Great bus for church, sports, business. If you replaced the original seats, it would be in absolute mint condition and (at this mileage) go for 15-20k. Grab yourself a bargain. If you pay up front, I am happy to deliver pretty much anywhere in the continental US, for 1,000."

CHEVY 2003 3500E (EXPRESS) - WHITE - 85,000 miles - Great condition
Great work van, school bus, family wagon, church van, removals wagon.

General overview:

Model: 3500 6.0L V8 Work Cargo Van A/C Tow Pkg & Stereo
Engine: V8 6L OHV

This Express has the 323-hp, 6.0-liter V-8 with 373 pounds-feet of tourque. Standard safety features for all models include: four-wheel-disc antilock brakes and lap/shoulder belts for the all center seats. This engine has air-filter and oil-life monitors and are mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that incorporates a Tow/Haul mode.  This 6.0-liter V-8 has a fast-idle option that makes it easier to run accessories while the vehicle is idling.
  • 86,000 miles only
  • 6 liter V8. Excellent engine.
  • Reliable, clean, well maintained
  • Great battery. Starts perfectly. Very reliable.
  • Electric Tow Bar (wired, ready to be connected), A/C (good), power windows, no rust, great bodywork, regularly serviced
  • 5 New tyres, with excellent tread
  • Seats 15 (full set of seats). Seats are very fast and easy to remove, for big loads.
  • Was originally a Government vehicle. So, very well maintained, religiously serviced and in excellent condition.

Great, new stuff:

  1. Brand new paint job (white) - paid $1,500 - this week
  2. Brand new window tint (professional, all round) - paid $350 - this week
  3. Brand new spark plugs, oil change and filter - paid $100 - this week
  4. Brand new seat covers - this week
  5. Brand new underlay - this week
  6. Brand new carpet - this week
  7. Professionally cleaned throughout - this week - $100

That's $2050 of value, right there!

Only negatives (very minor, but worth mentioning for complete transparency):

  • Exterior: A very, very small dent on one side panel. It is almost invisible to the naked eye.
  • Interior: Original seats (gray leather/vinyl) are a bit tatty (hence seat covers)
  • Interior: Original roof fabric is a bit tatty (might replace)
  • Interior: One interior rear door panel is missing (easy to replace and easy to find cheaply on ebay)

So... with a very small bit of work, and a little bit of tender love and care, this van will be in great shape. Adding possibly 5k to the value. These vans (at this mileage and condition) regularly sell for 15-20k. They also hold their value well and it is easy to find many of these which are going strong at 150, 200, 250,000 miles. Case in point, I recently saw one advertised on a local craigslist, with 260k on the clock, going for 8,500. Enough said. These hold value, work forever and are much loved by all.

I have a very genuine reason for sale - my wife doesn't like driving it and she makes the real rules. She wants something smaller and something that looks a little cooler! Otherwise, we've been very happy with it. It's been great to us and great for the kids.

I am willing to deliver this anywhere (within reason) in the Continental USA for 1,000 extra. Mainly because no-one else seems to do that and I'm up for a road trip.

These vans sell fast. This is in great condition and the buyer will be very happy. Bid in confidence and without delay, this won't hang about!

So tell me matey, what are you waiting for?

Don't delay, stick your bid in now.

NO TIMEWASTERS. NO BIDDERS WITH ZERO, NEGATIVE OR VERY LOW FEEDBACK. NO TYRE KICKERS. ONLY BID IF YOU WANT TO BUY. NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT (20%) WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION. BALANCE IN FULL WITHIN 7 DAYS. I WILL ONLY DELIVER UPON RECEIPT OF 100% CLEAR FUNDS AND THE $1,000 DELIVERY CHARGE.

GM cutting back on powertrain warranty citing lack of interest

Thu, Mar 12 2015

Generally, when a manufacturer offers a long, high-mileage warranty, it's a sign that it stands behind its products. On top of that, it's generally a selling point for consumers, who can rest easy knowing that any catastrophic failures will be picked up by the manufacturer. Considering those facts, it does seem rather strange that General Motors is slashing the mileage warranty on model year 2016 vehicles from Chevrolet and GMC. Instead of offering consumers a 100,000-mile warranty, GM will now only offer a powertrain warranty up to 60,000 miles. The five-year warranty period, though, remains unchanged. GM will also cut the number of free services being offered to Chevy and GMC owners, as well as Buick drivers, from four to two. "Through research, we have determined that when purchasing a new vehicle, included maintenance and warranty rank low on the list of reasons why consumers consider a particular brand over another," explained a memo sent to dealers by Chevrolet VP Brian Sweeney and his GMC counterpart, Duncan Aldred, and obtained by Automotive News. "As a result, we have benchmarked our competitors, reviewed our current offerings and have concluded the following modifications to align closely with our customers' needs and expectations." While the move might seem odd, Sweeney and Aldred are right – according to Automotive News, Ford, Honda and Toyota each offer a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. As for what the money saved by trimming the powertrain warranty will go towards, a GM spokesperson simply told AN that the company will "reinvest the savings we will realize into other retail programs," some of which have been requested by consumers. What are your thoughts? Would a 40,000-mile reduction in a new vehicle's powertrain really turn you off from buying one? Even if it matched its competitors? Is GM better off spending its money elsewhere? Have your say in Comments. More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."
