1969 El Camino 327, i bought the car from a friend and it had been stored for 10 years in a dry garage after they started and did not finished the restoration. They had added a rebuilt engine, rebuilt automatic trans, new exhaust systems, to only name a few things, but drove it for a short time and then parked it in the garage for 10 years. I did get proof of the cost they spent on the car, and it was just over $10,000 not including the purchase price of the vehicle. The speedo indicates 57354 miles, i believe the correct mileage is 157354 as this is a 45 yo car, and we do know that 12 years ago it read 136800 on the customers receipt.

When my son was growing up i taught him how to restore cars, and of all we did his favorite was the 1969 El Camino which i sold to help pay for his college. He is now 31 and  returned last year to Washington State. I thought it would be a nice surprise to give him another El Camino, so i spent the past year+ finishing the restoration of this El Camino. In the meantime he acquired a son, now car isn't as important as the baby, and i am too old (76) to drive it much.

I had a retired painter friend block sand and  prepare the car for paint, and then had it professionally painted apply Black base coat clear coat. Before the car was painted i removed most of the chrome trim and installed new chrome, we also installed the new carpets that they bought 10 years ago, upgraded the brakes to power assist, added new shocks and have driven it only 300 miles.

The bid is starting at $6,000.00, but there is a minimum that i will accept, that is above that price. Please do not did if you don't have the cash, don't bid if you have a bad history with Ebay or Pay pal, but feel free to contact me thru the Ebay listing if you have any questions. Leave your name, tele number and a brief message, and i will return your call within 48 hours or less.

This car is available to world wide buyers, but please contact me first to discuss the shipping options.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.

eBay Find of the Day: Mario Andretti's personal 2009 Corvette ZR1

Wed, Jan 7 2015

With victory in the the Indianapolis 500, a Formula 1 World Championship, a win in the Daytona 500 and too many other motorsports accomplishments to list, Mario Andretti stands among not just the greatest American racing drivers of all time, but the greatest drivers, full stop. Apparently, the champ is also a fan of speed when not on the track, because now there's a chance to own what is said tobe his personal 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with just 12,872 miles on the clock. The eBay Motors auction page clearly shows Mario Andretti standing with the car, but the rest of the ad is admittedly short on details. The vehicle history report lists only one previous owner – ostensibly Andretti. The exterior is a handsome Blade Silver Metallic accompanied by a Dark Titanium leather interior. However, the seller keeps additional information to a minimum as well with the description simply stating, "This 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 is owned by Mario Andretti and has been garage kept all its life. It is fully loaded with all option on this car." The future buyer will get a seriously great car along with some huge bragging rights at any party by touting its ownership history. We've reached out to the seller for more particulars and provenance, and will update this story if we hear back. In the meantime, the auction for this C6 ends on Thursday, January 8, and currently the reserve isn't met. The price sits at a hefty $68,100 as of this writing, with six bids registered. Chevy Bolt EV, Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Ridgeline take 2017 NACTOY prizes

Mon, Jan 9 2017

Every year the 2017 North American International Auto Show kicks off with the North American Car of the Year Awards. We say "awards" after all those mentions of our home continent because it's not just cars. This year, in fact, the awards spread out to three separate honors: Car, Truck, and Utility. And without further ado, here are the winners. The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is the Car of the Year, the Honda Ridgeline is the Truck of the Year, and the Chrysler Pacifica is the Utility of the Year. Honda's win is perhaps the biggest surprise, upsetting favorite the Ford F Super Duty for the win. The second-generation Ridgeline rides on a unibody platform and is offered in front- or all-wheel-drive, which is unconventional for a pickup. But the layout also offers a cargo bed with an in-floor trunk and solid fuel economy figures of 19 city, 26 highway in its most-efficient form. The Chevy Bolt EV, however, was probably the easiest winner to predict. Its 238-mile range and sub-$30,000 starting price after tax credits make it a breakthrough in the landscape of electric vehicles. With the Chrysler Pacifica available in a plug-in hybrid form, this year's award illustrates the industry's shift towards efficiency and electrification. And with Ford's recent announcement on future EVs, it might not be long will it be until we see a hybrid truck on the award stage as well.Related Video:
