The HHR has been in our family since new, our youngest son purchased it new and drove it until their second child came.  We traded them a larger vehicle for it and have used it for our Dinghy Tow Vehicle behind our motorhome.  Weighing only 3100# it is really a nice Toad!  We're getting a new vehicle to tow and are putting the HHR up for sale.  We also have it listed locally, so we reserve the right to cancel the listing at anytime.

We average 27+ MPG on the highway, and 24+ MPG with a mix of highway and city driving.  It runs perfect, AC is cold, it has always had full synthetic oil with changes every 3000 mi.  We put a carpet in the back and attached it with velcro strips as you can see in one of the pictures, this gave us a quiet place to carry different items and also kept them from sliding around.  No tear or wear on the seats, the back seat has been used very little and stays folded down most of the time.  The tires are excellent, we use Mastercraft Tires on all of our vehicles and these are 225/55/R16's, about a 1/2 inch taller than stock.

The HHR was designed for use as a tow vehicle we found out, and it's very simple to prep when the time comes.  We've towed it approximately 4000 miles and it's almost like it's not there, very easy to tow.  It has a Roadmaster Falcon base plate and we're using the Falcon 5250 tow bar rated at 5000#.  We will include the tow bar and all the fittings.  We also use a Brake Buddy Classic with the HHR, and it works great, takes about 15-20 minutes start to finish for the complete tow bar and brake system connections to be on the road.  I opted to use external lighting instead of diodes and modifying the HHR wiring, I fabricated two sheet metal brackets that are held in place by closing them in the bottom of the rear door and provide a metal surface just above the rear bumper for the magnetic base on the lights.  This also works well and is simple to set up.  If you would like additional pictures of the HHR or two equipment please let me know what you'd like to see and we'll send them asap.

If you do not wish to use the base plate, tow bar and Brake Buddy, let me know and we can negotiate a reduction in price before you submit a bid, if you say nothing before you bid and you win the auction there will be no changes available, thanks for your understanding.  There have been no modifications made to anything on the HHR to install any of the equipment, so there will be no evidence of it having been there when and if it's removed.

The HHR has been trouble free, runs like a top and has been well cared for.  If you don't have a tow vehicle, here's your chance to get a very nice unit in a complete, ready for the road package.

Please ask any questions prior to bidding, we buy and sell quite a bit on eBay and if you check out feedback you'll see we are very easy to deal with.  The HHR is sold as-is where-is, Buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup and/or transportation, we will make ourselves available for vehicle pickup if notified of the schedule 5 days prior to pickup date.  A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of close of auction, and the balance must be received no later than 5 business days after the close of the auction.  PayPal must be used for the deposit, a Cashier's Check must be used for the balance, vehicle can be picked up after the check has been verified and funds received.  We ask that you only bid if you can complete the transaction, we will not wait for financial arrangements to be made after the auction, nor will we accept payments or trades, thanks for looking.

Recharge Wrap-up: Chevy Volt CarPlay video, Tesla Supercharger importance

Fri, Feb 5 2016

A video demonstrates Apple CarPlay on the touch display in the next-generation Chevrolet Volt. The Volt's eight-inch (bigger than an iPad Mini) capacitive display is capable of putting Siri and your iPhone apps and right at your fingertips. It's "the best CarPlay display I've seen," says the user in the video. In case you're not in the market for a new Volt, 9to5Mac offers some of its favorite aftermarket CarPlay screens. See the video above, and read more at 9to5Mac. A single Supercharger can make a big difference in the life of a Tesla owner. Teslarati's Electric Jen talks about purchasing a Model S, being assured by both Tesla employees and the map of planned Supercharger sites that one would be built along an important route for her. With the construction being pushed back, it made visiting family tricky. "As if owning such a grand car isn't embarrassing enough, asking for a ride to drop off and pick up said car because you can't make it home without charging really made me feel awkward," she says. "You see, one single charging location can mean the world to some people," Jen adds. Read the whole article at Teslarati. Tesla once had considered creating mobile range extender trailers for the Model S. Elon Musk touched upon the abandoned idea during his visit to Paris. While Tesla ultimately dismissed the concept, Nomadic Power has taken the opportunity to hitch their product onto the Tesla brand. "We are delighted, that Tesla Motors' CEO Elon Musk is thinking about a concept like ours for even more extending the range of the Tesla models," says Nomadic Power's CEO Manfred Baumgaertner. He adds, "This confirms our approach to build a long distance mobility provider for all electric vehicles on the market." If you say so, Baumgaertner. When the batteries have degraded to the point that they're no longer suitable for use on the road, they still have a significant capacity that can be used for other purposes. Still useful for stationary storage, they can be used to support charging sites in order to allow for faster charging. The stationary batteries can charge slowly at the site, but then offer up the juice in a hurry when it's needed for a vehicle. Read more from Renault.

Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Tundra flunk IIHS headlight test

Tue, Oct 25 2016

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put pickup truck headlights to the test and found that the majority of them were equipped with subpar units. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only truck to earn a rating of "good." The large pickup truck test was comprised of the: 2016 to 2017 GMC Sierra, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2016 Ram 1500, 2016 to 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2016 to 2017 Ford F-150, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Sierra's headlights earned a rating of "acceptable," the headlights found on the Titan and Ram 1500 were found to be "marginal," and the ones on the Silverado, F-150, and Tundra were rated as "poor." IIHS claims the F-150 was the most disappointing out of the large pickup trucks as both its halogen and optional LED headlights failed to provide adequate visibility during testing. The Ridgeline (which earned a "good rating"), is usually considered a midsize or small truck, though IIHS included it in the field of large pickups. The headlights on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Nissan Frontier, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which made up the small pickup truck group, all earned a rating of "poor." The IIHS claimed the Colorado had the worst headlights of any truck that was tested, as the base vehicle's units were only able to illuminate up to 123 feet in front of the car. The Ridgeline's headlights, for reference, were able to illuminate up to 358 feet in front of the vehicle. To conduct its test, the IIHS utilizes a special tool to measure how far light is projected out of the headlights in different driving situations. The trucks' headlights were tested in a straight line and in corners, while vehicles with high-beam assist were given extra praise. The headlights on the pickup trucks also mimic the testing that was done on small SUVs and cars earlier this year. Next year, automakers will need to fit their vehicles with headlights that earn a rating of either good or acceptable to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Related Video:

GM uses wind power to build SUVs, trucks

Tue, Oct 9 2018

This week started with a chill, as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a dire report with scientists warning, "The world we know today is not the world we will see in 50 years," with temperatures rising at their current rates. In the meantime, the trend toward purchasing more SUVs and crossovers continues. Most automakers, though, have set goals toward more sustainable production. That includes General Motors, which, somewhat ironically, plans to use wind power to produce many of its vehicles, including pickups and full-size SUVs. As the Detroit Free Press reports, several wind farms are coming online to support cleaner production as part of a partnership between GM and energy producer CMS Enterprises. At the beginning of October, the 100-megawatt Northwest Ohio Wind Farm began producing energy, supplying GM operations in Ohio and Indiana, where manufactured vehicles include the Chevy Cruze, Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. Hilltopper Wind Farm in Illinois will begin producing another 100 megawatts for GM manufacturing in the region. In Texas, where GM builds the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL and Cadillac Escalade, the automaker is getting 50 megawatts from Cactus Flats Wind Farm beginning October 9. Using wind power isn't just about being green, but also for the sake of price stability. As Rob Threlkeld, GM's global manager of renewable energy told the Free Press, "You don't get the price spikes this way, like you do with fuel, and it reduces the environment footprint of the vehicle you're driving." Threlkeld said that renewable energy has already meant "millions of dollars in savings" for GM. GM plans to power all of its global operations with renewable energy by 2050. This week, the automaker was ranked 76 on the EPA's "National Top 100 List" of green manufacturers. It was the only automotive company listed.
