059 price tag. The Renegade Trailhawk, meanwhile, promises much of the same rough-and-tumble character as its big brother, but at what we expect will be a more reasonable price (I'm personally wagering on the baby Jeep's off-road model starting at no more than $23,000). With a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a nine-speed automatic, it should also be a bit easier to fill than the V6-powered Cherokee. Also, I can't help but love the way the Renegade looks. It's like someone took a Wrangler, squished it by 50 percent and then handed it off to George Clinton for a healthy dose of funk. The interior, with its bright, expressive trims and color schemes should also be a really nice place to spend some time. I'll be attending the Renegade's launch later this month, so I'll have a much shorter wait than my colleagues. Here's hoping the baby Jeep lives up to my expectations. – Brandon Turkus Associate Editor Mazda MX-5 Miata Here's an uncomfortable truth: I'd rather spend a day driving a properly sorted Mazda MX-5 Miata of any generation on a winding road than I would nearly any other vehicle, regardless of power, price or prestige. It's not just that I prize top-down driving and enjoy the Miata's small size because it gives me more road to play with. I just find there's more motoring joy to be had with high-fidelity handling and an uncorrupted car-to-driver communication loop than I do with face-distorting power or grip – let alone valet-stand gravitas. But perhaps most of all, I love Miatas because they can deliver that level of feedback and driver reward at modest speeds that won't put the locals on edge or endanger lives – you can use more of the car more of the time.

GM recalling 1.4 million older vehicles for oil leak fire risk

Tue, Oct 27 2015

General Motors is recalling 1,411,332 older vehicles with its 3.8-liter V6 yet again due to a fire risk. Specifically, there are 1,283,340 of them in the US, and the affected models are the: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 1997- 2004 Buick Regal The fault with these vehicles is that oil can drip onto the hot exhaust manifold during hard braking, which can potentially cause of fire. In the last six years, there have 19 reported minor injuries from this problem but no crashes or fatalities, according to the company. Spokesperson Alan Adler also told Autoblog: "GM has reports of 1,345 fires in vehicles that were repaired under two previous recalls for this issue." At this time, GM is still developing a remedy for the problem. According to Adler, the company advised owners to park these vehicles outside for the previous recalls. "The cars can be safely driven. In cases where a customer reported an engine fire while driving, smoke was reported, which would be an indication of a malfunction," he said. This is GM's fourth recall for this problem since 2008, according to The Detroit News. At one point it was believed that aging valve cover gaskets allowed the oil to leak out and drip onto the manifold. A campaign in 2009 covered nearly 1.5 million of these models through the 2003 model year for the same issue. At the time, dealers installed new spark plug wire retainers as a fix. Related Video: GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 1,283,340 older sedans and coupes in the U.S. from the 1997 to 2004 model years because drops of oil may be deposited on the hot exhaust manifold through hard braking, which can cause engine compartment fires. GM is working on a remedy. The company is aware of post-repair fires in some vehicles but no crashes or fatalities. There have been 19 reported minor injuries over the last six years. These vehicles with 3.8-liter V6 3800 engines are affected: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 1997-2004 Buick Regal. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population is 1,411,332.

What we know, and think we know, about the 2016 Chevy Volt

Wed, Aug 13 2014

With the next-gen Chevy Volt due to make an appearance at the Detroit Auto Show early next year, bits and pieces about the new car are making their way into the press. Perhaps most importantly, the new Volt is going to have better "fuel economy and efficiency," according to GM executive vice president Mark Reuss. The current Volt gets 98 MPGe and 37 miles per gallon on premium fuel. It also has a 38-mile electric-only range. We don't know how GM will improve the efficiency or to what degree, but the logical options include making the car lighter, giving it better aerodynamics and/or improving the powertrain. To that end, one of the big things we don't know for sure includes information on the new gas-powered engine. Forbes says it will be a downsized 1.0-liter, three-cylinder mill instead of the 1.4-liter, four-cylinder used in the current model, which could certainly help the car be more efficient. The new Volt is also going to have more technology, which shouldn't surprise anyone. GM is now openly talking about how it will change the way it markets the Volt, shifting away from the mass-market mentality to focus on the regions where the car is already popular. "There's a Northeast and West Coast market for Volt, and there's nothing wrong with that," Chevy chief marketing officer Tim Mahoney told Forbes. There are rumors that the new Volt will have seating for five by adding a seat in the back. This is something a lot of current Volt owners would love, but we've heard nothing official hinting that this would be the case. We expect the battery to be the new 17.1-kWh version, or maybe even have a capacity increase, so GM would have to seriously repackage the pack to eliminate the ridge that runs from between the front seats and then back to the rear two seats. If you've heard anything official, do let us know.
