ORIGINAL "SURVIVOR"-CLASS AUTOMOBILE !     NUMBERS-MATCHING 2-OWNER SUPER SPORT !      V8, 4-SPEED, POSITRACTION 305 !

THEY'RE ONLY ORIGINAL,ONCE !   This numbers-matching V8 4-speed positraction el Camino Super Sport is an unmolested, factory-stock, 2-owner classic!  The drivetrain is untouched, has never required mechanical repair and still wears it's factory light blue engine paint.  And it runs like the day it was delivered!  It has only been driven 49,546 miles since leaving the assembly line, it's practically new!  The M20 4-speed shifts smoothly without any problems, and the smooth, noise-free 3.08 positraction rear axle keeps the rear wheels from spinning and losing traction.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW AN ORIGINAL, UN-MOLESTED 4-SPEED EL CAMINO FOR SALE???

This car shines in it's original metallic brown paint with black lower accent and factory tri-color tape stripes.   While the paint is exceptional for its age and shows the great care taken of the vehicle, there are some small chips present around the exterior and one small surface rust spot.  The rust spot is at the bottom edge of the passenger-side quarter window on the horizontal surface (see photo).    There is no other rust or rot on the vehicle, anywhere, other than mild underbody surface rust typical of a road-driven vehicle.   This car WAS driven in the rain and rarely in light snow when the owner was caught away from home, but there is NO rust or rot-through condition anywhere.  See the photos.

The interior has no rips or stained spots, the seats look almost new, the headliner is intact and looks like new, there are no tears on the door panels and the carpet is not stained and ripped and is only slightly/modestly worn.   The dash pad is PERFECT, no splits or gouges.     Also, the door panels have a horizontal stripe of what appears to be a medium brown vinyl dye; the original owner states the car came this way from the dealer.  Best guess is that the dealer attempted to "jazz up" the interior by adding these dyed areas to the door panels as no record or photos have been found showing this feature as a factory-available option.  See the photos.  These dyed sections do need to be re-sprayed as the original coating has worn off in areas.

This Super Sport el Camino was built at GM's Doraville, GA assembly plant on or about October 20, 1978 and delivered to the dealer, Sunderland Chevrolet (dealer no. 49-580) in Lemoyne, PA and was sold to its first retail purchaser on February 12, 1979.  The buyer had the dealer remove the factory AM radio and install an AM/FM radio in its place  (original AM radio comes with the car) and a below-bumper trailer hitch and 4-plug wiring.   The buyer was a married couple and the vehicle was mostly driven by the wife in short distances to work and shopping.   The original condition of the vehicle testifies as to how well it was taken care of during their ownership.   The Seller purchased the el Camino as its second owner in November 2011;  it is owned under a clear, signed Pennsylvania title from the original, owner and a notarized Bill of Sale.

This is a numbers-matching, documented history, factory original, low-mileage "Survivor" vehicle.   It cannot be overemphasized how unique this makes this el Camino.  If you love Chevy el Caminos and appreciate the increased value of a low-mileage 4-speed V8 no-rust car in the collector world , this is the car for you.   Except for normal maintenance items and a new stock exhaust system, this vehicle is just the way it was delivered from the original Chevrolet dealer.  As is somewhat typical, the a/c system is not currently operating; all components are present, but according to  the original owner the compressor bearings got noisy so he had the drive belt removed;  supposedly the system is charged with original refrigerant and just needs the bearing replaced or a rebuilt compressor.

Serious buyers are encouraged to inspect the vehicle.  Please call 508-869-6670 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EDT,  to arrange an inspection time or to ask any questions.   The vehicle is located in central Massachusetts, near Worcester, MA, about 50 miles west of Boston.

The Buyer is responsible for pickup and delivery of the vehicle and any taxes due on its purchase.   This is a "Reserve Price" auction.

