1978 El Camino Ss on 2040-cars
Wilmington, Delaware, United States
Interior is in very good condition, has a Pioneer AM / FM / Cassette Stereo, with Radio Shack rear speakers. Springs, Shocks and Trailer Hitch are almost new, they came off my 86 El Camino. Comes with set of studded snow tires on the rims., Stainless Steel brake lines from Pro-Tube, custom 7 piece set still new in the box. Car is being sold "AS IS". Excellent project car, I don't have a lot of information on it, I bought it a couple years ago to restore but the guy I bought it from didn't know anything about it's history either. The body is in pretty bad shape with rust in all the normal places. Most of the rust is towards the rear, the quarter panels may need to be replaced. I see a couple little holes in the bed, I hadn't noticed them before but I have kept it covered for most of the 3 + years I've had it so maybe they were under the bed liner and I just hadn't notice them. I will try to answer any questions, but this is an "As Is" project car, I really don't want to sell it but I have too many projects and too many cars. I am not going to take it apart to find out what gears are in it or what is stamped on the block. I just don't have the time, sorry. I think this is going to make an excellent car and that someone is going to get very lucky, again I just don't have the time to do everything. Motor would appear to be a Goodwrench crate motor, valve covers say 350 but it could be a 305. I drove the car home when I bought it. My intention was to get the body work and under carriage issues done and then rebuild and stroke the engine or put a crate 5.7 HO engine in it before it got the final paint. After I checked everything out I decided to fix the brake lines, do a tune up and clean up the wiring so that if I had to drive it to anywhere for any reason it would be running and safe. When I was doing the tune up, I didn't like the way they had rigged up the plug on the distributor cap so I pulled all the wiring off and rewired the plug. Apparently when I had the distributor cap off addressing the plug I missed the ground connection from the ignition module. It wasn't firing after I replaced the cap and wires so I opted to wait to troubleshoot it until I had a little more time. Long story short when I found the time, a year later, the battery was dead so it should still run with no other real issues but again I don't have the time to repair it and if I did make the time, the price of the car would at least triple. Rear view mirror needs to be glued back on. There's no battery and when I went out to check the mileage I noticed the knob on window crank is missing. 2019 Chicago Auto Show photo gallery: All of the grilles
Fri, Feb 8 2019Do you like trucks? How about grilles? Like really big, shiny, chromey, in-your-face, could-be-made-by-Broil-King grilles? Well, the Chicago Auto Show is the place to be. Traditionally known as the truck show of the annual auto show circuit (at least those covered by national media), Chicago has what seems like a small national park's worth of acreage devoted to both consumer and commercial trucks. From humble extended cab Ford Rangers to a mammoth F-650 with cherry picker sprouting from its aft quarters, there's bound to be a truck for everything. And they all have grilles. So above is our gallery devoted to them, because hell, why not? Should you want to know about the trucks attached to those grilles, check out our coverage below. nuTonomy beats Uber to market with self-driving taxi rides, and the latest Corvette ZR1spy shots | Autoblog Minute
Sat, Aug 27 2016Software developer nuTonomy beats Uber to market with self-driving taxi rides in Singapore. A 124 Coupe could soon join Fiat's roadster lineup, and we have the latest spy shots of the new Corvette ZR!. Senior Editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Mintue. Senior Editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Mintue. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Massachusetts based software company, nuTonomy, launched its self-driving taxi service in Singapore this week. nuTonomy specializes in developing software for self-driving cars. Testing of the companies ride-hailing smartphone app occurred in Singapore, where riders were able to book a free driverless ride. nuTonomy's robo-taxi fleet is comprised of Renault Zoes and Mitsubishi i-MiEVs. Engineers from nuTonomy were present at this public launch as a safety measure. [00:00:30] The company will now continue to collect data and conduct more testing with its self-driving cars in Singapore, Michigan and the United Kingdom. nuTonomy has plans to offer widely-available commercial service in Singapore in 2018. nuTonomy's aggressive play in Singapore has put Uber and its partner Volvo in the unlikely position of playing catch-up. Autocar reported this week that we should expect FCA to add a Coupe [00:01:00] to it's 124 roadster lineup. When? Well, seeing as the 124 Spider just recently made it US dealers we may have to wait until next year to see a hardtop Fiata. It's tough to predict what kind of performance we can expect out of a 124 Coupe but in the U.S. the Spider has 160hp using a 1.4-l turbocharged engine. So the car you see in these pictures is actually Fiat's 124 Rally car that will be used for competition. [00:01:30] Now that's not exactly how the street car will look but it gives you an idea of what a 124 with a fixed roof is gonna look like. This week we got another look at what we think is the Chevy Corvette ZR1 and its massive rear wing. Now to be clear, the images that we're seeing are actually demonstrations. The car was actually captured without the rear wing. However, our spy photographers photoshopped the wing, which we've seen before, on some of these new shots just so you could get [00:02:00] a sense of what the car looks like driving around in it's most recent state. Now we think this car will make more than 700hp, which is kind of a magic number. The Hellcats from Chrysler make 707 so certainly GM wants to beat them.
Porsche 911 tops a list of must-have classics, but No. 2 is more of a surprise
Wed, Aug 9 2023No surprise here: In Europe, the Porsche 911 is the most sought-after classic car. Surprise here: Slip-streaming the 911 in the most sought-after chart compiled by the Car & Classic marketplace is the Ford Mustang. Using the Google search engine as a means to pick the winners, as well as the average prices achieved on the “Car and Classic” website, the venerable 911 was tagged 1.45 million times per month according to data stretching back 15 years. The number of 911Â’s sold though the C&C marketplace was 21,141, at an average price of 58,409 pounds, or $74,300. FordÂ’s pony car, still a popular choice for buyers in Europe, placed second on the list with 1.2 million monthly searches. The average sales price over 15 years was 31,107 pounds ($39,570), and the number of older Mustangs sold reached a total of 8,332. Models that also finished among the charted top 10 include the Land Rover Range Rover, the Corvette, the ultra-classic British favorite Jaguar E-Type and the BMW 3 Series. “Whilst a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS could set you back the best part of GBP500,000 ($636,000), there are many more affordable models, which bring the average sale price of a 911 on Car & Classic to GBP58,000 ($73,800) – the third highest average selling price of any make and model on the site,” explained Dale Vinten of Car & Classic. According to the site, the Jaguar fetched the highest average selling price: a whopping 89,000 pounds, or $113,000. But thatÂ’s peanuts compared to a Series 1 Roadster in excellent condition, said Vinten. For that, “you can expect to spend up to GBP250,000 ($318,000), A Series 2 or 3 will cost less, as they are not as desirable, but in decent condition you can expect to pay around GBP40,000-GBP50,000. Even a barn find 1969 E-Type Series 2 Roadster can set you back to the tune of GBP33,000 ($42,000)." Launched in 2005, Car & Classic is among EuropeÂ’s most popular classic car clearinghouses. It also runs a stand-alone auction site.
