THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!!!     Up for bids is a 1973 Chevrolet Elcamino. This is a running driving project car or just check it over and drive it as is. This Elcamino has what I think is a H.O. 305 engine, I haven't run any numbers so im just going by what the previous owner told me. The engine sounds and runs good, the carburetor may need a little adjusting as it seems to be a bit rich especially when it warms up. It looks to be a fairly new Edelbrock carb. The trans is an automatic and it shifts good. Theres no smoke or strange noises coming from the engine, sound good. The car has had some new parts just recently put on the front suspension. Theres some of the ball joints replaced, tie rod end etc. and it has new front brake pads. The rear brakes are very good also. The car drives really nice for a 73 model since all the worn parts have been installed. The wheels are fair condition with some rust spots starting on them. The rears are very wide as they have 50 series tires on them. I think they have the wrong lug nuts on the wheels because they just don't seem to fit right, think maybe there unilug wheels with regular lug nuts on part of them. Some of them seem ok. The rear tires are worn out, the fronts have tread but not matched. The exhaust on this car is pretty loud, it has headers with header mufflers but no tail pipes. Its loud but sounds good. The interior of this Elcamino needs some work but is useable as it is if you want to go that route. Some of the interior trim is missing like the package shelf and the lower back corner pieces. The shoulder belts are still there but the seat belts are missing. It has a hard shell dash cover on it which is in good condition. There is an aftermarket gauge panel mounted on the dash, think theres a pic of that. The seat has a nice cover on it but the seat is torn up underneath it. There is new black carpet that was just recently installed. The door panels are driver quality although somebody cut holes in the upper part to install speakers but they have been taken out. The lower metal part of the dash looks to be a green color but that would be easy to change, theres not much of it showing. The body on this Elcamino is pretty decent for the model. It has been painted flat black with a red stripe and gloss black stripes on the hood. Underneath this car is super solid as most of them are completely rusted away on a car this old. The bed floor, bed cross members and all the sheet metal underneath is some of the best ive seen on these cars. The floor boards have been repaired with sheetmetal and they did a very nice job on them. There are a couple pics of them before the carpet was installed. They were also painted before putting in the carpet so they will last a long time. The body has some small dents and dings but there seems to be very little rust. There is some filler work on the flat part of the wheel lip on the rear wheel opening for some reason, don't think its rust but maybe just where they started finishing it off, not sure. The bed floor is good as is the tailgate. Bumpers are driver quality but need rechromed for them to be nice. The front bumper filler panels are missing. Theres no chrome for the bed but the rear window chrome is there, just needs new clips to install it. The Elcamino has new door weather stripping on both doors and also the window wipes are new, these parts alone cost quite a bit of money. The doors are pretty solid with some light rust starting on the bottom but don't think theres any holes. The paint as I said is flat black, it looks decent but a nice shiny paint job would do wonders for this car but maybe youre ito the stealth thing and the flat is right for you. Also, just remembered the hood has a dent right in the middle of it but theres no brace underneath it there so it can be worked out. This is a decent old car guys but its far from new. It is a great car to do a little work on and use as a daily driver or go all out with a restoration. It does need a few minor things and also to be checked out before being road worthy, therefore I recommend you trailer or tow it to your place but that's up to you. I have run it out the road a few times but its not licensed or insured so that's all I could do. Also no idea of the actual mileage, cant say for sure the speedo works as I forgot to check it. That's about all I know to tell you so email me with your questions. Remember this is a running driving project car so very little work and youre good to go. Checkout my feedback guys as its well over 500 and all good. You don't get great feedback like that if you lie and cheat people so rest assure you dealing with an honest ebayer, I tell it like it is. If you have less than 10 positive feedback you must email me before bidding to assure me you will go through with the deal should you be the winning bidder. If you do not I will cancel your bid. Thanks for reading my novel and good luck should you decide to bid on this great Elcamino. This car has a clean and clear VA title ready to go.  REMEMBER THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!!!!

