This is a very clean unrestored El Camino. It has been in storage since 1996 and hasn't been touched. I bought it a few weeks ago and don't have time to work on it so I'm going to sell it to someone who does. The guy I bought it from said they put the current engine that it has now in the truck in 1982. It is a 1973 Impala small block 400 with a turbo 350 transmission (haven't checked any numbers). The car is an original a/c car and everything looks to be complete except for the compressor, its gone. The seat looks good but not absolutely perfect but the carpet and headliner will need to be replaced. The tires hold air and have good tread but are cracked from sitting. The floor boards are the cleanest I've ever seen and the frame looks good. I looked at the floor pans from the bottom because the carpet is still in place. There are a few bubbles on the bottom of the car but no holes are showing that I've seen. The car was painted last in 1992 so what you see is what you get. It was stored under a carport and that is why it looks as good as it does. Around all the windows looks great and the bed looks good it has a black splatter paint not a spray in liner. It has the S.S. hood and grille but I don't think it was originally an SS car. The door panels are good but have been cut for speakers that are missing. I got the car running when it came in and it does run, it did smoked a little but again hasn't been run since 1996 probably will clear up but I'm not going to make any promises. The fan shroud was missing and the temp started to go up and I shut it off. The brakes are power but are weak. The car will easily drive up on a trailer. With a little work the car looks good enough now to make a driver or it is a good start for a full restorsation. Please call with any questions I've tried to describe it as best I can. 251-401-6878 Thanks David When I bought the car I got the Ga title and the last registration, I'm selling the car with a bill of sale from me and handing the winning bidder the paperwork I got with the car I'm not going to the expense of registering it.

Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica
Fri, 03 Aug 2012If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.
Chevy shows much-improved 2014 Corvette interior in new video
Mon, 11 Feb 2013If you want a closer look at what went into designing and building the interior for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, we've got just the thing. General Motors has released a new video detailing the cabin's evolution from conception to execution, complete with commentary from Ryan Vaughn, performance car interior design manager with Chevrolet. The quick clip details how manufacturing, engineering and design within General Motors worked together from the first sketches to ensure no compromises had to be made later down the line. How novel.
With plenty of hides traced with contrast stitching and available real carbon fiber trim, the cabin looks to be a few hundred miles ahead of the C6. Given how readily critics derided the previous generation for its cabin, the C7 should make writers work a little harder to find something to complain about. Check out the video below for yourself.
Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step
Thu, Feb 2 2017General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet.
