Up for bids is a 1971 Chevrolet Elcamino. Let me begin by saying this car does not come with a title as it was lost awhile back. I am trying to obtain one so if I get it, you get it. It was last registered in NC and is still on there books. No promises, youre buying it without the title. The engine and trans will NOT come with the car. You will get everything including radiator, power steering pump, rear, exhaust, crossmember etc. Everything but the engine and trans. This is a very restorable car guys. The frame is solid and the only floor pan that is bad is the passenger side rear. All the others are good. This car was stored outside up on blocks about 2 feet off the ground is what probably saved it. The bed floor is solid with only surface rust. The tailgate needs the outer skin. The main part of it is good but it was stored with the tailgate down and water layed it in and rusted it pretty bad. The top has surface rust but no rust through. It originally had a vinyl top on it. the hood is good with only surface rust, no holes. It seems to be good and straight. The front bumper is bent up and the grille is cracked. The rear bumper is usable with only a few small dents in it. The pass side fender has lower rust as does the driver side. There are pics of this. They make repair panels for just the lower section you need I was told. Both doors are pretty nice and they both have some rust inside the bottom corner only, bottom of doors are good. The drivers side quarter panel has rust behind the wheel but doesn't seem to be any showing around the wheel well. In front of the wheel is just surface rust I think. It has had some dent repair and paint work sometime years ago and it needs redone, that is why the drivers side looks so bad. They make lower quarter panel patches to repair behind the wheel. Passenger side has rust behind the wheel also with surface rust in front. No wheel well rust on the pass side either. The interior has a column shift column in it but the car has a floor shifter with a console. Think the seats and console are actual 71 Elcamino items but someone has added them as it came from the factory with column shift and bench seat I think. The seats need covered and the carpet needs replaced. Headliner is shot. Door panels are both pretty good just warped up a little. Someone put some black paint on them and its beginning to come off. I think the dash pad has a hard cover on it and I have another dash pad with on minor cracking on it that I will let go with the car. All glass is good except the windshield, both door glasses roll up and down. Didn't check the wings. This car has power steering, air, manuel drum front brakes and a 10 bolt rear. It was originally a 350 engine car. The emblem on the tailgate says SS396 but it is not. This car is very restorable guys and it could be on the road very easily and do the work to the body as you drive it. This body style is getting hard to find. Remember, not engine or trans, and if I get a title you get it or I will steer you in the right direction if you want to get it. I feel sure one is obtainable but no promises. Ive tried to tell all I know about this car but email me with any questions you have. Checkout my feedback guys as its well over 500 and all positive. You don't get great feedback like that if you lie and cheat people, I tell it like it is. That being said bid knowing youre dealing with an honest ebayer. Delivery may be possible on this depending on your location. If you have less than 10 positive feedback you must contact me before bidding to assure me you will complete the transaction should you be the winning bidder. If not I have the right to cancel you bid. Also I reserve the right to end this auction early should it sell locally. Thanks for looking and good luck should you decide to bid on this 1971 Chevy Elcamino!!!

Junkyard Gem: 1985 Chevrolet Sprint
Thu, May 21 2020For in the 1985 model year, General Motors began selling Chevrolet-badged Suzuki Cultus hatchbacks in California. Sales of the cheap three-cylinder econobox in the rest of North America followed soon after (with the Canadian version known as the Pontiac Firefly), and did pretty well considering the crash in gasoline prices during the middle 1980s. Starting in 1988, the facelifted Sprint became the Geo (and, later on, Chevrolet) Metro. Here's one of the very first Cultuses sold on our shores, found in a San Francisco Bay Area car graveyard. Amazingly, the primitive rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Chevette remained available all the way through 1987, competing with the thriftier front-wheel-drive Sprint in the same showrooms. For 1988, Pontiac started selling a rebadged Daewoo LeMans, so the Sprint/Metro never lacked for intra-corporate competition. Inside, you'll find the same stuff most mid-1980s Japanese econoboxes got: tough cloth upholstery and long-wearing hard plastics. Suzuki quality in 1985 wasn't quite up to Honda or Toyota levels, but you weren't paying Honda or Toyota prices for the Sprint. MSRP on this car started at $4,949, or about $12,000 in 2020 dollars. The cheapest possible 1985 Chevette cost $5,340, while a new no-frills Ford Escort would set you back $5,620. Subaru, however, could have put you in a punitively unappointed base-model Leone hatchback for just 40 bucks more than the Sprint that year. I think I'd have sprung the extra for a $5,348 Toyota Tercel, a $5,195 Mazda GLC, or— best cheap-commuter deal of all that year— the $5,399 Honda Civic 1300 hatchback. I was 19 years old and driving a Competition Orange 1968 Mercury Cyclone that year, and I recall feeling pity for Chevy Sprint drivers, new-car smell or not. Still, these weren't bad cars for the price, though a Sprint with an automatic transmission was a real character-builder. Got three cylinders and uses 'em all! 48 horsepower from this hemi-headed SOHC 1-liter. The Turbo Sprint — yes, such a car existed — had a howling 70 horsepower. The hood-latch release is a rectangular button that resembles a badge. 1985 Chevy Sprint Commercial The highest-mileage, lowest-priced car you can buy. 1985 holden barina commercial The Australian-market version was the Holden Barina, and the TV ads featured the Road Runner. 1983 SUZUKI CULTUS Ad In its homeland, this car got screaming guitars and a drive through New York City for its TV commercials.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra introduced
GM learning from current Chevy Volt owners as it works on next-gen model
Tue, Sep 16 2014Details of the second-generation Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid are coming in at a trickle, and the latest is that the 2016 model-year Volt will be improved in all meaningful areas, including performance and all-electric range, says General Motors powertrain director Larry Nitz. 60 percent of Volt customers only charge using a standard 110 outlet. Nitz was speaking to Autoline After Hours about the current and future Volt. He said that GM has been tracking Volt driving habits and found that about two-thirds of the Volts' collective miles are driven in electric mode, and that 81 percent of all Volt trips were done in pure EV mode. Additionally, Volt drivers plug the car in 10 times each week, on average. Nitz also said 82 percent of the Volt's commuting miles are coming from the plug instead of the gas tank. Oh, and 60 percent of Volt customers only charge using a standard 110 outlet. Last month, GM released a teaser shot of the 2016 Volt (above) and said the car would make its worldwide debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show next January. Earlier this year, the Volt was reported to be getting a new chassis for the upcoming version. The Volt could use a bit of new life. Through August, Volt sales were down 12 percent from a year earlier to 13,146 units, and sales plunged 25 percent alone. That compares unfavorably to the Nissan Leaf battery-electric vehicle, whose 2014 sales have jumped 34 percent to almost 19,000 units. You can see Nitz dish the goods in the video below (Volt comments start at around minute 15). You will also notice AutoblogGreen contributor Gary Witzenburg talk about his history with the EV1 and share his take on the Volt. This content is hosted by a third party.