Safety group pans GM’s new Marketplace in-dash shopping

Wed, Dec 6 2017

When it comes to our cars, is the Internet of Things a godsend? Or a hidden menace that will create more problems than it will solve? On the same day General Motors announced it will equip newer-model cars with its in-dash Marketplace e-commerce app, a prominent safety group was shooting it down. National Safety Council President Deborah Hersman tells Bloomberg the technology will only contribute to distracted driving and hurt efforts to stem the tide of rising auto fatalities, which grew 5.6 percent to more than 37,000 in the U.S. in 2016. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says distracted driving was responsible for 3,477 fatalities and 391,000 injuries in 2015, the most recent year for which it has data. "There's nothing about this that's safe," Hersman told Bloomberg. "If this is why they want WiFi in the car, we're going to see fatality numbers go up even higher than they are now." Marketplace, developed with IBM, will allow drivers — or more often, one hopes, their passengers — to order coffee or food, find gas stations and reserve hotel rooms from their dashboard screens. The technology is set to be uploaded automatically to nearly 1.9 million GM vehicles model-year 2017 and later that are equipped with WiFi hotspots and compatible systems. By the end of 2018, about 4 million Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles will be equipped with Marketplace. The app will debut with a limited number of participating retailers, including TGI Fridays, Shell, Exxon Mobil and Starbucks, with more likely to join later. Online retail giant Amazon is also partnering with automakers such as Ford to bring e-commerce capabilities inside the car through its Alexa personal assistant. While convenience is nice, one other thing is becoming clear as the IoT wedges its way into our cars: It's taking aim at some decidedly first-world problems.Related Video: Image Credit: GM Buick Cadillac Chevrolet GM GMC Technology Infotainment in-car entertainment marketplace e-commerce

Here are all the cars GM is axing as part of its restructuring

Tue, Nov 27 2018

GM plans to kill off a couple of great and a few meh cars as part of its restructuring. Here's a rundown of all the cars being phased out of production. None of the vehicles GM axed were SUVs or crossovers. Instead, it was an action reminiscent of what Ford recently decided to do by discontinuing U.S. sales every Blue Oval sedan. GM just didn't explicitly say, "We're killing our cars," like Ford did — probably a smart move by GM. Keep scrolling down to see the full list of deceased GM models. Chevrolet Volt This one was the most surprising of all the cars GM decided to can, primarily because cars with plugs are supposed to be our future. However, maybe consumer demand just isn't quite there yet for a plug-in like the Volt. We came up with all sorts of ideas for what was to blame for the untimely demise of the Volt, so go check that out for a full breakdown of the situation. Cadillac CT6 Here's another car we'll be sad to see go. Cadillac's flagship sedan was such a joy to drive, and it served as the conduit to deliver GM's semi-autonomous Super Cruise system, which still hasn't been surpassed by any other company's technology in our books, even Tesla's Autopilot. That being said, GM does plan to produce the CT6 until March, with the last cars coming off the line set to be twin-turbo V8 V-Series models. If it's going to go, this seems like a pretty great way to make an exit. We'll be patiently awaiting the next flagship Cadillac once this one finally fades away. Chevrolet Impala The Impala is actually a pretty good car. It doesn't sell terribly, and we think it's a completely satisfactory car to drive. However, people would rather have a Traverse or Equinox these days, making the Impala one of the vehicles to find itself on this list. Chevrolet is keeping its smaller brother, the Malibu, but a big, full-size sedan just isn't what people are ordering up these days. It's unfortunate to see it go, but we won't be broken up over it. Chevrolet Cruze We wouldn't rank the Cruze at the top of the compact car class, but if you were looking for a small, cheap American car, it was either this or the Focus. The Cruze had the potential to be a true small performance car if Chevy had ever wanted to make it into one. But sadly, we're seeing it bow out before Chevy ever tried to slot a hot engine and suspension in there to make it competitive with other hot hatches. A Cruze SS would have made enthusiasts take notice.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
