1972 Chevrolet El Camino 350 - #'s Matching Original on 2040-cars
Magnolia, Texas, United States
My dad and I found this car for sale last October. It had been sitting in a garage in central Texas for many years. The owner said that his father had purchased the car in the late 1970's (I believe), and it was just a cruiser/second vehicle. He drove it on business trips occasionally, but that was about it. He passed away around 2002-3, and left the car to his son, whom we bought it from. The son never really messed with it, and eventually, it just sat in the garage unused. My dad was looking for a fun toy for his twilight years, and I fell in love with it at first sight. It was a time capsule. A very dirty time capsule. It hadn't been run at all in several years, and not registered for 10. We bought it and brought home, and I got busy bringing it back to life. I went through and replaced fluids, filters, etc... Replaced water pump, cam & lifters, intake, rebuilt carb, new fuel lines, brake lines, etc...all sorts of stuff to make it roadworthy. Unfortunately, my dad passed in early January before I was able to get it all done so he could enjoy it. My mom doesn't need the car. So now, it needs to go. We took it out to its first local Cruise Night last weekend, where it received many compliments. Many commented on how well preserved, how straight and solid it is. The doors, hood and tailgate all open and close like it's new. Truly amazing. No sag whatsoever, and very tight. Like stated above, it is a very straight and solid, good running and driving car. It does have A/C, but it isn't working. The compressor ran when we got it, but didn't cool. I pulled a vacuum on it to see if it would hold. The high side does, but not the low. The dash lights are intermittent. Other than that, everything seems to work fine. I replaced the intake with an Edelbrock Performer RPM to go with the carb it came with(Q-jet misplaced by previous owner). I also replaced the factory wheels and tires with the Cragar 17's that are on it now. The car comes with the original wheels(complete with rings and caps), and factory cast intake. It also has the original spare, O/M, warranty book, and Protecto plate. The exhaust is also a new dual 2 1/2 with Flowmaster style mufflers. I am more than glad to answer any other questions you may have. Please call 281-413-1052. |

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
2018 Ford Expedition vs other big SUVs: How it compares on paper
Fri, Nov 10 2017With our Alex Kierstein rightly impressed in his first-drive review of the new 2018 Ford Expedition, we decided to dig a little deeper into the numbers, and we came up with the spreadsheet below to highlight how the new 2018 Expedition compares on paper to its main full-size SUV competitors: the 2018 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban (and therefore the 2018 GMC Yukon), 2018 Toyota Sequoia and 2018 Nissan Armada. We also threw in the new, even bigger 2018 Chevrolet Traverse since, as you'll see, its massive dimensions should put it on the radar for anyone who needs loads of passenger and cargo space but doesn't care as much about towing. A few notes about the chart above. First, the 6.2-liter V8 that's included with the new-for-2018 Tahoe RST trim level is the standard engine on the GMC Yukon Denali. You can apply most of the Tahoe's numbers to the entire Yukon and Yukon XL lineup. Second, though we highlighted categories where the Traverse led, we also highlighted the runner-up full-size SUV, since this was ultimately about that segment. Traverse numbers are broadly applicable to the new Buick Enclave.
