1962 Chev Impala Original Real Ss Black 875 Red Bucket Seat Car Matching Numbers on 2040-cars
Lubbock, Texas, United States
This 1962 Impala SS was built as a Factory Tuxedo Black exterior car with (875) Red Vinyl SS Bucket Seat interior. Making this car not only an amazing color combination but also collectible with as a real SS built car. The 1962 model year has always been referred to as sleek and stylish with its new "C" pillar styling. The Sport Coupe models featured the "convertible roof" styling, shared with other GM "B" full size hardtop coupes. This style proved extremely popular, and contributed to the desirability of the '62–'64 Impalas as collectibles. This '62 Impala features premium interior appointments, plusher seats, and more chrome trim outside, including a full-width aluminum-and-chrome panel to house the triple-unit taillight assembly. This 1962 Super Sport (SS), features a panel in a special engine-turned aluminum, which was also used to fill the side moldings, making the SS more distinctive in appearance. Unlike later years of SS’s, they cannot be decoded by their vin number but rather by their cowl tag. This is a real #875 trimmed car meaning she started life as a real “SS”. This is also a matching number Impala with an engine code of (TO414S) making it a 327 250hp and an even more desirable collector car. Many SS build cars were fitted with the smaller 289 engine. This Impala has won many regional awards. The only reason this SS is available now, is so that he can build his next collector car. This is the type of vehicle that your wife can hop in and drive. Easy to handle, starts right up and is a pleasure to cruise. Its 327 250hp engine has a nice rumble that you don't always hear with Impalas. All the gauges work and even has an aftermarket radio in the glove box. Drive in comfort with working Heat and Air Conditioning. Really is a pleasure to cruise and even has upgraded front disc brakes. This is an older restoration but we appreciate it as it sits. It is extremely straight....of the hundreds of Impalas we have seen, this one has to be one the straightest! And that is saying a lot when it comes to Impala quarters. This is a car you can cruise now and enjoy and as time allows you to do your own touches. We considered repainting it and redoing some interior pieces but the more you are around the car its nostalgic feel and it really is in amazing cndition. Take a look at the pictures and ask any questions you may have. I think you will be able to see what an honest car this Impala SS is.
We pride ourselves of actually describing our cars, so you can visualize what you can't always see in a photograph. Original Tuxedo Black car that has been repainted about 20 years ago with a quality paint job. Although, since it has been so long there is some checking on the roof some places where the paint has thinned and of course some rock chips. But, since it was a quality paint job it has a vintage feel unlike a ‘bad or cheap” paint job that has overspray and just looks terrible. There are two spots photographed that have small rust bubbles that have surfaced over the last 20 years. The underside of the car is in extremely solid and original condition without any rust repairs or problems. You will be impressed with her metal. Her bumpers are in great shape and so is all the trim and emblems. It does need its window felts replaced they have basically disintegrated from time. The window trim and side trim, grill and accents all look really good. The drivers wind-wing glass does have a crack in it. It has Red Vinyl SS Bucket Seat Interior that was redone some time ago. Drivers seat does have a few tears on the side bolster but the rest has held up amazingly well. The carpet shows just a little wear but shows fine. The dash, headliner, sill plates and back seat are all amazingly nice. Take a look at the pictures it really does look good. This Impala SS is powered by a strong running original 327 250hp V8 engine that really sounds amazing. Unlike many Impalas that have a quite mellow sound this Impala has a nice rumble that will impress as you cruise her down the highway. An extremely nice feature is that she can sit for weeks and will still start right up with out the need of a trickle charger or a jump start. Shifted by a power-glide that makes her drive extremely easy and reliable that even the fussiest of drivers wont have trouble behind the wheel. I wouldn't be afraid to drive this car anywhere!! She does't get hot and again, this is a easy to drive and no-nonsense classic cruiser ...harder to find then you would initially think.
Adding to the appeal of this Impala are the Authentic Vintage American Racing Wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s. A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes
Wed, Feb 19 2014There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.
Nissan Leaf has 2nd-best sales month ever, Chevy Volt does a 2013 repeat [UPDATE]
Tue, Apr 1 2014UPDATE: The official press release says that "Volt [sales were] up 7 percent," but Randy Fox let AutoblogGreen know that this is simply due to a change in the fleet/retail mix between March 2013 and 2014. The actual number sold was exactly the same in the two months. A month ago, Nissan's director of EV sales and marketing, Toby Perry, said he expected to see the Leaf's sales momentum continue into March. It wasn't a big leap, since January and February were slow sales months in 2013 (around 640 each) before a big climb to 2,200 in March. In 2014, the first two months of the year were better (around 1,300 each) but Nissan can still be happy that the Leaf just had the best March ever and its second-highest sales month ever, with 2,507 sold. That's a 12.1 percent increase from 2013 and Perry said in a statement to AutoblogGreen that one reason is all of the buyers who are becoming evangelists for the vehicle. "We've also seen an increase in showroom traffic as we enhanced our marketing presence in March," he said. Nissan pointed to cities like Washington, DC, Raleigh-Durham, NC and urban areas in Texas as strong Leaf markets last month. On the Chevy Volt front, January and February were also slow months in 2014, down roughly half from the 2,000-ish the plug-in hybrid was selling at the end of 2013. For 2014, sales were up slightly from the first two months of the year and Chevy spokesman Randy Fox told AutoblogGreen that the March number was "pretty flat, year-over-year." Even with that warning, we were surprised to see the total come in at 1,478. Why's that? Because the total for March 2013 was ... 1,478. So, yeah, that's pretty steady even if there were 26 selling days in March period this year compared to 27 last year. As always, our more complete report of last month's green car sales will be coming soon. News Source: General Motors, Nissan Green Chevrolet GM Nissan Electric Hybrid PHEV ev sales
GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars
Wed, Dec 17 2014Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.
