1986 Chevrolet Chevelle El Camino 76k Original Pampered Miles Excellent! Topper on 2040-cars
Burleson, Texas, United States
Up for auction is one of the cleanest, finest, survivor El Caminos you will ever see of the last generation of El Caminos. At just over 76K miles, this was Grandpa's pampered baby right up until the day he passed away this spring. Meticulously cared for, this is a rust free, always garaged, Arizona El Camino. He purchased it in 2006 with 60K miles. Had one repaint that really wasn't needed, but paint job is very good, plus he added wheel opening molding. He found an original 60/40 seat that he had upholstered with plush extra padding and velour, and is a great upgrade to the original bench seat. It is very comfortable! This car handles, rides, and drives like new. For an 80's car, to me, it is better than expected, driving at 80MPH just as smooth and easily as if you are going 30MPH. No weird wind noise or whistles. Has air shocks on the back. The rare, locking topper is excellent, and is newly painted white. Tires are excellent on original rally wheels. The V6 doesn't feel like a V6 at all. It has plenty of power and starts quickly every time with the throttle body fuel injection. The overdrive transmission has been serviced, and helps it achieve 25 MPG. The brakes are almost new. The A/C is colder that these were new. Almost $700 spent on the R134a conversion, and blows very cold. Everything works on this car. Before Grandpa passed away, to my surprise, he wanted a new stereo installed. So,I installed a new AM/FM/CD DIN radio to replace the original, and I added two 6x9 3-way speakers behind the seat in addition to the two speakers in the dash. I will include the original radio that I pulled out of it. This is an amazing example of an original El Camino that is in superb condition, and we really want to see it go to a new buyer that will appreciate it and enjoy it as much as Grandpa did. $1000 deposit required immediately after purchase or auction end. We will work with your transport company, or will accommodate a local pickup from Burleson, Texas, just south of Fort Worth. Thank you and Happy Bidding!

GM to squeeze out more production capacity for midsize trucks
Tue, May 26 2015General Motors was predicting a strong showing for the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon before they debuted, and demand among dealers for the midsize trucks even exceeded company's expectations. The positive situation has left GM with a problem, though: finding ways to increase capacity for the pickups at the Wentzville Assembly plant in Missiouri. With a third shift already running, GM has continued to look for ways to build just a few more of the trucks at the plant. The company has plans to hire as many as 1,000 more workers for the Saturday and Sunday shifts to construct an additional 2,000 pickups a month, according to unnamed insiders at the factory speaking to Automotive News. The little adjustments even extend to getting rid of an unpaid break to add 18 minute of assembly time over the course of a day, which equals about 3,500 more vehicles a year. All of this effort comes because the trucks are in such high demand. According to GM's figures, the company has delivered a combined 35,720 units of the Colorado and Canyon from January through April 2015, and the Chevy was the fastest-selling truck in the US for the previous three months. In May, it spent an average of just 12 days in showrooms before being snapped up. And even better for the company, 43 percent of these buyers came from other brands. According to Automotive News, the most popular trade-ins have included the Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma, and Dodge Dakota. Related Video:
Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump
Mon, 11 Feb 2013To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
Here are the new starting prices for all eight of the Malibu trim levels compared to the previous prices for the 2013 model year (including destination):
Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R named Road & Track Performance Car of the Year
Mon, Nov 9 2015With a 526-horsepower, 5.2-liter V8 that roars to 8,250 rpm, it's really hard to consider the 2016 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R an underdog in any fight. However, the Shelby held the lowest as-tested price and was only middle of the pack in terms of power in Road & Track's 2016 Performance Car of the Year challenge. The 'Stang's numbers clearly didn't tell the whole story about the potent coupe because Ford's muscle car grabbed the title in this year's test. A model needs to be new or significantly updated to be eligible for the honor, and R&T found an impressive slate of eight candidates this year. The challengers included the Bentley Continental GT3-R, Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper ACR, Mercedes-AMG GT S, and Porsche Cayman GT4. The Ferrari 488 GTB was the most expensive of the bunch with an as-tested price of $347,942, which is five times more than the Shelby. Once the group was together, R&T hustled them over curving roads and on the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park. There was a lot to love about the Shelby, even in this impressive crew. "With a flat-plane crank and Sport Cup 2 tires, the GT350R is a Mustang turned up to 11," editor-in-chief Larry Webster said in the announcement of the results. The GT350R joins some great company. Past winners include the Porsche 911 GT3 last year and the Corvette in 2013. For some fantastic photography and the complete appraisal of these performance machines check out R&T's website for the full story.
