1986 Chevrolet Flame Big Block Rat Rod Race Van on 2040-cars
Coatesville, Pennsylvania, United States
Regretfully listing my 1986 Chevrolet G10/G20 Van. Started with a spotless 90k chassis and began the build. Started by having the frame and body media blasted and then resprayed with respective undercoating and 2 stage base clear uni black urethane with clear coat. Hand laid flames. Chassis has a custom ladder bar rear suspension setup to handle the 600+hp. Narrowed 9" rear with 4.10 gears to fit the mini tub slicks in the rear. For the engine I chose a good 454 big block bottom end and had the entire motor built @ Spyder Prep Racing Heads of Coatesville, PA. They hot tanked the entire block, magna fluxed it for any cracks or other issues, painted the block and then proceeded with final assembly. 454 stock bore was increased .060 over to 4.310 final bore and installed custom spec high compression pistons along with a hydraulic Roller Cam, Mobile Port Heads and Manifolds, Holley 800 Double Pumper, 468 Stroker crank with a final stroke of 4". For the trans I sourced a brand new GM Turbo 400 big block trans and had it built to handle 600 hp with a shift kit. The suspension is a custom coil over suspension with a rear eaton posi differential. Weld Wheels in polished aluminum. Tires have decent tread but are 7 years old and could use replaced as they are becoming hard. Upgraded Camaro front disc brakes.
Full Custom Roll Bar install to compliment and work with the tubbed rear. Motor on a conservative pump gas tune made 613 whp and over 670 lb ft of torque. To say this van is insane is an understatement. The van is currently registered and insured and driven in PA. It is emissions exempt for me as I drive it less than 2000 miles a year. Please consult your states inspection laws for safety and emission equipment. |

Jay Leno gets pulled over while roaring in a Corvette Z06 convertible
Tue, Jan 6 2015No one is above the law, even if that person is a certain silver-haired auto enthusiast with a popular weekly video series about the cars in his garage. This week, Jay Leno experiences the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z06, but he also gets to have a meeting with some of California's Finest immediately after a high-speed blast. As opposed to the full-bore Z06 coupe with the seven-speed manual, Leno gets behind the wheel of the slightly heavier convertible version with the eight-speed auto. Being a droptop doesn't bother him too much, but Leno makes it obvious he wishes that he could be shifting for himself. Even if the auto is technically quicker, Leno says that swapping gears gives him something to do while driving. Of course, one of the major advantages of the convertible is the ability to listen to the Z06's thumping V8 unimpeded. With 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque from 6.2-liters of supercharged muscle, it already puts down impressive numbers, but the sound might just be the best part of all. Around town, the 'Vette is quiet enough to easily blend in with the rest of traffic. However, tip the throttle down and the valves in the exhaust open up to turn the engine into roaring monster. Be careful where you make this thing howl, though, because it's pretty easy for the police to take notice. The host finds that out the hard way in this week's episode of Jay Leno's Garage. Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV
Mon, Jul 20 2015A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV
