For your consideration:.......... RUST FREE ARIZONA EL CAMINO. NOW IN IDAHO..........!
One very clean, straight, rust free El Camino. New paint, 350/350....... cloned out to be a Super Sport.
Odometer reads 44,000 miles, but I believe there's only @ 23,000 since rebuild. Runs Very strong.
Rebuilt 350 tranny with Stage II shift kit, done by local transmission shop in June 2013, ($1,500.00). VERY snappy.

Painted 3 years ago, by local professional Paint and Body shop. Paint is just beautiful. I've included 2 pics (red) of Elky on the day I bought it. It shows the hard fiberglass tonneau cover on it.

NEW:
SS Cowl hood.
Aluminum intake.
Aluminum water pump, high volume.
Chrome 600 cfm carb.
Chrome Edelbrock air cleaner.
Corrosion resistance 100 amp alternator.
New front, and rear lights, lenses, etc.
New fuel pump.
Hood pins (not installed yet).
New chrome bumpers.
New stainless everything front to rear.
New kick panels........ the ones that accept 6X9 speakers.

Sits on nice, new, Super Sport wheels, with B.F Goodrich raised white letter tires.
Dual Flowmasters.
Sound deadener.
Powder coated headers.
Electronic ignition.
New Optima Red Top.
All new rubber seals.
All fluids changed, and freshly tuned. NO leaks.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things. I encourage inspections by appt, and phone calls also.

All brand NEW interior from OPGI still in boxes (@ $1,3000.00), door panels, water shields, window/door handles, springs, arm rests, interior / exterior mirrors, headliner, wind lace, sail panels, carpet kit, the list goes on. The door panels, and carpet kit are the top of the line ones.Everything to finish interior is there. I was going to Dye dash to match all new black interior.Too much to list. Thousands in receipts. You finish inside, with all the new parts that go with it.
Car looks, and runs GREAT. A real head turner, and a true American muscle car. I'm basically the 2nd owner of this Arizona Elky Assembled in California. Lots of receipts, and build sheet.
The bed was protected by a hard fiberglass tonneau cover since new. VERY, VERY light surface rust on under carriage, but mostly that black tarry stuff that possibly came from factory. I could easily scrub it off, and shine it up with rattle can paint, but just didn't want to hide anything up.
Pics really don't show true color. I will add one a.s.a.p. It's a light metallic, blue with gold specs. Pics were taken on overcast morning. When in the sunlight you can see the gold flakes better. The paint on bed is presentable. It was never color sanded, as I planned on the "spray in bed liner". For the buyer, the will obviously see there is no rust. I didn't want to spray it, because I feel a potential buyer would be skeptical over covering up any "sins". Have you ever wondered about the spray in liners, and wondered exactly was underneath???

If you're thinking of restoring a 1970......... consider this one. It's mostly finished, and I know for certain I will be taking a loss. This El Camino was purchased new, and was a one owner. Previous owner passed away, and handed down the vehicle to his daughter, who kept it in a barn. I bought it because it was so original, but mostly because it was RUST FREE, since it lived it's life in Arizona. Engine compartment needs detailing, It's a tad bit nasty.. LASER straight...... body lines are perfect. It's one honest El Camino.

(I will change pics soon. The ones posted DO NOT show true color, it's a really nice ice blue, with gold flakes. One VERY small chip where hood meets head light housing, approx less than 1/2" chip. Fixable) NOTE: All NEW interior is BLACK. Dash is perfect, no problems mechanically, electrically, etc. With the brand new 600 cfm carb, this gets up, and goes, please just don't expect it to be a race car, nor a rust bucket. It's not. Not butchered, or hacked. You finish interior. Bid with confidence. Seller has the right to end auction at any time. Good luck. If I don't get asking price, I will accept any reasonable offer during, and after listing. Hagerty will insure this car at $25,000.00. Feel free to check with them. I'm only asking the listed price due to health reasons. Don't hesitate to call.

Note: I have owned the vehicle for approx. 6 years. It's been my Sunday driver, and it's a fun ride. Always get waves, and thumbs up. I've only put on about 1,000 miles since I've owned it, I am disabled, and don't drive much. All the new engine parts listed are about 8 months old. Strong running.Wires shown in one pic. are from an old 8 track stereo I removed. I do have the brand new fender tip, and cowl hood stainless trim. I don't have the trim for rear, and front glass. Paint is nicer than most I've seen. Never driven on freeway, and driven only in summer. Only the one 1/4 inch chip, never wrecked, and no bondo. You'd be hard pressed to find such a straight Elky, then do all I've done to it. Brake booster is rusty, and engine bay just needs to be detailed. I encourage anyone who is interested to call. All headlights, bulbs are new, and I am sure I am forgetting something. Car will be sold "As is, where is" with no warranty. Payment to be made by Cashier's check. Winning bidder please call me to help assist with your shipping company. When Cashier's check clears, you get the vehicle. Clear title in hand. Thanks, and good luck.
This Elky would make an awesome Christmas gift for that El Camino lover in your life.

Feel free to call with any questions. My name is Mike, Ph. #: 208 968 9729

'84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia

Fri, Jan 16 2015

These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models. Weekly Recap: Electric Rapide concept showcases Aston's future

Sat, Oct 24 2015

Aston Martin showed off an all-electric Rapide S prototype this week and announced an agreement with investment firm ChinaEquity to explore development of a production version of the sports sedan. The car could arrive in about two years if the project advances, and it would be built in Gaydon, England. The concept car, called the "RapidE" was developed with Williams Advanced Engineering. The electric Rapide is meant to highlight British innovation, and it was revealed during a state visit by Chinese president Xi Jinping to the United Kingdom. Spec were not available for the concept on display. "The car we showed in London is a fully running concept but not yet defining [of] our choice of battery, motor, inverter, etc," spokesman Simon Sproule said. "Now that we have a clearer path for producing the car, we will be defining all the parameters." Aston Martin has been vocal about its electric ambitions this year, and Sproule told us at the New York Auto Show that an all-electric Rapide could cost $200,000 to $250,000 or more. "It's a study, but we're serious about it," he said. Some reports have indicated the electric Rapide could pack as much as 1,000 horsepower. Aston considers electric technology the strongest play for modernizing its powertrains and meeting emissions standards around the world. Hybrids and all-electric models can offer high outputs and strong torque delivery, which is in keeping with the Aston's image as a sportscar maker. Company brass prefer this option over dropping down to four-cylinder engines. And yes, V8s and V12s remain part of the plan. The electric push is part of Aston's future strategy to remake its lineup, which includes refreshing its sportscars, building a production version of the electric all-wheel-drive DBX concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show, and adding a four-door Lagonda. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Domino's serves up purpose-built delivery car Domino's revealed a purpose-built pizza delivery car based on the Chevy Spark. It's called the DXP, for Delivery Expert, and it can handle up to 80 pizzas. The pies stay warm thanks to an oven located behind the driver's seat, and the DXP is sauced up with a puddle-lighting feature that projects the Domino's logo outside of the car. Power comes from the Spark's stock 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 84 hp that gets up to 39 mpg on the highway. Chevy dealers will be trained to service the DXP.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
