True Super Sport 454 Big Block Truck! New Paint! Loaded With Ac Ps Pb's Turn Key on 2040-cars
Kansas City, Missouri, United States
1974 SUPER SPORT EL CAMINO! A TRUE NUMBERS MATCHING 454 BIG BLOCK CAR THAT IS LOADED WITH OPTIONS! AIR CONDITIONING, POWER STEERING, & POWER BRAKES! ALL ORIGINAL & SOLID SHEET METAL! PROFESSIONALLY REPAINTED THIS YEAR! LOTS OF MONEY INVESTED JUST THIS YEAR ALONE! This El Camino is truly remarkable. Not often can I say this but in this case, the photos as well as video do not do this El Camino a bit of justice. Over the last year this El Camino has received a tremendous amount of work. From brake and suspension work to the most significant enhancement, having it professionally repainted. Just within the last two weeks we installed the SS stripes as well as equipped it with a brand new set of 17" wheels and Nitto tires. The only mileage the wheels and tires have seen are what you've viewed within the video. Maybe ten miles at this point? A few years ago, the motor was also rebuilt and as you can see, everything was put back exactly how it should be. Mechanically the El Camino drives out like it just came off of the showroom floor. Body: This El Camino is completely rust free. It retains all of its original sheet metal which is extremely straight. Which means that the El Camino managed to survive over three decades with out ever being molested or hacked on. That in its own is a fairly rare feat! Nearly a year ago, the El Camino was stripped and repainted. The craftsmanship is remarkable. The paint shines out beautifully and the stripes line up extremely well. The El Camino has a brand new setup of 17" custom wheels which are wrapped in brand new high dollar Nitto tires. I actually just purchased these and had them put in less than a week ago! They really give the El Camino that perfect stance. All of the glass through out the El Camino is in excellent shape as is all of the trim. The El Camino also retains its original Jack which can be seen within the photos located below. I also have a brand new El Camino emblem for the tail gate. Engine & Mechanical: The El Camino still retains its original 454 big block. Which according to the previous owner, was rebuilt approximately three years ago and has little to no miles on it. He had driven it about one hundred miles the entire time he owned it and I know that we've put less then that on it since owning it. I would estimate that the motor has less than a thousand miles on it. It does not have a single mechanical issue. It starts up every time and runs out exceptionally well. The same can be said for the transmission. It shifts smoothly through out its gears and has zero mechanical problems. When the motor was installed, that is when new dual exhaust was installed. The exhaust setup compliments the motor very well as it sounds absolutely tremendous. The power steering setup works flawlessly as does the power brake setup. It does have front disc with rear drums. The El Camino does not squeak, shake, or pull when stopping. All of the electrical components through out the El Camino are in excellent working order. The turn signals, head lights, tail lights, the AC, windshield wiper blades, everything works! Even the original 8 Track radio still works (which can be viewed in the video below). The El Camino also is equipped with its original and larger ten bolt rear end. The shocks through out the El Camino have been updated and provide for a much smoother ride. Interior: The majority of the interior has been redone and is of excellent condition. The bench seat has been recovered, a new headliner has been installed, the carpet is new, the door panels are new, and the new dash pad we just installed in the last week. About the only thing that the interior needs are the vents could be repainted. They are not cracked or broken but they are faded. These big block El Caminos are already fairly difficult to find. Now throw in the fact that it retains all of its original sheet metal, that it hasn't been butchered, and that its been fully restored, NOW you've got a whole lot of automobile for a fraction of what it would cost to build one. I personally would love to keep the El Camino but given my current situation, I have to sell it. I will be evaluating all reasonable offers and I will in fact sell the El Camino early as we do have it for sale "locally". I strongly encourage anyone who is interested to please call or email to schedule a time to come check it out. I would also like to add that I am usually on the phone from 7 AM until about 12 AM so you are always welcome to call and if I do not answer, just leave a message and I will return your call immediately. I know from my own experience with purchasing cars online, most of the time it is very difficult to get someone on the phone and to obtain the information you need. So I try to always stay on top of emails and phone calls. We do have a clear title for this El Camino. As always, good luck and happy bidding! Thanks, Shawn (816) 308-0351 I also have several other highly collectible automobiles on eBay right now! Please feel free to check them out by clicking here. Thank you! Need financing? GM to restore legendary Corvette damaged in sinkhole accident
Fri, Dec 5 2014Car lover's hearts' sank when they saw images of bent and destroyed classic Corvettes at the bottom of a sinkhole last February after the floor of the National Corvette Museum gave way. General Motors announced Wednesday it would restore the one millionth Corvette ever produced to its former glory. The 1992 convertible was heavily damaged when a 40-foot deep sinkhole opened beneath a bevy of rare cars at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Since then, GM has been slowly restoring the classic cars, though five of the eight that caught in the sinkhole were determined to be too damaged to repair. This November, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 Blue Devil was the first car to be returned in mint condition to the Museum, according to Autoblog. It suffered significant damage but was still drivable after being pulled out of the debris. The one millionth Corvette is still in bad shape. The automaker is estimating six months worth of work to restore the car, which sustained paint scratches, rear-suspension damage and a mangled front fender. Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]
Wed, Jan 14 2015Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show
Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray
Fri, 25 Oct 2013We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
