This El Camino was a former off frame build in the late 70’s. It has extensive chrome plating and amazing laquer paint which would cost 20k-30k at today’s prices.

This 71 SS is a former ISCA show car which saw very limited street use after completion.

I have known the car and its former owner since 1982. As the pictures show this 30 year old laquer with candy scallops, ribbon paint and ghost flames and beautiful detail is still in beautiful shape. During the build the frame was removed, blasted and detailed then painted, pinstriped and made as nice as the top.

When I located the car in central Florida it still had the valour Cadillac seats and door panels from early 80’s. I replaced these with Pro-Car seats and door panels and kick panels from NPD. The blower motor and turbo 350 had been removed for another project when the El Camino’s show days ended and the rolling chassis was put in dry storage for the next 25 years. Somewhere in that time, the car was moved from Fort Lauderdale where I located its owner and convinced him to sell.

The car is currently located near Tampa Florida. Always stored and in the past 5 years it has seen very limited use.

The current motor and transmission have roughly 300 miles on them. The transmission is a Turbo 400 with a reverse pattern valve body. The blower currently on the car has had the rotor removed and was modified to fit over the 650 Holley Carb. It does not function but retains the original look and still has the great blower whine and attitude.  PAYPAL WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR DEPOSIT ONLY. Full payment less deposit must be by cashiers check or cash in person. Vehicle will not be released until funds have cleared the sellers bank......

The engine is

.030 over 010 cast 4 bolt main block

186/202 Double hump heads

292 H Comp Cam

Comp cam Roller rockers

1182 Steel Crank

Pink Rods

10 to 1 Forged TRW Pistons

Carb is a 650 Holley

The turbo 400 trans has a 3500 converter and the fully detailed 12 bolt rear had the original 5:46 gear removed and 3.42 gear installed.

The radio and dash lights are currently not working, Power locks do not work, all of these should be an easy fix and the nitrous bottle was purchased used but I never installed it. THANKS FOR CONSIDERING MY CAR, IT IS TRULY A VERY NICE VEHICLE

This is a great piece of history and totally streetable. Please email with any questions. As with any vehicle like this there is No Warranty or guarantees. Shipping arrangements and costs will be paid by the purchaser. Check your state vehicle laws before bidding and be sure you want this car.It has been titled, registered and street driven in Florida for years.

First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.

GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee

Tue, Sep 8 2015

General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.

Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans

Thu, Apr 30 2020

Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. Muscle sedans, take your pick: — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) April 14, 2020 Then and now enthusiasts felt the Impala was a more complete execution with guts. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.
