1959 Chevrolet Impala 2 Door Dr Hardtop Project Car Clear Title Extras on 2040-cars

Offering a few of my projects from 30 years of building 59's in the next several weeks due to a possible move this fall. Have brother-in-law who is OTR owner/operator with access to 10 car hauling trailer, so I can take it if nessessary. It will only be listed once on ebay, then go to auction with estate sale via Vanderbrinks/proxibid or similar. This project is very similar to the one sold at Lambrects for 9k, but really a more solid car overall at a much lower price. This is a 59 Impala 2 door htp. It was side swiped on the drivers side in the early 70's and has been in storage since. Original white 936A car with turquoise interior. Was a 6cyl/3 speed car, but has no motor or trans in it now. The interior is all there with the exception of the front door panels. There is a replacement door and upper quarter half(with door jamb and inner panel) that comes with it. It will still need lower qtr sections on drivers side. I also have gather a complete set of drivers side trim that is nice and restorable. These pieces all come with the car, but like I said, you will need to purchase left lower qtrs. The floors and trunk floor will need replaced, as they all do, as you can see in the pics. You may also need to do some work to the left wheel tub, although it doesn't look too bad and did not even get into the window post, or it probably would have broken the rear glass. This is definitely a savable car as hard as these are to find and the prices they bring. Not for the faint at heart, but very much repairable. What you see in the pics is what you get, and as I said, I am including a full left side set of trim. The frame looks to be solid in all of the common tor areas. It may need some minor repair in the very rear corners to the gussets. The car rolls and steers easy and tires hold air for easy loading. I also have a tractor to assist. Overseas bidders are welcome, however a tractor/trailer cannot get in my private road, so in the past I have loaded the car on my trailer and met the transport at an agreed on local site at 65109. I have no problem doing this for you , as I have done for several over the years. The car is sold as-is where-is and will not leave the property until all funds have cleared my bank account. Immediate deposit required with buy now options, otherwise full payment expected in 7 days with 1000.00 deposit at end of auction. Buyer is responsible for all shipping cost and arrangements(allow for extra qtr panel unless you want me to cut the lower rusty section off and stick it through the rear seat opening). The car can set here for up to 30 days after auction ends. Will try to ad pics of trunk and trim by tomorrow. Thanks for looking! Watch for others to be listed soon 60 2 dr htp, another 59 2dr htp, 59 Kingswood wagon 9 passenger, and possible 1 one of my convs. These ads are all also going up on local CL and ad sheets, so I do reserve the right to end auctions at any time should I receive a reasonable comittment from a local buyer. However, if you have placed a winning bid or have met the reserve(if this applies to the car you want), then the car is yours and the auction will run its coarse. |

Car Club USA: Corvette Homecoming
Tue, Mar 17 2015Car Club USA travels to Bowling Green, KY to document the annual Corvette Homecoming, where owners travel from around the country to reconnect with the manufacturing birthplace of their vehicles. We follow two contestants in the "Show and Shine" competition, for whom the human connection at the event is just as important as showing off their wheels. "That's probably the biggest thing about this weekend," says one attendee, "there's a connection with Corvette people." Of course, the grandeur seeing stunners like a 1959 Corvette convertible, 1966 Big Block and 2002 Z06 is worth the price of admission. Get a firsthand look at the Homecoming experience, and the folks that make it so special. Each Car Club USA episode features a different car club or event from across the US, where passionate owner communities gather to share automotive experiences and embark on incredible adventures. From Main Street cruises to off-road trails, catch all the latest car club activity on Autoblog. Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf go nearly the same all-electric miles a year
Sun, Nov 1 2015Range anxiety? What range anxiety? The concept is a foreign one to those driving Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-ins, and as a result, that vehicle's all-electric driving miles are actually pretty close to that of the all-electric Nissan Leaf. Such were the findings of a study conducted by the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), which tracked about 8,700 cars during a three-year period, including a bunch of Volts, Leafs and Smart ED electric vehicles. In short, even though the Volt's all-electric range of about 38 miles is less than half that of the Leaf's, the Volts' collective all-electric driving was just six percent lower than the Leaf's (the next-generation Volt will be even more electro-generous, with a 50-mile range). The logic makes sense considering typical US driving habits, in which a vast majority of people commute less than 35 miles a day. Additionally, Volt drivers obviously have no fear of running out of electricity, so they were far more likely to max out on that range than some Leaf drivers. Overall, the average Leaf is driven about 15 percent less than the national average of about 11,300 miles a year for all vehicles, while Volts are driven about eight percent more. Of all those Volt miles, about 81 percent were in all-electric mode. Additionally, Volt drivers recharged about 1.5 times a day, while Leaf drivers recharged about once a day, and about 85 percent of that charging was at home. As for non-home charging, about 20 percent of the vehicles accounted for 75 percent of the station use, so folks are definitely creatures of habit. Check out the INL's 22-page report here for more interesting details. Chevy Bolt EV's battery shows big improvements over Spark's
Mon, Jan 11 2016Plug-in vehicle battery technology moves fast, and all you need to do to see this in action is to take a look at the new 60-kWh lithium-ion pack inside the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV. Well, you need to do that and then compare it to the battery packs inside of GM's other plug-in vehicles. And you don't even to go as far back as the EV1 to see progress. Let's start with what we know about the new Bolt's pack. It is supposed to drive the Bolt EV over 200 miles on a full charge. It weighs 960 pounds and is made up of 288 cells. Chevy's other all-electric car, the limited-availability Spark EV, had a 19-kWh pack and offered 82 miles of range. It had 192 cells and weighed 474 pounds. So, in the few years since the Spark EV was released, GM engineers have figured out how to get three times the energy capacity and almost two-and-a-half times more range out of a pack that weighs only about twice as much. And that doesn't even get to the price drops. GM has figured out how to get 3x the energy capacity and almost 2.5 times more range out of a pack that weighs only twice as much. Speaking of those 288 cells, that number might sound familiar to regular readers because that's exactly how many are in the new Chevy Volt. But the packs in the Volt and the Bolt are entirely different beasts. For one thing, while the Volt cells are made by LG Chem in Holland, MI, LG Chem will make the Bolt's cells in South Korea. The cell chemistries are also different. We spoke with GM engineer Tim Grewe (again) and while he declined to answer some of our Bolt battery pack questions until more details are unveiled at the SAE World Congress in April, he was able to explain a few things. "The cell inside the Chevy Bolt EV was specifically designed for EV range so it's up on energy," he said. "That's a different cell chemistry than on the extended range Chevy Volt, which is a smaller pack, smaller energy but more power per cell. We work with all of those vehicle requirements and customer demands and we say how do we meet this and we change the chemistry to make it all work." Comparing the 60 kWh in the Bolt and the 18.4-kWh pack in the Volt is really one of those apples to oranges issues, he said. "If you look at the Volt battery pack, how it went from where it was and where it's up to, from 38 miles to 50 miles, that was basic, overall industry improvement. Now, the 18 [kWh] to the 60 [kWh] is extended range vs. EV.
