This beautifully freshly restored 1970 chevy el camino ss 454 upgraded to 468Cu.In. with less than 500 miles on everything. Vehicle hasn't seen a dyno yet, but this nasty V8 horsepower runs & sounds top notch!! Fully customized air intake system, holley street avenger 4-barrel carb, edlebrock intake manifold, performance cam, accel super coil, accel bb 300+ high output race wires, hooker competition headers, 3 inch dual stainless exhaust with magna flow mufflers she rumbles just right. To hold this high performance 4-speed, possi trac 12-bolt dual braced rear end torque machine, a complete Global West Suspension upgraded performance stance and stability system is installed from shocks,a-arms,sway bars and rear end bracing. Which makes for driving & riding down the road go pretty smooth. Upgraded power steering and power brakes helps out alot there, brakes are rear drum and front disc, rotors are slotted for performance with pads in new condition. Like new american racing wheels wrapped in firehawk indy 500 tires. Complete restoration overall really looks nice, everything is very solid with the body being straight as an arrow and all metal, rear tailgate has a l.e.d light mounted in the center and front fender marker lights mounted on the bottom set in flush. The exterior body work looks great everywhere you look, including vinyl top, there was not a spot missed and honestly i like the interior a little more. Professionally done and installed everything is fresh, not a crack in the dash, no rips, stains or flaws interior anywhere. Seats have original spring feeling with about 6 inches of flex that is very comfortable, Original driver pedals in great condition. Modern sound system with pioneer speakers and usb hook up for MP3s. Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes
Tue, 28 Aug 2012
Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.
Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]
Wed, Dec 3 2014Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings. Check out the video above to see some of the winners and losers in a few of CR's categories. If you're a subscriber, you can check out the full list on its website. Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