The vehicle is for sale locally so this auction may end without notice or recourse to bidders if purchased prior to the auction end date/time.   The Seller reserves the right to cancel bids from any bidder determined to be unable to complete the purchase.    PLEASE, do not bid if you do not have the cash available to complete your purchase of this vehicle.

A $1,000. desposit shall be due within 24-hours after the close of this auction via Paypal.  The balance of the winning bid shall be paid in cash, by wire transfer, or bank treasurer's/cashier's check deposited AND cleared by the Seller's bank prior to delivery of the vehicle and transfer paperwork.

GM learning from current Chevy Volt owners as it works on next-gen model

Tue, Sep 16 2014

Details of the second-generation Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid are coming in at a trickle, and the latest is that the 2016 model-year Volt will be improved in all meaningful areas, including performance and all-electric range, says General Motors powertrain director Larry Nitz. 60 percent of Volt customers only charge using a standard 110 outlet. Nitz was speaking to Autoline After Hours about the current and future Volt. He said that GM has been tracking Volt driving habits and found that about two-thirds of the Volts' collective miles are driven in electric mode, and that 81 percent of all Volt trips were done in pure EV mode. Additionally, Volt drivers plug the car in 10 times each week, on average. Nitz also said 82 percent of the Volt's commuting miles are coming from the plug instead of the gas tank. Oh, and 60 percent of Volt customers only charge using a standard 110 outlet. Last month, GM released a teaser shot of the 2016 Volt (above) and said the car would make its worldwide debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show next January. Earlier this year, the Volt was reported to be getting a new chassis for the upcoming version. The Volt could use a bit of new life. Through August, Volt sales were down 12 percent from a year earlier to 13,146 units, and sales plunged 25 percent alone. That compares unfavorably to the Nissan Leaf battery-electric vehicle, whose 2014 sales have jumped 34 percent to almost 19,000 units. You can see Nitz dish the goods in the video below (Volt comments start at around minute 15). You will also notice AutoblogGreen contributor Gary Witzenburg talk about his history with the EV1 and share his take on the Volt. This content is hosted by a third party. 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 [w/videos]

Wed, Jan 7 2015

I think I was supposed to be back hours ago. Driving northwest on State Road 190 with a final destination deep in the heart of the Death Valley National Park, it occurs to me that I might have agreed to return after an hour or so, instead of the four I'll end up stealing, solo, in the new Z06. Somewhere in the combination of mountain vistas, arching, speed-hungry desert roads, and the sound of this titanic engine on a constant run up the rev ladder, I forgot everything I'd promised back at home base. The generous, civilized part of me worries for a moment that absconding with the new-best Corvette might have left one of my fellow journalists without a car. But the selfish part of me – the part largely in control of the rocket-launcher of a throttle under my right foot – says "screw it." I spent two days with the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06, a monster of a sports car that will soon be dominating track days everywhere, and I never once was inclined to share it. Hurtling through the shattered stillness of the desert and pulling big Gs at Spring Mountain circuit, I never felt overly disposed to give up my seat. This Corvette, more than any I've yet driven, was deep enough to hold my attention; for two days, for two years, probably. With this Z06, the Corvette steps over the amazing-for-the-price category, and solidly into the best-cars-in-the-world zone. There are peripheral elements that remind me of its blue collar, Bowtie heritage, sure, but there's more that simply begs me to carry on driving... faster. Most casual car observers will be able to pick the 2015 Z06 out from its less aggressive Stingray brothers. Subtler hints include a new, more open grille, larger extractor on the taller hood and rather discreet badges on the flanks of the car. More outrageous is the finned spoiler on the rear trunk lid, and the widebody look offered from flared fenders – an extra 1.57 inches (40 millimeters) at their beefiest point. Even driving around performance-car-laden Pahrump, NV – loaded thanks to the very active community at the Spring Mountain racing resort – members of the local populace were turning heads, waving and generally noting the Z06 with approval when I drove through town. In Torch Red over black painted aluminum wheels, staggered at 19-inches in front and 20 at the back, the amped-up Z06 hits a new level of road presence for the C7.
