For auction is my beautiful original Choo Choo Custom El Camino. History of the Choo Choo: El Camino's were built in Mexico & from the factory were shipped to Chattanooga, Tenn. to be customized. These were built from mid 1983 to 1987. Approximately 2200 were converted by Customs Inc. of Chattanooga. After customization the vehicle had to be "Re-Certified" & given a door tag with the certification tag number. (see photo) Only SS editions were used which included: Rally wheels, sport mirrors, heavy duty radiator, the 190 HP 305 V8 engine & tachometer. Additional features were then added: Special aerodynamic polyurethane front nose, design series door handles, Choo Choo decals on front & tailgate, CC custom train emblem on the dash & the hood scoop.

This is the vehicle you are viewing. I am the second owner & have owned the vehicle for over two years. As you can see from the photo's this vehicle has been maintained in excellent condition & always garaged. The white exterior paint is original. Has a gray two tone interior & a tonneau bed cover. The radio has been replaced with a up grade Sony AM/FM cassette car stereo. Added a third high brake light. Seat is a three person (with three seat belts) & a drop down arm rest for two people. Spare tire & jack have never been used. (see photo) The short block was replaced at 43,390 miles while still in warranty, consequently the engine has just over 100,000 miles. It also has rear factory air shocks. Included in the photo's are the original vehicle invoice, build sheet & all the original manuals. The vehicle has not been in any accidents. Very remarkable for a vehicle that is 27 years old. Also, check the AutoCheck score. Above range for similar vehicles.
There are no mechanical needs, everything works. The vehicle starts, runs & drives very nice without any problems. It's a real attention getter. This is a very rare well cared for beauty. The reserve is very reasonable set below Hagerty's & Keith Martin's suggested selling price.
If you have questions & are a serious buyer you may email me as I love to talk about my El Camino.

Buyer is responsible for pickup & or delivery. I will be available to assist.

Thanks for looking.

Peter Max staring down $1M lawsuit over Corvette collection sale

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Pop artist Peter Max recently sold off his collection of 36 vintage Chevrolet Corvettes – one each from 1953 to 1989 – for an undisclosed amount. The new owners have already announced plans to restore some of them and auction the models off sometime soon. Up until then, the sports cars had been languishing in various garages around New York City for decades and were caked in dust and grime. However, Max's end of the transaction has just become more complicated, because two men are suing the artist claiming he employed them to complete the deal first. The men allege that Max hired them to broker the sale of the 36 Corvettes in exchange for a 10-percent commission, according to the New York Post. They claim to have emails and text messages proving the existence of the deal, and are taking Max to court for $1 million over the squabble. The collection of Corvettes was amassed in 1989 as part of a prize package from the television network VH1, and Max bought the cars from the winner intending on using them for an art project. He never got around to it, though, and parked the sports cars around New York, until he finally sold them over the summer.

Junkyard Gem: 1985 Chevrolet Sprint

Thu, May 21 2020

For in the 1985 model year, General Motors began selling Chevrolet-badged Suzuki Cultus hatchbacks in California. Sales of the cheap three-cylinder econobox in the rest of North America followed soon after (with the Canadian version known as the Pontiac Firefly), and did pretty well considering the crash in gasoline prices during the middle 1980s. Starting in 1988, the facelifted Sprint became the Geo (and, later on, Chevrolet) Metro. Here's one of the very first Cultuses sold on our shores, found in a San Francisco Bay Area car graveyard. Amazingly, the primitive rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Chevette remained available all the way through 1987, competing with the thriftier front-wheel-drive Sprint in the same showrooms. For 1988, Pontiac started selling a rebadged Daewoo LeMans, so the Sprint/Metro never lacked for intra-corporate competition. Inside, you'll find the same stuff most mid-1980s Japanese econoboxes got: tough cloth upholstery and long-wearing hard plastics. Suzuki quality in 1985 wasn't quite up to Honda or Toyota levels, but you weren't paying Honda or Toyota prices for the Sprint. MSRP on this car started at $4,949, or about $12,000 in 2020 dollars. The cheapest possible 1985 Chevette cost $5,340, while a new no-frills Ford Escort would set you back $5,620. Subaru, however, could have put you in a punitively unappointed base-model Leone hatchback for just 40 bucks more than the Sprint that year. I think I'd have sprung the extra for a $5,348 Toyota Tercel, a $5,195 Mazda GLC, or— best cheap-commuter deal of all that year— the $5,399 Honda Civic 1300 hatchback. I was 19 years old and driving a Competition Orange 1968 Mercury Cyclone that year, and I recall feeling pity for Chevy Sprint drivers, new-car smell or not. Still, these weren't bad cars for the price, though a Sprint with an automatic transmission was a real character-builder. Got three cylinders and uses 'em all! 48 horsepower from this hemi-headed SOHC 1-liter. The Turbo Sprint — yes, such a car existed — had a howling 70 horsepower. The hood-latch release is a rectangular button that resembles a badge. 1985 Chevy Sprint Commercial The highest-mileage, lowest-priced car you can buy. 1985 holden barina commercial The Australian-market version was the Holden Barina, and the TV ads featured the Road Runner. 1983 SUZUKI CULTUS Ad In its homeland, this car got screaming guitars and a drive through New York City for its TV commercials.

Watch the live reveal of the 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra [UPDATE]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

UPDATE: The trucks have been revealed. Click here for all of the official details.
As promised, Chevrolet and GMC are offering a live webcast of the world premiere for the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. After being teased with spy shots and blurry images like the one above for ages, now is the time to see the trucks in the metal, for real (well, as 'real' as it gets on a webcast, at any rate).
Shift your eyes down just below to see the reveal as it happens, starting at 9:30 AM EST. We anticipate having loads of images full technical information to share after the webcast, too, so truck aficionados should stay tuned. We'll also be bringing you live images of both trucks too, when we see them on the show floor at next month's Detroit Auto Show.
