Hello, Up for auction is a 1971 Chevrolet Elcamino Project. This is a Non A/C car. This car was pulled out of a barn after sitting for 28 years. it does not run but the engine does turn over by hand. The couple i bough it from assured me it was a perfect running car when it was parked.so I would think a good tank cleaning and fresh gas it should fire right up. It has the original 350 with a turbo 350 Trans. Also has a 12 bolt posi rear end. It does have 8" corvette Rally wheels. One does need a tire that's why there is a cragar on in the pictures. The car will need a complete restoration to be perfect. However it is a solid one to start with. The body is in really good shape for the year. It has a really nice vinyl top. The bed has no rust in it. Front fenders are a little soft at the bottom and passenger fender appears to have some filler in it. The interior is in pretty good shape. The dash has no cracks and with a good wipe down it would look great. The door panels are in nice shape. the bucket seats are not original to the car. We believe they are out of a cuda The carpet is in good shape. the only thing the interior really needs is a good cleaning and a head liner. The headliner is there its just ripped. Underside of the car is pretty much solid besides a rust spot the size of a quarter on the passenger side. The frame on this does have rust where the rear trailing arms connect. when I noticed this I started looking for a good frame to put under it. I found another 71 that was out of California and was pretty much a parts car though solid. So in addition to the red and black 71 you get a ton of extra parts. Most important is the frame. it is a complete rolling rust free frame. It does have the front disc break set up on it. The red one has drums in the front so that is a plus when its switched over. The extra frame also has a 10 bolt rear end. I have made a list of the extra parts included with the sale. and have  taken pictures of everything. So with this sale you get the complete Red and Black 71 and all these extra parts:

1 Complete rolling frame with disc breaks and break booster/Master cylinder & 10 bolt rear end.

1 Radiator core support

1 Driver fender

1 Tail gate

1 Driver door

Is your new-car warranty good at the race track?

Mon, Feb 27 2017

We've all heard the horror stories. Your buddy knows a girl that was dating a guy whose best friend's brother once broke his brand-new, recently purchased performance car while making runs at a drag strip or laps at a track day, and the manufacturer wouldn't cover the repair under warranty. True story? Urban legend? Complete crap? Yes, no, maybe. One thing's for sure: Automotive warranties have always come with caveats. In 1908, an ad in the Trenton Evening Times clearly stated: "All Ford Cars Guaranteed for One Year." Although it changed over time, by 1925 the Ford New Car Guarantee only covered 90 days on material and 30 days on labor, and it clearly stated that that there was "No guarantee whatever on Fan Belts, Glass, Bulbs, Wiring, Transmission, Bands, Hose Connections, Commutator Shells, Rollers, Spark Plugs or Gaskets." Whether or not Ol' Henry would pay to fix your Model T if you broke it shaving a tenth off your lap time at the local board track seems to be lost to history. We're guessing no. But what about today? Do new-car warranties in 2017 cover cars when they are driven on race tracks? We researched the warranties of 14 auto brands to find out, and the answer is yes, no, maybe, depending on the brand, in some cases the model, and whether or not your car is modified from stock. Acura has been out of the high-performance car game for a number of years, but jumps back into the party in 2017 with its hybrid-powered $173,000 NSX supercar. And Acura's warranty, as well as Honda's, clearly states that it does not cover "the use of the vehicle in competition or racing events." View 33 Photos So we asked Sage Marie, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Honda and Acura. "If the car is stock, the warranty covers it on a track just as it does on the street. No question," he told us. "However, if the car is modified, say with slick tires or other components that would put higher stresses on the vehicle's parts and systems, then we would have to investigate the circumstances further." Marie went on to say the same would be true for any Acura model or Honda vehicle, including the new 2017 Honda Civic Si. This became a common theme. Chevrolet actually started this practice with the fifth-generation Camaro on the high-performance ZL1 and Z/28 models.

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th

Tue, 15 Apr 2014

It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
